aburi lovers special set and assorted nigiri
    Teresa C.

Far from the bustling Richmond downtown, a little sushi place hiding in a tiny strip mall located in an almost rural residential neighbourhood. However, the food definitely did not disappoint so it was worth the drive. And it was very affordable since they are situated so far from the city. There were no dine in options but the takeout service seemed very efficient. We ordered a aburi lovers set and some variety nigiri. The portions were very generous and affordable and fish was very fresh. I really enjoyed their saba and toro with the fattiness of the fish coming through very well. Hotate was plump and sweet. The tamago was a nice end to the meal with an almost cake like taste, very comforting. Only disappointment was the tako which was on the chewier side. Not sure if it was their style but the sushi rice was not as vinegary as I am used to. Just personal preference I guess.

    Chirashi platter

Came here with my girlfriend and we treated ourselves to a platter. The presentation is absolutely beautiful!! This was SO much food, we were able to pack 2 portions to go even after we stuffed ourselves! We ordered the Chirashi Baby Platter to share and it was around $30 per person! It had hamachi, hokkigai, loads of fish eggs, tuna, tamago, on a bed of rice ~ The server was so kind and funny - and the service was great! Small and cozy restaurant feel as well. I love this place!

Still the same as before. Delicious sushi. The shop is more pick-up friendly now and has been since Covid days. Fish were very fresh.

Starting off my reviews with one of my go-to sushi restaurants in Vancouver. This is a location that has been growing in popularity and one I first heard of because of my friends in Richmond. Although small, with only about 6-8 tables, it's mighty. [ My Order ] I don't think you can really go wrong with ordering any of the options on the menu. Some of my favourites are the uni, toro and chu-toro nigiri. They also have a nicely done salmon oshi-- although this is no Miku, it still satisfies my cravings. [ Vibes ] Again, it's a very small location so try to call-in to put your name in advance or, go before/after your lunch/dinner rush. [ Recommend ] Yes! Honestly, a no-brainer if you're ever in Richmond. It is a bit difficult to transit to, so I do recommend driving as they do have a decently sized parking lot available. I wouldn't recommend groups larger than 6 because it'll get quite cozy.

We ordered the basic single layer sushi cake for a family birthday. It was definitely a hit, especially with the birthday girl! meticulously assembled and with great detail - not only did it look fantastic, it tasted better than it looked. All the elements were fresh and delicious - and it did not fall apart when cut. We also ordered their "wowk" party tray, and yes, it was also very well put together. They are very accommodating and a well run operation. Support local small business during these pandemic days has been our goal. We're glad to have had the opportunity to try out this lovely place, well worth the drive across town!

    Uni and toro nigiri

An okay sushi spot in Richmond. I come here often because I live close. Expect long wait times so please order early. Takeout only at this time. Some cuts of fish aren't always the most fresh but that's what you would expect at this price point. Their aburi nigiri aren't as good as Miku but it'll do when I don't want to drive all the way to downtown. Their sushi rice also isn't my favourite.

    Salmon belly sashimi
    Teri L.

Great find by my sister for her birthday! This small restaurant only has 4 booths and a small table so lots of people end up ordering out or coming early. We were able to make a reservation but I think they don't take reservations on most nights. We had the Aburi Lovers Set which came with 6 Aburi Wild Salmon Oshizushi's and 1 piece each of: Aburi Salmon Toro Nigiri, Aburi Hamachi Toro Nigiri, Aburi Spicy Hotate Ikura Nigiri, Aburi Saba Nigiri, Aburi Engawa Nigiri, Aburi Unagi Nigiri. Every piece was unique and full of flavour. The wild salmon Oshi was double tiered, and topped with a spicy jalapeno. The Salmon belly sashimi was so fresh and fatty. The saba nigiri was pretty solid but not as 'melt in your mouth' as the saba at Tentasu. Our favourite of the night went to the Engawa nigiri. It was the first time we've ever tried it and we loved it! Great overall quality, -1 star for how long we waited for our food.

1/2 house roll, Ika nigiri, uni (chopped) nigiri, 2 chuu toro nigiri, toro nigiri, salmon toro nigiri, hotate nigiri
    Cristalle L.

