This is me and my sis's go to sushi place in Columbia. The waitresses are dressed in kimonos, lovely Japanese music playing, and you can even request to sit in the awesome booth which is feels a little more authentic since you have to remove your shoes to go in. We had the YUMMY ASS grilled roll (I call this the pizza sushi), the volcano roll, He Said She Said, a Hand Roll (Hamaki?), TORO the tuna belly OMG GET THE TORO, salmon belly, and ice cream for the little baby. All the food was awesome. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a semi authentic/sushi junk food experience. In conclusion, this was the place that made me into a sushi zombie that says, "Shit I need to learn how to eat with chopsticks!" I could probably down 10 rolls at Sushi King without batting an eyelash. Which is always something to be proud of. read more

Dumplings were tasty. The Golden roll was really yummy. My favorite sushi at a place out of town is called "Super Asparagus".... and it's cream cheese, asparagus and salmon... My favorite sushi here is the Baltimore Roll which is real crab, roe, avocado and cucumber. My second favorite is the Shrimp tempura roll and is always consistent and flavorful. I tried other sushi here and they are always very good. Evenings can be pretty crowded on the weekends, so be patient because the wait is well worth it. One of the best sushi restaurants in Maryland! The owners and employees are always very friendly and know most if not all of there customers. They are always happy to see regulars and pretty much tell you what you ordered the last time you were here. read more

I am so upset I came here. The food was so bad I was so disappointed. Like I walked in and the lighting is super dingy. Then the food... omg so disappointed. The beef teriyaki I ordered was so tough... I feel like it's overpriced. The salad they serve is super sweet and filled with liquid. I really just am sad I came here and spent my money on the food. The food here was decent, but it was way too overpriced for the amount of food that we got. I got the charashi bowl. It came with an assortment of raw fish and some vegetables. I have had better charashi bowls. I wished they had more vegetables and pickled veggies. The rice was kind of hard and not as soft and fluffy as I would have liked it to be. However, the fish was fresh and the service was good. If I was to comer here again, I would probably order this dish again. They gave us soup and salad to start the meal. The miso soup tasted really fishy and had a strong after taste that I was not a fan of. Also, the salad was good for the first several bites, but the sauce got way to sweet. The salad dressing was watery and tasted like they used way too much sugar. My sister got the beef teriyaki and I was not a fan of this. First of all, it was way too overpriced and second of all, it tasted horrible. The meat was too tough and it did not have a strong teriyaki flavor. It was bland and the sauce was watery and gross. I think this dish makes my review drop significantly. I will not be back here and I will try out other sushi restaurants in the area. I was not a fan of the overpriced and bland food. read more

It's a struggle finding good Sushi spots in MD outside of Bethesda, Silver Spring and other places. So I looked up Sushi King and right away, I knew it was going to be amazing. The decor is straight up Japanese, the waitresses wore their traditional garb and they even had a spot where you could eat Traditional Japanese style with your shoes off and etc... cool stuff!! Alright now the sushi!! Excellent! So good I forgot the names but heck the pics and you won't be disappointed!! The sashimi is also good here! read more

A cozy little sushi spot in Columbia, MD. We got the gyoza, shu mai, golden roll, and the white seaweed roll. The sushi we got was delicious and very well made however their appetizers were ehhh. They were good but the shu mais were very small, smaller than expected the the gyozas which are supposed to be fried was barely fried and looked like regular dumplings with a thin layer of oil over them. The food came out very fast which was nice and all servers had gloves on and mask/face shield. The tables have been socially distanced and they have borders up all around the restaurant like the one depicted in first picture. They also take your temperature when you walk in. Overall would recommend this place if you looking for some sushi! read more

Best. Sushi. Ever. Okay.. maybe not ever, but definitely my favorite spot in the area. A little bit on the pricey side, but soooo worth it because of the amount of fish they give you and the freshness of it! Their service is amazing too! We ordered a variety of rolls and nigiri, my favorites being: Spicy Scallop roll, Explosion roll, Salmon nigiri, Uni (Sea Urchin) nigiri, and Tuna nigiri. We also ordered both kinds of the spicy tuna roll (one is a traditional kind, the other has avocado and a different spicy sauce seasoning- slightly mayo-y?) and a spicy salmon roll (Holiday roll) and flounder nigiri. I have been going for my birthday every year for the past 6 or so years, and they never disappoint! Obviously, I go more often just than my birthday, but they sometimes will give you dessert for free when it is your birthday! The tempura ice cream is to die for. I have yet to eat anything better than the one at Sushi King. read more

