We had dinner last night here, for a friend's birthday. They were very accommodating, and let us change our reservation time to an hour earlier than what we expected. The ambience was that of a typical hibachi restaurant. We were sat almost instantly at a hibachi grill, with two other people. The staff were over pretty quickly, and took our drink orders. I would say, our hibachi chef wasn't the most extravagant. He did the usual things you would expect, but he wasn't very talkative, and didn't get us really engaged. The food was really good though. I got the hibachi steak and chicken with the vegetables and double fried rice. Getting double rice, gave a boatload of rice. Both the chicken and steak were cooked well, and had good flavor to them. I really liked the vegetables, because they weren't cooked too much, and still had a crunch to them. I also ordered a Philadelphia roll, which was presented really well, and tasted very fresh. I went with family on a Tuesday night for hibachi, to me, it seemed quite busy. I'd suggest reservations no matter what size your party is. We were seated quickly at our time. My sister asked for a specific chef, the hostess told us they don't take requests but "they'd try their best." They did not try. Just say he wi not be available at the time of your reservation so we can manage our expectations. Our chef was fine. He did some tricks but otherwise was not very engaging, other chefs definitely put on more of a show. I had chicken and it seemed a little bit tough, not very juicy but I ate all of it, luckily there was sauce to dip it in because it needed it. Our server was okay. I understand things need to be timed, she was not overly friendly at all. We all ordered drinks she did come by and ask if we needed more drinks, my brother was ready for another but my sister and I were working on ours and we would have ordered another but we were mostly through our dinner before we saw her again and by that time we had waited so long it wasn't worth it. Our waters were never refilled. There's not a huge dessert selection but that was never offered to us. The chef we would have liked to have had was cooking for the other half of the table right before we were leaving. He was so funny. Those people got a much better experienced than we did. Apologies from the young hostess, but no offer of a drink while we waited or anything. Turns out they are short on hibachi chefs. Well then don't take so many reservations. The chef was great and very entertaining. The food was just okay. Not as good as previous visits. At $25-$38/meal it should be better than okay. Very disappointing experience. This was a first experience for our grand children and it was not as expected. Poor service, waiting on tables all around while we could not even get water. Our chef did not do any of the tricks the other chefs were doing, but what I found most disturbing was he was using the spatula to put grime down a chute and then using the same spatula on our food preparing it. He got the spatula right up to the kids mouths for the rice balls and did not do any egg tricks. He didn't even have a chef hat in he had a baseball cap. The chef sneezed and turned away as he did wiped his nose on his sleeve and continues to prepare our food. The meals were not served together. First steak was served to my son and he ordered filet mignon an up charge. When I pointed it out that the other woman got my sons steak he simply said oh sorry. First time at this location for hibachi. Came on a weekend early dinner hours so it wasn't that busy. They sat us right away and we were even able to do hibachi with just two people, it was nice but I do recommend with more people. Fun to see others reactions during the cooking show. We had a great chef who was talkative and funny, gave us extra food it seemed cause he did forget an item at the end but included it after we started eating. We went to Plum Garden to celebrate our daughter's birthday and were a party of five. Our reservation was at 7pm and we were seated fairly promptly. We had an incredible evening and both the service and food were fantastic! I had the Sukiaki Steak Dinner, a thinner cut of steak served with soup, salad, rice and vegetables. 2 people in our party had the chicken, the others.. shrimp and steak. Everything was tremendous and we had plenty left to enjoy the next day. We have been going to Plum Garden since the kids were babies and my son turned 30 today and asked to go for his birthday dinner. It's been about 10 years since we've been, but have gotten take out fried rice over the years. It was fun and food was great, as we all remembered. Service was attentive and our chef was entertaining, engaging and cooked us a great meal. Stopped in the other night with some friends for dinner after work. We went for the Hibachi experience which was fun, scary, and delicious, lol. There is a regular seating area too, where you can just order off the menu, fyi. The cook was entertaining, and very experienced. I was a little nervous with the hot fire, and the knives