Go to Volcano Sushi!! We found multiple gnats in our food. The rice was soggy and uncooked, at the same time. This is always the worse sushi king to go to. They mess up orders, forget to bring things, being sour meats. The manager is rude. We asked why prices were advertised for lunch AND dinner when they were only charging dinner. The employees had no logical reasoning and instead started screaming. Very defensive. It resulted in a screaming match between the manager and an employee and my father and husband. Which were loud enough for other customers to hear. Who happened to speak up and say "that's our experience right now too! Bugs in my food, horrible rice, prices jacked up with no notifications, false advertising" Patrons speaking up FROM THEIR SEATS to chime in about having the same experiences. Literally from their seats to say, "hey me too and I'm not coming back." And seated customers stopping us to ask if they were really about to be charged 18.99 as opposed to the advertised lunch prices of 12.99. This was so awful. Volcano Sushi would never. The sign you see is not relevant for the weekends but no where on the sign does it say that! Poor, poor presentation and customer service! It seems as if they are trying to make a dollar any way they can because of the pandemic. So they're compromising the integrity of their rest. read more

Overall, just kind of mediocre. First of all, when we walked in the hostesses said first thing "All you can eat or al a carte?" Not hello, or "have you been here before" or anything very welcoming. Having never been to a sushi king before, we had no idea what they were talking about. We asked if we had to decide before being seated (yes) and if so could we at least look at the menu (luckily, also yes). They said if we wanted al a carte we would have to sit in the bar. Which I thought was odd, but whatever. We decided to go with all you can eat and got seated. Having been in the space when it was an Italian place I expected it to be a little nicer. Maybe not like white tablecloth, but at least be reasonably nice looking. The booths and tables would be cool but they are in bad shape. The bench seat at our table was all torn up and looking around it wasn't the only one. Our waitress was fine. Not really friendly but she came around frequently and we didn't wait too too long between courses. But it was a Sunday night and pretty quiet in the restaurant. The food was nothing to write home about. We got a spring roll appetizer that was ok, freshly cooked at least but frozen I think. The first sushi roll we got was the Alaska roll which was just a basic salmon roll. It was grocery store quality. The other 4 rolls we tried were from the special rolls menu and were maybe one step up from grocery store quality. They were light on fish and light on flavor. Some of them had sauces that made them more palatable. The chicken fried rice entree was not good. It was barely fired and had barely any chicken in it. Again, it was just bland. We didn't bother with dessert. As far as value, we probably saved some money by doing the all you can eat over al a carte but that's based on their prices. You could probably get as good or better sushi rolls from whole foods or fresh market for the money. Might be your best bet considering the atmosphere here leaves a lot to be desired. If I could rate this place a zero, I would. My family and I were really disappointed with how we were treated at this restaurant. It all started with the hostess not being in position. We were not greeted when coming into the restaurant. We walked into the ladies bathroom and found the hostess playing with her hair looking in the mirror. My husband was escorted to the table, this spot had no air conditioning. The hostess asked if he wanted to order drinks, he informed her that he wanted to wait until everyone was seated. We arrived at the table , and waited about 20 min before anyone asked about a drink order. Our orders were taken and it was another 20-25 min wait time. We had to ask for napkins and cutlery. There was no adequate cutlery available and plates were chipped . We received our first order and was partially wrong. We waited another 15 or 20 minutes before anyone else returned to check on us. We asked for the manager and they couldn't seem to locate him. When he did arrive, all he provided was an abundance of excuses pertaining to the staff which had nothing to do with us!!! Great sushi place for the price. In Peninsula Town Center with nice decor and a great location, the menus is not that extensive but very reasonable. We started with the appetizer bar and ordered eel rolls, spicy tuna rolls and California roll which were all good. Nice place to stop by after some nice shopping. Will come back again! read more

This is prolly my favorite sushi establishment due to the fact that I can get as many rolls as I can for the price of one specialty roll at any other local restaurant. I always get the Orchard Roll with no crunch with about three orders of Gyoza's!! The staff is usually young so there are not as attentive if you are a stickler about your waitress. I love seeing young waiters. They also have a small bar with fruit and mixed salads as well. read more

