4.5 stars. Very good sushi place in such an unassuming little town. Was able to find seating right away on a weeknight. Tried the sushi for two which included 20 pieces of sushi and two rolls. This came with miso soup and salad to start the meal with the combo. The slices of fish were very thin but they were expertly cut and long. There was a good variety of different types of fish and everything tasted remarkably fresh. Something we didn't know (and we didn't ask since it was a hot day) is there is free hot black tea or green tea which is another perk. Also tried the tempura banana and it was a surprisingly tasty dessert: not too oily. Of note, this place is a very small place and it may take awhile for food to come out, as there is only one sushi chef that I could see.

Crunchy porcupine - really good and so different !

OMG - OMG - OMG I don't know where to begin or what to say but OMG BEST SUSHI PLACE and not just in Rochester but the BEST SUSHI PLACE EVER. I have been to over a hundred sushi restaurants throughout America and consider myself a sushi snob. I call myself a sushi snob because I am a very tough critic - I like unique, fun and fresh rolls and have extremely high standards. I also call myself a sushi snob because I judge every roll I eat on a scale of 1 - 10. Of all the thousand rolls I have eaten 3 have only have ever received a 10 and no restaurant has ever received more than one roll with a 10 - well until I visited Sushi King that is! My boyfriend (who I turned into a sushi snob as well) and I ordered 3 rolls - all 3 we both rated a 10! I was shocked, bewildered and amazed and my taste buds in glory. After every bite my boyfriend kept yelling to the sushi chef best sushi ever, yeah man, wow so good, etc... The place is very very small and is run by a husband and wife team and sometimes their daughter helps waitress. Because they are so small and don't have that many people working there the service is slow ! And when I say slow it is SLOOOOOW! Does not matter how many people are there you will be waiting forever for anything. Get a water pitcher, order rolls all at once, and if want more than one drink order them at the same time. But it doesnt matter its worth waiting 5 hours for the rolls. We also ordered crunchy porcupine appetizer - very different and delicious. My boyfriend also ordered the noodles as well which he said were the best he has had in Rochester as well. Second time here we got their popular bento box with chicken Katsu and beef teriyaki which was an amazing price. The teriyaki beef was out of this world cooked to perfection.. the chicken katsu on the other hand wasn't very good and not comparable to the katsu I am used to but I am used to Hawaiian Katsu not Japanese. Along with the quality and taste the prices are beyond reasonable as well. The rolls I ordered and rating are below ( I will add as I try more because you bet I will be back many many many more times :)) Sushi Cake - 10 Sushi King Lobster Roll - 10 Dream Roll - 10 Tiger - 8 Yankee- 8.2 (sweet so I like to add wasabi on the roll) Spicy cooked roll - 7.3 California- 2 ( all California rolls are gross though)

    Sushi cake - so filling!

Solid sushi! Fresh, good. Family fun place, nice people, good traditional offerings plus some unique ones. We tried a number of things... spicy spicy and eel special were my favs. Family loved it all. The sushi cake was very very filling. We will return when we are back in the area!

After ordering food by phone and being told it would take 30 minutes, my food was not ready until an hour. They seemed very short staffed as there were two people making sushi and one other person taking calls, giving people their takeout orders, and acting as a waitress. Other than the long wait, my sushi was awesome! Would order from here again, just need to be patient.

2 Kani salad, tiger roll, mango tension roll, fusion roll, Boston roll , seaweed salad, Amazing

Love this place! Only place I will get sushi! Very fresh and tasty! Sometimes a long wait but worth the wait

I met a friend here for dinner on a Tuesday after she had recommended it based on a previous visit. She warned me that the last time she came it was on a Friday and it took over an hour to get their food, but today we didn't have any issues. Probably because it was a Tuesday. Anyway, the restaurant is small-ish so I could see how it could get crowded on a busy night. I ordered the chicken gyoza and beef negimaki apps and both were good. I especially liked the gyoza; the portion was very generous for only $4.95 (8 pieces). The negimaki was pretty good but I wished it had a bit more flavor. I also got the Dream roll and chicken fried rice. The rice was absolutely delicious. Lots of flavor and a good sized portion. The Dream roll was exactly that! It had crab, cream cheese, green onions, and a few other ingredients that I can't remember. It was also tempura fried. I told my friend it was a "gluttony" roll because it was so decadent and indulgent! Highly recommend it if you wanna treat yo' self. Overall I really liked the food here. The prices were fair and the portions nice and big. I would probably recommend going on a week day if you don't want an extended wait. We got our food within about 20 minutes (apps came a bit earlier) and an hour total after we had gotten our checks.

I stopped by for dinner with a friend and I am surprised how good this place is. The miso soup is umami, salad with an awesome dressing, and seafood/sashimi is fresh. Not the fanciest of decor but the food makes up for it. There are other selections like noodles and bento boxes which i did not get a chance to try but will be back! I've been told the lunch pricing is very reasonable, def get your bang for the buck.

Ordered take out and got the 3 roll lunch special which comes with miso and a salad and a bento box with katsu chicken and substituted the California roll for a Philadelphia roll. The 3 rolls I got were salmon avocado, Boston roll and shrimp tempura. The food was so fresh and delicious and it was all for $23 definitely recommend trying this place out if you're looking for a new sushi place. Can not wait to come back!

Was craving sushi and I heard this place was really good. Restaurant was empty, they are known for takeout. They have tables incase you want to have a nice dinner out. The food was delicious, really enjoyed the manhattan and the romantic I recommend both of them. I will definitely be back to try more delicious sushi thanks for a first great experience. Can't wait to try more

Always loved this place! Small, cozy, local...fresh rolls and excellent quality ingredients! Started with Miso soup and salad (ginger dressing was so good). Great date night spot!