moving so fast, but was great. We had shrimp, chicken, and steak with vegetables, all were fresh, hot and delicious, oh and the fried rice was phenomenal! Enjoyed a lovely post-spa dinner last night at Plum Garden! I had been a number of times before for birthdays and celebrations, and this review is only for hibachi as I have never tried their sushi (mainly because I've heard it's....um...just not very good.) Thing 1: the chefs here are inconsistent in terms of entertainment value. The chef at the table next to us was super outgoing and fun, whereas our chef was 100000% miserable throughout the meal. Doesn't make a huge difference to me since I'm in it for the grub, but if a first timers experience was with this chef they would probably assess the hibachi experience as hella lame. Not even an onion volcano?! Come on man! The food is always perfectly fine and filled with butter and served with haste. Their ginger dressing is my absolute least favorite of all the Japanese places in town as it is the most watery. I tend to go with the hibachi chicken but you can't really go wrong with any of the proteins as they are mass prepared on the reg and super consistent. Overall a finer place to enjoy hibachi and a fun moment with family! read more

This was our first time back to Plum Garden in 20 years! The staff was pleasant and the chef that served us was wonderful. He entertained, while serving up a great meal for us. Portions were more than generous- with lots of leftovers, which lasted us a few days. We went to Plum Garden for a Friday night dinner, since they are now offering the option to dine-in. Given the recent lift on Covid dining restrictions, I was surprised that it wasn't very busy at all. We opted out of doing the whole hibachi experience and got a booth in the dinning room. The service was prompt, all of the staff was very friendly, and they were diligent with the Covid guidelines (masks, shields, plexiglass, hand sanitizer, etc...). We ordered some edamame as an appetizer and I got a hot tea to drink. For our entrees, I ordered a couple of sushi rolls (The Miami Beach Roll and the Philadelphia Roll) and my date ordered the chicken hibachi dinner. The edamame was good and exactly what we were looking for, not sure how you could screw up edamame anyways. I really enjoyed both of the rolls that I ordered, especially the Miami Beach Roll. The seafood was fresh and there was a lot of flavor in both. The chicken hibachi left us with both positive and negative takeaways. The soup and salad were very standard with other hibachi restaurants and we enjoyed them both. The negative was that the chicken wasn't super flavorful and I think it was slightly over cooked. The rice on the other hand was the best part of the dish and was very very flavorful. Not to mention they gave enough chicken and rice for about 3 meals. Overall it was a great night out and I will be back. The only negatives were that the chicken wasn't the best and for the quality of food, price was a little on the high side. Good food and service! Make a reservation in advance for big parties. We were a table of 9 and had a reservation for 7:00 pm on a Saturday so it was pretty busy. We only waited 15 minutes for the table. We got drinks right away and the chef joined us about 10 minutes later. Portions were fantastic and we got soup and salad to start. Steak and shrimp were excellent. The fried rice was great! They accommodated our 2 Gluten Free people by making all the dishes with GF soy sauce , which made our folks feel included in the meal and you couldn't taste any difference. The only down side was that we brought an ice cream cake for my daughter's birthday from Wegmans and the waitress put the cake on the table with some paper plates, plastic forks and a steak knife. for us to serve ourselves. I understood it fine- we didn't buy their dessert, so why should they serve us outside food? I get it. But then the check came - they added the gratuity to the bill, which again, is acceptable for a large party, but when I gave her my credit card, she came back with the check and it had an ADDITIONAL gratuity suggested where you add the total to sign. I already was paying the included gratuity, but if I wasn't paying attention, I would have added an additional 18% to the total ON TOP of the included gratuity I was automatically charged'. I was pissed! I mean, if she can out and served our birthday cake, maybe I would give her an extra $10. But on a $350 bill, she got a $56 tip and wanted more than $60 on top???? I had lunch with a friend at Plum Garden yesterday. Neither of us had eaten there in a few years, but both remembered it as a good restaurant. Our experience was quite the opposite. The waitress came to take our order, never gave us napkins or chopsticks, delivered the food and never returned to the table except to leave the bill. The food was cold, tasteless and unappealing. We had to find someone to pay at the register. They were not busy. There was only one other table with customers during the time we were there. We will never