This place is delicious and super fun. The food you order on the tablet gets delivered via conveyer belt which is really fun, and you can call the server over if you need help. It's easy to order a lot of food and then not be able to eat it all!

Always on the hunt to try new sushi spots and this one did not disappoint. We went on a Friday night for dinner with the family. Ordering is very easy to do on a tablet at your table or you can help yourself from the conveyor belt which was very fun for our kids. Drinks were amazing as I had the lychee martini and my husband had a beer and some sake. All the sushi we ate was fresh and absolutely delish. One of my favorite bites was the seared salmon nigiri. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend checking this place out!

I tried a revolving sushi restaurant for the first time while I was traveling last April, and I remember thinking to myself "I wish we had one of these at home. I'd be there all the time!" Cut to a short time later and I hear that Umai Revolving Sushi is opening up - huzzah! The sushi / sashimi / nigiri menu is decent, with various appetizers and bites on the menu - as well as cocktails and desserts. The price points of the various items all seem fitting - which is helpful, because I like to enjoy a number of different plates. I do wish there had been a bit more variety on the menu, and I wish that items had been added to the conveyor belt a bit more regularly. I know there's a balance because they don't want items out on the conveyor for too long either, but the belt itself was pretty empty when I last visited. While service is minimal in this kind of restaurant, I've always experienced empty plates being cleared regularly (so as not to take up too much space). One thing I do remember from my previous revolving sushi restaurant experience - that I didn't see at Umai - was that the seating area was immediately wiped down/cleaned once a diner left their spot after the end of their meal. This included wiping down the tablet that you can use to order dishes. I didn't see that at Umai when other patrons were leaving after finishing their meal. TL;DR. A good experience at Umai, but there are also areas for improvement. I wouldn't mind going back. :)

I'd definitely return! I thought the quality of the sushi to price point was well balanced. I really enjoyed the fun/unique dining via conveyor belt. It's casual yet could be a decently intimate date place since there's a lot to talk about just from the shared experience and selecting different items. It's pretty nifty, you just select your sushi from the conveyor belt and it gets automatically charged to your tab. Be careful, you could easily rack up a decent bill but let's be honest, sushis never really a cheap food option. My server was very attentive. Continuously clearing plates. There's a call server button right on the tablet at your seating area. You can order drinks as well as more specific or larger sushi orders from the tablet. They also have desert options. Ice cream, fried mochi and Taiyaki. I ate mostly salmon selections and all were wonderfully tender yummy salmon with no fishy taste of older or not quality fish. My only complaint is that I would have liked a few more items to be available via the conveyor belt. Theres some rolls that are only available via the tablet that look pretty good but I don't want that many pieces or to purchase a $16 roll. If you haven't tried this place I would totally recommend

My favorite sushi restaurant in Rochester this far. Also probably the most expensive the way I eat... Everything tastes so fresh here. I love the concept and the variety of the rolls and sushi that come out the conveyor. I can easy spend $50-70 ordering all of my favs. The one thing that I don't like is that it can feel kind of cold when they place party of 1 people automatically at the bar and not a small table. I don't know if they have small booths on the other side bc I've never been past the bar haha.

The food is fresh and delicious. Service is fast and friendly. Pricing is reasonable and upfront. My girlfriend and I stopped here for dinner. We were greeted and seated promptly. The hostess explained how to order food/drinks. It was easy, fun, and fast. The sushi was delicious. We loved the teriyaki steak, too. There are alcoholic drinks available. It's clean, comfortable and modern. Will go back.

This place is so cool! From the robots to the conniver belt, the experience is always fun. I recommend the fried rice and hibachi chicken

FAST! If you're looking for a no frills place to eat, this is it. It's incredibly expensive though. Unlike a lot of sushi places that have lunch specials including soup, a drink, etc, this is NOT the place to go. We left hungry, because at $6 minimum for 3 bites of sushi, we didn't go too crazy. We were seated, then you just take whatever you'd like off of the moving belt and you're automatically charged. The cheapest rolls we had were $2 per piece. Too much for us to ever go back again. If money is no object, it's a fun choice!