I love this place, I do! I don't mind and waiting for good food made by one man, I get it. And I struggle with always saying "everything was great", when I want to say... " your waitress/daughter needs to check on tables, needs to refill water, needs to stop standing and staring into space ". I feel like a jerk saying it. I think I'm bound to become a take out patron. Don't come here if you don't have time on your hands or you can't make conversation with your dining partner. We ordered the special "Farmer roll" tempura chicken, cream cheese, asparagus, carrot in soy paper. It was really good. We also tried the "Jade roll" king crab meat, cooked shrimp, mango, topped with scallop and avocado, superb. I wanted to order more but she never came back.

Great and creative sushi! Fish was fresh and rolls all had a distinct flavor profile. Best sushi I have had in Rochester in a while.

Do they offer sushi without nori?

of course; it's just an ingredient, and can be withheld, and some of the rolls are made without it.

The first chef came out and cooked for the first table. We waited a good 20 mins until our chef came out. He was irritated and not very friendly. There was no entertainment. Food was overcooked and not very generous as the other table. Friend had egg allergy and waited a long time for his food as we were done eating. Waitress never came and asked us how things were and no drink refills. They added a trip already to our bills which I didn't like. She definitely did provide service for the tip that was added to my check. Restaurant was not very clean. Disappointed

Service was friendly and the hibachi chef was pleasant. Not a big fan of getting refrigerated fried rice flung at your face, but I guess it's part of the experience. Not so tasty if you actually get it in your mouth. The hibachi show was okay, nothing crazy. The standard tossing and cracking egg on the spatula, along with the volcano onion. It was only the 4 of us, so maybe that's why there were less theatrics. The food was well seasoned and portions were large. Definitely enough food for two meals. I opted for the chicken and steak. We got a few shrimps tossed into the mix as well. Fried rice and veggies were good. Pricing is to be expected. Not sure how much it is elsewhere, but expect to pay $40-50 for a two protein combination. Maybe around $30 for one protein. Overall hibachi experience was positive. Food taste and service were good. The wait and lack of additional hibachi "theatrics" were a bit of a let down.

This is my experience take it or leave it…read more We have been wanting to try Sendu for a while now so I decided to get some takeout as I was passing through Webster. I ordered online from the parking lot and went in pretty soon after ordering so I wasnt expecting the food to be ready. I waited in line behind another couple who were waiting to be seated. The place was very busy and it seemed to be a bit understaffed. It took a good 2-3 minutes for the couple to be greeted and eventually seated. I waited another 2+ minutes until the bartender finally greeted me from across the bar. I told them I had a pickup and that I would wait at the bar. I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before I interrupted the bartender to ask if I could get a drink while I waited. $36 for a double whistlepig on the rocks. Wasn't expecting that. The decor was nice. It really seemed like a nice place and it was packed. The staff was doing g then best they could, but overwhelmed and understaffed. Another 10 mintues went by while I watched TV and waited for my food. As I was finishing my drink about 35 minutes after ordering, the food was ready. We got the egg rolls, which were really deep fried spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce but one of the better things we ordered. Seared Pepper tuna was the best thing we tried. Spice with the citrus flavor of the panzu. Seattle, Osaka, and Manhattan sushi tacos. Innovative yes, flavorful not so much. The white sauce (not sure what dish it was for) saved the tacos for me. Manhattan was the best out of the three, but still nothing special. The Beef Bulgogi spring rolls were almost vegetarian, minus the one thin strip of unmarinated beef. Peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter, no other spices or flavors like a peanut sauce should. I was not impressed. We also got the "Thai Shrimp and Tropical fruit Ceviche" it was missing the pineapple and there was no where near the citrus needed to make a real Ceviche. Meaning they cut up cooked shrimp and put it in a bland fruit salad. Another one that I was not impressed by. Finally mango sticky rice. This wasn't bad and I don't mind Jassberry rice, but if you are going to call it sticky rice, you should have more than a drizzle of sweetened coconut milk in the rice and it needs more than a 1/4 mango. Total came to just under $75 not including tip or the $36 bourbon. Too many really good Sushi, Thai, and Korean resturants to waste my time trying mediocre "fusion". I wouldn't rule out giving them another try, but it won't be anytime soon :(

We heard through the grapevine that this restaurant serves sushi tacos which I can't recall any…read morerestaurant offering which led us here. First off, this is a clean and beautifully decorated restaurant. There's a sense of coziness and also modern. Upon stepping in, there's a nice variety of different decor which is pleasing to see. We started off with a couple appetizers. The spicy tuna crispy rice, and the fresh wraps (one with bulgogi steak and the other with fried crab). We can't say we were a fan of these, hence 4-stars vs 5-stars. We found the steak to be tough and did not have any flavour including a steak flavor which was odd. The fried crab is imitation crab stick, battered then deep fried. These ran $8 per fresh wrap which I find very steep. We didn't think they were tasty but presented nicely. The spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer was great. We loved the fried rice croquettes topped with spicy tuna and jalapeno. These were a delight. Now for the main reason we arrived, the sushi tacos. We ordered 6 out of a dozen or so choices, and we loved every single one of them. Each had its own unique flavour, and the bottom base of the taco is purple (black) rice which has its own stickiness and flavor which made them even more delicious. There were a couple tacos which included eel, but we weren't expecting them to be battered then fried. We would have preferred the unagi to be left alone. Nevertheless, these tacos are unique and 100% worth us making a visit to this restaurant. We ended with their Mango Sticky Rice, which we found the mango wasn't ripe enough, but passable. Overall, a great experience and 100% would visit to order more of their sushi tacos and would possibly try other dishes.