Get in the ring with Sushi King! The food will knock you out! We dined there for lunch and it was an extremely tasty time and definitely worth the trip. The staff were very personable, friendly and helpful. From appetizer to desert, each item was specially prepared. The ginger dressing for the salad was wonderful. The shumai and gyozo melted in your mouth. I especially liked the Holiday and Volcano rolls! Even the Philadelphia roll was one of the best I have had. We stopped by on a Saturday. The waitress took our order and we waited...and waited. When i asked about the food, the waitress dismissed us saying they are busy, no apology. By the time the food came out, it was cold. We were hungry, so we ate it. But 30 minutes of waiting for food is ridiculous. In the past, we've always had good service. Coming from somewhere where sushi is easy and high quality to get. This place is the best near me. The sashimi doesn't have a weird taste, and the staff checks on you frequently, and are very friendly. Atmosphere wise, it's great. The best sushi restaurant in Columbia. Quality is high and food is delicious. Lunch specials are offered on the weekends - which is nice as most sushi restaurants do not offer this; a good way to try a variety of dishes in one fell swoop. Rice to sushi/filling ratio is perfect - none of that inch thick rice to compensate for lack of fish quality. The restaurant has a couple tatami mat rooms, which is super fun and elevates the experience. Service is good and friendly. Bathrooms are well kept. Will continue to come back! read more

The sushi and sashimi was really fresh! They also offered an area where kids could watch the sushi chefs. Aside from all the servers wearing masks and gloves and them providing hand sanitizer at each table and at the entrance, they m also had partitions between all of the tables closer than 6 ft from one another. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. This place was AMAZING! The ambiance reminded me of being back at home in my Japanese relative's house. Hospitality is one of the best parts. The servers and hosts were inviting and continuously checking on our drinks and food. My husband got the Chirashi and said it was so fresh! I got the teriyaki salmon bento lunch combination plate, which was delicious! We also split a specialty roll that was beautifully made. I enjoyed every second, and we will be back soon! read more

I've come here for years!! Food is standard and is ALWAYS fresh. The sushi chefs are superior in the area. Not only are they highly trained, but they are quick in order production. Ambiance is authentic. Service is superior as everyone works together. You glass is never empty, you never have to wait for assistance; someone is always walking towards to cater to you or walking away from helping you. Very nice staff, accommodating and friendly, greeted right away and everything about the restaurant seemed clean. A super plus. Considerate of viruses. Clean plating, great presentation and unique menu items. That is what honestly puts this place at a high ranking; the unique menu options and rolls. From diversity, to everything from baby octopus salad and sushi rolls that have inari and squash in them. Definitely a must try for sushi lovers who love freshness and a must try for people in the eccentric area of cuisine who love to venture out and try new things. The ingredients were top of the line fresh. The explosion roll was crave-worthy. My only critic would be that 90% of the special roll menu says its spicy and not much of it was spicy at all, although the wasabi was, and was fresh. I've found this place on our recent visit to be much too pricey and not family friendly when it comes to having a diaper changing table in any of the bathrooms. 5 piece tempura sets you back to $8.30. Date Night and or hanging out with friends etc this place is probably for you if you dont mind the price inflation,but definitely not family friendly when it comes to prices and bathrooms for the baby. Most special rolls already start at $16 - $20 and up and basic rolls are super tiny ( 6 pieces) from $5 and up I've explored the surrounding sushi spots and can name several others that have fresh sushi/rolls and good tempura but for alot cheaper and they give you MORE. I'm just surprised why not add a couple more veggies to the appetizer? Veggies are affordable and cheap compared to the shrimp which understandably only 2 pieces. Won't be back. Our bill for 2 adults and 1 child who is 3 $80 not including tip .. OUCH! We were still not full and left hungry. read more

I an obsessed with this restaurant. Their sushi is phenomenal! My favorites are the Volcano Roll, the Spicy Scallop Roll, and the Fantasy Roll. They also make fantastic Shumai and Gyoza. Have some patience when you come here -- it takes a little time to craft the rolls as well as they do. Service is excellent; the staff are always willing to answer questions and possess the polite qualities customary of the Japanese culture. Love, love, love this place. read more

Great Sushi. Busy on Saturday at 6pm. Do be understood. Didn't need reservations but was glad we made them. Celebrated grandson's birthday and they sang and brought out a desert for us to share, on the house. Recommend the Rock&Roll roll yum! $100 for 4 after tip. Got the miso salmon lunch combo and a salmon skin handroll. Both were excellent, and the fried shrimp was SO crispy but juicy on the inside. Service was phenomenal. I brought my baby and they got her cucumbers to munch on. Reminds me of a Japanese restaurant in Hawaii I always went to as a kid. Very authentic but innovative chefs. read more