This spot is just a haven for poorly managed businesses, I don't get it. Very prime spot in PTC, so I was hoping for a change from the old Italian place that used to be here. I love sushi, sashimi and pretty much any type of Japanese fare. I have been to the Sushi King in NN, and quite frankly I'm not sold on the concept of AYCE ( all you can eat) sushi. Sushi really shouldn't be rushed, but for 12.99 and one helluva appetite I decided to give it another go. The layout is nice, not as cool as the one in NN but still nice enough. It's open and clean...yet than again its newish so I would expect that. They kept the same layout from the previous business so the entrance is on the side which is poorly placed because there wasn't a host stationed here. So, the patrons in front of us had to find one in the kitchen. I felt bad because there was only like 3 waiters/hostess/bussers during prime time lunch hour. We sat and waited quite a bit to order drinks, in the interim I went to the "salad bar". The whole 2 hours I was there the station was never stocked with the exception of the seaweed salad. Empty and crusted salad plates were just sitting at the bar...it was very unappealing. Honestly, I would say that they didn't have enough manpower to stock the station but than again it was a full 2 hours and only one of the entire sets of dishes was touched. The menu is pretty basic, nothing out of the ordinary which is fine considering the amount of speed that business is suppose to function on. However, it took like 30 minutes for dish and my sisters dish to come out. We were given someone else ordered and I told the frazzled waiter. The quality of our actual dishes was subpar...tasted a little old and stale. I ordered another batch and was still not impressed. Overall? It's AYCE sushi for a cheap price, if you have hours to wait and don't mind mediocre sushi than by all means come. Tonight my husband took me to Sushi King for the first time. We were enjoying ourselves, the food, and the atmosphere (and our super cute server) when out of nowhere, my face started tingling and my eyes got super itchy. We think that something that had touched honey had touched one of my rolls and caused a mild allergic reaction. They were so accommodating and incredibly helpful and thoughtful. They gave us a discount, even though I told them it was totally unnecessary, and free to go boxes for the remaining rolls. They tried to get us taken care of as quickly as possible so I could get some medicine in my system. They were so apologetic, but I think I apologized more than they did because my allergy is so strange and not something that many people prepare for. Normally I would mention my server by name, but in the midst of our rush to get medicine, I forgot her name (though I do remember she had dark hair and a nose hoop). I do know that I will definitely be going back! 100%!!! The sweet girl reminded my that her name is Eryka, and I hope I get her next time and every time after that! read more

On 05/30/2019 my colleagues and I went into Sushi King to eat lunch. My food was ordered and as I begin eating, a hair was found in my food. I told my waitress who was really nice. She apologized and took the food back. I asked to see management because clearly I could see in the kitchen the cooks did not have on hair nets. A young lady came over who was not management and said we will waive 20% of my bill. She said if it was a bug 50% of my bill was would have been waived. Really??? My coworker who is a male asked for the general manager and she came over with an ATTITUDE! Alyssa the manager said with an attitude it's not her fault and she talked to the staff about not waiting hair nets. Instead of trying to be customer friendly and apologize she kept talking rudely to us. She finally says I will take care of the bill and get your names and you guys can never come here again! WTF??? We were seated in the only room with people which resulted in our experience being extremely loud the entire time when there were two other rooms that were completely empty. This place used to be my favorite sushi spot. But as of recently it has gone completely downhill. Last week I went in with my girlfriend for dinner and the hosts were nowhere to be found for several minutes and everything seemed so unorganized. We finally got to our table just for our server to not show up for another 5-10 minutes. My girlfriend ordered hibachi chicken with fried rice and the chicken was barely even cooked! Raw chicken! I was astounded and while waiting for the manger to come to our table so I could talk to her about it a roach crawled out of the food. If you love California Rolls doused in different types of sauces then this is the place for you. Being that I was eating sushi in Hampton Roads I did not go in with high expectations. I stopped in for lunch and was happy to see 11.99 AYCE lunch price. We first ordered steak and shrimp hibachi. The steak was overcooked and rubbery. Even the steamed white rice was dry and hard. The house salad was yellow and drenched in ginger dressing. We tried six "specialty rolls" and all 6 were not special. Sashimi, this is not the place for sashimi. Stopped by craving sushi since I can't find good Sushi in San Antonio where I live. Waiter was attentive and friendly and buffet was an amazing price!!! Plus sushi was really tasty. I tried the orchard roll which was excellent and tasted very fresh and the white dragon roll which was also very good. We sat there for a solid 15 minutes and not one server came up to us to ask us our order and we still didn't have our water. The whole time we were waiting, I saw about 5 serves working and 2 of them were just talking and laughing and dancing around. The restaurants food was pretty good. I would not suggest getting dessert here though. The service was fairly well and the food came out very fast. I would strongly suggest getting eel and octopus they were very good. I also ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice. The rice was dry but once you added soy sauce to it, it was good, but the steak was very dry. This was my 2nd time going, the first time wasn't all that great. But the service was amazing 2nd time around and I ordered specific rolls that I would enjoy and loved it. All you can eat was a lot since I ate 6 sushi rolls and my bf ate 7. It seems a little pricey but when you add it all up its totally worth it. Sometimes it takes a little while for your food to come out but I found the best way was to order another set while your eating so once your done, your food is about to come out again. Totally skeptical at first...I am not a big fan of "all you can eat sushi" although this place is awesome because it's made to order...had the edamame, volcano roll, white tuna and spicy tuna...overall this place is great for a quick sushi fix and the ambiance is nice..this is our go to place when we want sushi and we're hungry for a sushi fix...looking forward to trying the one on Jefferson which is closer to home:) read more