go there again and would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The service and our experience here was very bad. After waiting for an hour we continued to sit at our table with other guests as our station sat empty without a chef. Then we all got to witness the table that sat a half hour after us cheer as their chef came out. We canceled our order and left after that. This is my family's favorite hibachi restaurant. We believe their rice has the most flavor compared to other similar restaurants. We also love their mustard and ginger dipping sauces. Also the salad and soup are delicious additions to the meal. The chef is always fun and talented. My daughter has a holiday birthday so on the 23rd we are hibachi dinner for 18 as the whole family is in town! It's always fun and the chefs make it a great time! This restaurant was awful. I truly don't want to hurt it, but I don't remember the last time I had such a terrible meal. This was my first visit, and a friend invited me because she remembered it as being a lovely restaurant. The server who waited on us was extremely negative, hurried us along, although there were only a couple of tables in the entire place taken, and didn't stay nearby long enough to explain a single thing on the menu. The restaurant could use a renovation, it has a very negative smell to it when you come in the front door. The restroom had aluminum foil holding the toilet together (it was broken). I ordered a combo plate but the waitress never told us anything at all about the food that was on it. It did come with miso soup and the soup tasted like somebody had squeezed out a dirty sponge. I am not exaggerating, I'm sorry to say. I don't know what the waitress's problem was, but she acted like she was aggravated to even be there. We did not do or say anything to CAU her to treat us as she did. I do not recommend plum garden to anyone for your safety stay away especially if you have any allergies they do not take it seriously they find it as a joke and then they mock you. we ordered three hibachi dinners that totaled $111 I requested that the steak and chicken be made separately from the chicken and shrimp due to the allergic reaction my sister has towards shellfish. I also asked that it be packaged separately as well. when we arrived it had not been packaged separately everything was together. Plum Garden is our weekend go-to spot for sushi, sake, and conversation between a few coworkers and I. We are always content with our sushi and service, so this time we wanted to switch it up and try out the hibachi that everyone raves about. My colleague and I ordered the steak hibaichi, served medium. It comes with the usual soup, salad, veggies, and fried rice. Kudos to the rice not being super soy-salty! We were served a great abundance of that. I couldn't finish it all. The soup and veggies were good, but not memorable. That's fine, I'm a carnivore, gimme the steak! Anyways, at one point my coworker and I noticed the steak was a perfect medium point where it's dark pink in the middle, and well cooked around each slice's circumference. I was praying in my head that I would get it that way, but alas, the chef kept cooking and we both go it well done. The steak was pretty much tasted like a chewy sirloin. I guess I'll shoot for the filet mignon next time? That's only a $3 difference. I'll be honest: I never took hibachi seriously when it comes to cuisine. I admire the skill, technique, and entertainment of the the craft but I consider it the same as flare bar-tending. I would not order a cocktail with flare and expect it to be the best I ever had. Was the meal good? Sure. Did my hibachi experience stand out from all others? Not really... I give this place 4 stars because I like the sushi here so much. My wife, daughter and I stopped here for dinner around 7pm on Labor Day to find eight hibachi tables in use (out of maybe 20 total). After a 15 minute wait, we were seated along with two other families, handed out menus and ordered drinks. They have the typical hibachi fare with prices that seem reasonable to a touch on the higher side. My wife and daughter both ordered the filet while I went a little lighter with shrimp. Our first course was an onion soup that was served hot (yeah) with plenty of little goodies in it but perhaps too salty for us. Before we finished our soup, the garden salad with ginger dressing arrived. I found the salad much to my liking and polished it off quickly. Our dressed in all our black chef rolled up with his cart of food to start the show. Well he really only did the bare minimum in terms of show but prepared everything quite well. If we were first time hibachi diners, the lack of show would have been disappointing but we have seen many and we're happy to be eating delicious food. My shrimp was prepared well and when dunked in either of the provided sauces was quite tasty. I ended up with a portion of twenty shrimp which seemed generous to me and also filling. The ladies' filets were cooked to their preferred medium rare and both loved it.