Sushi was awesome! Ambience is beautiful! Hospitality is splendid! Decor- The interior is beautiful. The restaurant has a special area that has Japanese style floor seating. On entering the restaurant there was an unpleasant and strong smell of fish. I had kind of lost my sometime because of that smell. However, it faded after 10 minutes. I was curious to try out this new place right after finishing up my work at the MVA and hence tolerated the fish smell until it faded away. Food- We ordered a Sushi Platter (California Roll, tempura roll and spicy tuna roll) and we loved it, especially the tempura roll- so crunchy and yummy! We also ordered the chicken teriyaki and tuna roll combo. We didn't like that one. The chicken was too sweet and felt under cooked. The tuna roll was okay. The miso soup was also too sweet. Tasted like dessert Service- An old gentleman kept checking on us if everything were fine with the food and if we are foo g good. He is a very sweet and humble person. May be he is the owner, not sure! Price- Reasonable. Our bill was $35 something (pre tips) for two. read more

My friends told us we gotta try this spot. They get their fish from some special place that it's always fresh. Out of the 4 order we dislike one. Sushi from special menu are pretty good. Sushi from big book menu. Not so much. They do give a generous portion off sashimi from the appetizer menu. So that's a plus. We probably be back once a year here if that. read more

A restaurant deserving of it's name, Sushi King is one for the history books. The food and service at Sushi King is fantastic beyond all measure. All of my favorites were crafted to perfection. Biting into each roll was like unlocking an explosion of flavor. Sushi King has hands down the best sushi in Maryland and has adapted perfectly to the ongoing pandemic by enhancing their service with proper safety measures. My boyfriend's family invited me to dinner at Sushi King because his sister was back in town and they were celebrating her belated birthday. We had a total of 8 people (family and friends) and the "adults" (because sometimes I just feel like I'm charading as an adult) took charge and ordered everything. There was so much food and honestly, I just ate whatever was placed in front of me because everything was delicious. We had (two orders of each) agedashi tofu, miso soup, grilled bbq octopus, vegetable tempura, sashimi platter, as well as 4 different kinds of rolls. One had a thin slice of tuna placed on top of the roll, and I think that was my favorite. The manager also asked us if we wanted to try one of the new rolls the chef was working on, and it had a jalapeno on top. So good! Throughout our meal, the staff at the restaurant were incredibly nice and wished my boyfriend's sister "happy birthday." At the very end, they brought out the most epic dessert I've ever had in a Asian restaurant. 3 different kinds of ice cream (black sesame, red bean, and matcha green tea), 4 different kinds of mochi, whipped cream, pirouline, and a molten lava chocolate cake in the middle. Holy crap. It was amazing. I had to activate my "dessert" stomach for this, and it was well worth it. Sushi King is tucked away somewhere in a strip mall in Columbia, but it is SO worth the trip. Come here instead of Sushi Sono. You won't be disappointed! read more

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem spending the money, since most of it goes to alcohol when we're having dinner anyways, but it was a really nice experience. This would be a place I would bring friends from out of town who want to have an experience similar what you would find NYC or Vegas. We had a really good time, especially on $10 margaritas and all you can eat meat. The presentation is really wonderful and I love the thought behind the presentation when it comes out. The Wagyu Fried Rice and Curry is one of the bests I've ever had. And the scallops with butter on the grill were awesome. Definitely a favorite. I will add the the iPad that you order with will start a timer for 90 minutes, and you can only put in an order every ten minutes which was annoying, so I did feel a bit of pressure with ordering. The time limit is to control time spent which makes sense if it was busy. Overall, the experience is excellent. Not a place you would come frequently but for an occasional night out, it is great. I am interested in coming in one day just to check out the bar scene. I've been here twice, and I think it's a very fast, affordable, tasty and pretty clean option for those cutting. First time I came, dude in front of me was clearly also either maintaining or cutting, and he gave me the low down. I ordered to his advice, and it's solid. I get the chicken and shrimp teryaki, no rice all vegetables, and decline the extra scoop of teryaki sauce and the cup of mayonnaise sauce they offer. I do put a bit of their hot sauce package on the veg. I went ahead and measured my meal today. This is all short order cooked, so they aren't measuring the portions or anything; there's going to be variations, but in my meal I got 2.6 oz shrimp, 6 oz chicken, and a 12.8 oz veg. The veg is a pretty even mix of cabbage, brocooli, and carrot. They grill the veg really well - it's not crispy raw, but also not wilted to death; almost an al dante. I'm really not a cabbage guy, but I enjoy eating this cabbage. I swagged the whole thing as 660kcal/61g which may be a little conservative, but I'd rather overestimate cals and underestimate protein than the other way around. They DO grill in oil, so it's not going to be as clean as making at home on the gas grill, but still wildly better than 99% other quick options. They are so fast there there's no point to calling ahead - I've been here twice and each time waited about 60 seconds for my food. Everything is packaged to go, but they have plenty of seats to sit down at. Very affordable. I'm stroked to have a clean food option while I'm on the road, and one that's super fast and affordable. I also showed her the QR code that was still in my app at that time although it did show an expiration date of the day prior, it was still there. She made a big fuss about it and stated that I wasn't able to use it and how it was expired. At this moment I found myself getting upset because I clearly paid for my meal the day prior and if I wasn't able to use the coupon, why did it allow me to. I definitely would not have wasted my time and would have made other arrangements for lunch. I wasn't doing anything unjust and I didn't appreciate her tone she now took with me. I was about to leave without my food and she stated that she would make an exception for me this time. I paused as I thought about how wrong this felt, then stated it wasn't an exception, it was the right thing to do since their website was malfunctioning. I have used codes like this many times before and purchased food days in advance to make sure I was still able to take advantage of the promo code. Other restaurants you're not able to do it. How am I supposed to know this was a restaurant where you couldn't do it when the order went through successfully? I really do not like when people who have the ability to correct whatever the problem is tells you they're not going to do it again. What sense does that make? How about fix your website so that this problem doesn't exist. She doesn't have to worry about doing it again for me because I won't be going back. The food was ok, however I feel like she gave me the bare minimum servings because of the confusion.