This is my experience take it or leave it…read more We have been wanting to try Sendu for a while now so I decided to get some takeout as I was passing through Webster. I ordered online from the parking lot and went in pretty soon after ordering so I wasnt expecting the food to be ready. I waited in line behind another couple who were waiting to be seated. The place was very busy and it seemed to be a bit understaffed. It took a good 2-3 minutes for the couple to be greeted and eventually seated. I waited another 2+ minutes until the bartender finally greeted me from across the bar. I told them I had a pickup and that I would wait at the bar. I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before I interrupted the bartender to ask if I could get a drink while I waited. $36 for a double whistlepig on the rocks. Wasn't expecting that. The decor was nice. It really seemed like a nice place and it was packed. The staff was doing g then best they could, but overwhelmed and understaffed. Another 10 mintues went by while I watched TV and waited for my food. As I was finishing my drink about 35 minutes after ordering, the food was ready. We got the egg rolls, which were really deep fried spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce but one of the better things we ordered. Seared Pepper tuna was the best thing we tried. Spice with the citrus flavor of the panzu. Seattle, Osaka, and Manhattan sushi tacos. Innovative yes, flavorful not so much. The white sauce (not sure what dish it was for) saved the tacos for me. Manhattan was the best out of the three, but still nothing special. The Beef Bulgogi spring rolls were almost vegetarian, minus the one thin strip of unmarinated beef. Peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter, no other spices or flavors like a peanut sauce should. I was not impressed. We also got the "Thai Shrimp and Tropical fruit Ceviche" it was missing the pineapple and there was no where near the citrus needed to make a real Ceviche. Meaning they cut up cooked shrimp and put it in a bland fruit salad. Another one that I was not impressed by. Finally mango sticky rice. This wasn't bad and I don't mind Jassberry rice, but if you are going to call it sticky rice, you should have more than a drizzle of sweetened coconut milk in the rice and it needs more than a 1/4 mango. Total came to just under $75 not including tip or the $36 bourbon. Too many really good Sushi, Thai, and Korean resturants to waste my time trying mediocre "fusion". I wouldn't rule out giving them another try, but it won't be anytime soon :(

First off, this is a clean and beautifully decorated restaurant. There's a sense of coziness and also modern. Upon stepping in, there's a nice variety of different decor which is pleasing to see. We started off with a couple appetizers. The spicy tuna crispy rice, and the fresh wraps (one with bulgogi steak and the other with fried crab). We can't say we were a fan of these, hence 4-stars vs 5-stars. We found the steak to be tough and did not have any flavour including a steak flavor which was odd. The fried crab is imitation crab stick, battered then deep fried. These ran $8 per fresh wrap which I find very steep. We didn't think they were tasty but presented nicely. The spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer was great. We loved the fried rice croquettes topped with spicy tuna and jalapeno. These were a delight. Now for the main reason we arrived, the sushi tacos. We ordered 6 out of a dozen or so choices, and we loved every single one of them. Each had its own unique flavour, and the bottom base of the taco is purple (black) rice which has its own stickiness and flavor which made them even more delicious. There were a couple tacos which included eel, but we weren't expecting them to be battered then fried. We would have preferred the unagi to be left alone. Nevertheless, these tacos are unique and 100% worth us making a visit to this restaurant. We ended with their Mango Sticky Rice, which we found the mango wasn't ripe enough, but passable. Overall, a great experience and 100% would visit to order more of their sushi tacos and would possibly try other dishes.

I wasn't sure if it was reheated or due to the lack of experienced diners, who thought the redness near the bone on a pouched chicken was "raw". Not only was the chicken not served with ginger and scallion sauce, it was drizzled with soy sauce. I didn't taste the chicken flavor in the chicken rice either. Usually it's paired with the Hainese chicken. The mango chicken was too sweet, according to my husband and son. The roti canai was decent, but it had beef or pork in it. Previously, I've only had chicken in the sauce. With only 2 other seatings taken, we were sat next to a mom group of chatty 4 women. They were loud enough for our table not to bother speaking. When I go out with my girlfriends, we usually ask for a table in to corner or back, as to not bother other customers. We don't live in the area and only stopped by for a college open house.