I have been coming here since this place first opened. Always had amazing service and food. Tonight was the exception. We sat down and the host took our drink orders. The waitress arrived 5 minutes later for our food order. This was the last time we saw her till I had to flag her down for refills and to order more food. When the food arrived my rolls had a bug stuck in the sauce. Needless to say I was DONE. When we asked for the check and put cash on it all of a sudden the waitress was quick to stand by the table and wait for the tip. Will NEVER go back to this Sushi King. read more

I thought the time before I went on 7/6 was a fluke with horrible service, but this location has gone downhill fast... we were a party of 4 on a Saturday night about 830. We were seated right away at a table but asked the hostess if we could switch to a booth or different table that wasn't shoved in between two areas, she said "no, your server needs another table" she then started out drink order...we ordered unsweetened tea and asked for some sweetener and the hostess said "I don't think we have that" but she went and found it after assuring her they do as we had been there several times before.. we asked for some forks to grab salad and they brought us plastic forks...as we looked around everyone was using plastic forks to eat with.. our server was non existent, he had two large parties on the other side of the restaurant...took one order and brought our check...we had to ask for another order of food and our table was never cleared of empty plates...the hostess came back and asked if there was anything else we needed ( guess she thought we were just relaxing) we needed drink refills and to order more food... the food is ok if you like a lot of onions in your teriyaki, but the service is the worst. Service is never amazing but tolerable . This last visit was absolutely terrible. First lets get into the cleanliness....floors were sticky walls and mirrors dirty seats needs to be replaced due to cracking in the material. Next lets talk about the staff my party and i arrived around 9 on a Friday and they close at 10:30. We walk in it took a moment just to be greeted and one of the worker said they hardly had servers. Red flag should have just left!!!! We are finally seated and there is only maybe 6 tables in here and it took 10 min just to get water. Our first round of appetizers were cold . Our second round there was an issue with one order they did not want to make some additional rice for one of my guests in my party. Lied saying they don't make plain fried rice with all you can eat only takeout when my friend ordered it multiple times since she is a vegetarian (mind you any hibachi dish comes with plain fried rice). Ultimately the kitchen didnt want to make it because it was getting late. Management can't manage and lies to customers just to get them to leave!!!!! Will not be returning. read more

Unfortunately this venue has started a self serve system for appetizers. It's very hit or miss. The self serve bar is frequently out of the best items. Sometimes sushi is warm and tastes strong, indicating that it has sat for to long. The wait staff is great but the kitchen is lackluster. I go for lack of better options in the immediate area. I've been here many times- the sushi is pretty good. My son prefers hand rolled sushi, and that was available and very well done. I only go on the weekdays- because the weekends are too expensive. I haven't tried everything that comes with the lunch specials- the salad bar and ice cream, but my family has and they're happy with what is available. For the price, it was AMAZING sushi. We went there for dinner, and the service was great. We never had to wait for our server to come to the table, he just kept bringing food and always made sure we were happy. The food was delicious and the place is beautiful. The atmosphere is a lot nicer than the other Sushi Kings in the area, since they tend to feel a little too Asian buffet-ish, but this place feels like a proper restaurant. All the servers were super friendly, and we had a massive amount of food and left really happy. The service was pretty good. The building itself was very nice, I see time was taken to decorate and given a upscale feel. Definitely wear something nice for dinner, lunch time it's pretty more relaxed. 4 of us went and we stayed for an hour and half lol. There was no pressure for us to leave. My 2yr old daughter came with us they do have a kid menu and training chop sticks. There is a "salad bar" which isn't really salad there seaweed, and a type of crab salad among other great things. We had a variety of different sushi some great some wasn't but simply because I had that kind somewhere else and it didn't live up to thAt expectations. If your a sushi crazy like me you can tell the rolls are not as full as it should be cutting little corners but noting major.