I can only base my review on the one time I came, and it's unfortunate that I feel obligated to reduce points for the clientele. There was a group of loud, obnoxious teenagers who were obviously completely wasted, and they were ruining the experience of everyone around them. Management did nothing to try and settle them down, so unfortunately the tastiness of my California rolls were tainted by these jerks. They were throwing food, spilling drinks, running around, and just being plain jack***es all night. But I digress.... the prices were a little steep, and I've had much better sushi in DC for much cheaper. My date got the Tempura and also really enjoyed his. The service was quick and above average. To start with the most important part: The fish. ALWAYS fresh, ALWAYS great cuts, and they know what they're doing. The roles are just as good as the sashimi and they're side dishes are done to perfection. The real kicker for me though: The service. NEVER, EVER have I been anywhere with such amazing service, top to bottom. Our son (2) was acting up and they came over and started talking with him, gave him chopsticks and he calmed down immediately. He then asked to be picked up... which they DID! Then they took him over to feed the fish and walked him around the restaurant. He was so enamored with the staff and the waitress in particular, that he now asks for "SHUSHI" regularly! This is the best sushi in Howard County, I'm not sure if that's a backhanded compliment, however I do really like this place. The food is fresh and tasty, a little bit on the expensive side but I guess that's sushi for you. The service is always nice and attentive, and there are definitely regulars that come here and are on friendly terms with the staff which is always nice. We usually get several of their specialty rolls and a selection of sashimi, and wash it down with a generic Japanese beer. You are not really getting a "pure" flavor of fresh fish against rice and avocado. Your are getting a big mouthful of a bunch of flavor combinations. The staff was warm and welcoming when I arrived to pick it up. I ordered edamame and four different rolls to try: Mushroom Roll, Vegetable Roll, Asparagus Roll and Sweet Potato Roll. The yasai gyoza just didn't taste that fresh and were overall unremarkable. I will be hard pressed to return given a number of better sushi spots in the area.

We walked in - table for 4 - and were sat immediately. Ordered some beverages and started with crab Rangoon and gyoza. The gyoza were standard issue. Good taste in the filling but nothing out of the ordinary. For dinner, we ordered several rolls of sushi and maki, as well as entrees. I ordered a Philly roll and a Baltimore roll. The Philly roll had avocado in it which isn't really a Philly roll but it was very good. The Baltimore roll had crab, avocado, and old bay. This was really good and I liked the crispy topping to it. For my entree I ordered the tonkotsu ramen without the jazz - and the broth was very good and had deep flavor to it. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to us - several refills and the meals and apps came out very quickly. Plenty of seating here and an open area which was good- wasn't loud and allows for an enjoyable comfortable meal.

That lunch combo also comes with a crab tempura appetizer, clear or miso soup, and salad with ginger dressing. As for service, there are days when they are slow and some when they are extremely quick but this has often resulted in mistakes in our orders. There were a couple of times when I've received the wrong sushi roll or my entree never came out. However, the servers are usually very nice and will get your correct or missing order. Overall, I enjoy Sushi Q a lot and the Elkridge location is a classic favorite of mine!
