So I really liked this place. The waiter was nice, the prices were nice. Most of their menu was 50% off. I got the chicken bento box but wasn't really impressed with the fried veggies. The batter tasted like funnel cake so my taste buds weren't really feeling it but someone else may enjoy it. The chicken was awesome and cooked well though so I would for sure get it again. Although I don't live around this place, I do come here every time I'm around the carlsbad area. who can say no to those 50%off items? Love this place! This is the closest sushi place to my house. I always have a great experience here. Sometimes I'll have a small wait, but it's completely normal when you come here around dinner time. Usually I order after off the half off menu and the chef specials. Can't go wrong with any off the rolls you pick. I really like the sushi burrito on the chef special and I always get a seaweed salad. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. Definitely stop by here. There's always a birthday celebration too, so don't be too shocked with the strobe lights. I think it's fun! read more

Glad my boyfriend and I decided to roam around this area. Found a new favorite sushi spot! At first glance from the outside we thought it was a small restaurant but it was actually pretty roomie. The food we got was the Sweet Hawaiian roll and the White Boy Roll. Both were delicious on top of that in their menu they had 50% off most of their rolls all day everyday which a great price!! Each time we've been in the service is fast, friendly and also very attentive. I will say that we eat dinner by 6 PM so I don't know what it's like during peak hours. Lastly, the prices are fair, especially if you select items from the standard 50% off menu. I live in LA and every time I visit Carlsbad with my family, this is our go to place. You can feed a family of 4 and get PLENTY of good sushi for $75 or less. And I eat a lot. And it's not low grade, measly portions. It's good quality thick cuts. I've spent three times more for half as good in places like Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica. A special bonus is they have some good Korean dishes too so it makes for a good Japanese food/ with Korean flair. I talked to the owner and she is always gracious and friendly. This place is fantastic...a new favorite Sushi choice for North County. I am new to the area and went for dinner alone - the staff was very welcoming and attentive. There was actually a woman that stayed near the front of the restaurant that seemed to keep an eye of the restaurant to see if anybody needed anything. I had the chopped scallop nigiri and it was chopped up and very different from any other time that I have had it. The texture was very delicate and it was very good. I also had the crispy rice - very cool dish. It was deep fried sushi rice with spicy tuna, avocado, tempura flakes, roe and eel sauce....YUM. Almost gave it 1stars but it was really cheap The check in process was a bit odd and not very efficient. The food didn't taste very good. Doesn't hold a candle to say fish 101. This is the closest sushi restaurant to my house, and its pretty good for their rolls. I don't think they are very authentic, but they are very tasty. My favorites are the stuffed jalapeño roll, the star wars and the lips roll. All of them have jalapeño, which makes them SPICY and delicious. I also like their hot udon soup with tempura! read more

Todo roll - there was a lot going on with this roll. almost too much. it was tasty though. Soft shell crab maki roll - lot of rice. nothing special. Everything is competitively priced (many of their rolls are 50% off), they offer a large menu, and a lot of korean dishes such as soft tofu bibimbap etc (all of the workers are korean). Service was very friendly and prompt as well. I don't live in the area so not sure if I'll have the opportunity to go back, but sushi kuchi was definitely worth trying. read more