This tiny sushi joint serves super fresh fish at a fair price. It gets packed and does a ton of take out orders so definitely go super early or at odd hours (ie. in between lunch and dinner times). I've tried their nigiri and their specialty rolls and although specialty rolls were decent, I think their star items are definitely the nigiri, which showcase the freshness of the fish. Their chuu toro is so fatty and melt in your mouth I'm drooling just thinking about it! If only it wasn't so far away from me, I'd be there every week! Pro-tip from my friend: If you eat in and feel like your order isn't enough (because you always want more of that toro!) make sure you put in your add-ons as soon as you can because the chefs work solely based on bill order; they won't prioritize your additions just because you're eating in. If it's a busy night for takeout, you might be waiting 30 minutes or more!

    Sex bomb

I have been coming to this little place for awhile now and recommended to most of my friends. This little place is one of those places don't judge a book by its cover because it's as small as it gets for a tiny sushi place to cater to endless take out orders and a few tables for dining in. It is easily one of the best sushi take out place in terms of quality and price. As for dining in, it's so so cause its dining space is like eating in a shoe box and the service is a hit and miss. As of now, I don't think there is any sushi place that offers you such quality specialty fishes for such a low affordable price. Anyone who have eaten or been here know what I am saying. And if you haven't try this place yet, I highly recommend it if you are into the specialty fishes such as blue fin tuna, engawa, uni, etc..., Anyways, was in the area during the long weekend and had an urge for some bluefin tuna and uni so dropped by for a dine in and here were the food I ordered; 1. Sex bomb (6pcs). Fresh oysters topped with ikura, tobiko, uni, green onions and it's house sauce. Fresh and delicious! Pretty sexy! 2. Urchin crabby oshi. One of my favourite oshi here, if you are a fan of crab and uni then this is recommended! 3. Uni ikura tobiko, kani miso, uni nigiris. Fresh and delicious especially if you like uni. The kani miso is nice too, a little exotic flavour. 4. Engawa, foie gras, salmon, ebi, hamachi, toro, walu, chu-toro, o-toro nigiris. Fresh! The chu toro and o-toro were great! The only thing I had to complained about are the albacore tuna toros weren't quite toro, first time this happened. And the sushi rice needed a bit more seasoning and a bit more hand still in making it firmer cause they fell apart each time I picked up a nigiri. Overall, great sushi for a great price. Its dine in is a hit and miss so whatever, but definitely recommended this place for sushi take out. And during special holidays such as Mother's Day, etc.., preorder a day in advance. 2.5 stars for dine in cause of its service being a hit and miss. And a 3.5 to 4 stars for being easily one of the best sushi take out place in terms of quality and price.

    Sushi Lovers Combo
    Terisa D.

An unseemingly hidden gem in an industrial plaza on Railway and Blundell! Fresh, quality fish for a really affordable price, I highly recommend checking out Sushi Lovers if you're in the area! Quick and friendly service, but the space is quite cramped and small. There are only 3 tables, but that's because this place mostly offers take out and wholesales sashimi. The food and vibe of the place definitely makes up for its lack of service and small space as it is tasty, light, and refreshing. The fish has the right bite and served at the right temperature. I really enjoyed the quality of the sushi Lovers combo!

    Assorted Nigiri in the back
    Bella C.

Sushi Lovers in Richmond is definitely a place to check out for special sushi rolls! A small little restaurant on Blundell and Railway, they serve some of the best OSHI SUSHI ! The rice is perfectly cooked and the seafood here is fresh. The Mermaid Oshizushi was my absolute favourite as IT WAS TOPPED WITH UNI ! The oshi had hamachi, hotate scallops, uni, and tobiko to make for a seafood lover's perfect bite. The Beluga Oshizushi was still delicious, as it had blue fin tuna, mango, and chopped scallop, but it didn't leave as big of an impression on me, as the Mermaid had. If you just want to stick to regular nigiri and maki sushi, their assorted sushi nigiri was delicious as well. I highly recommend their IKA nigiri! I love squid anything squid . In comparison to my post on Affordable Aburi sushi in Vancouver, Sushi Lover's sushi is definitely on the pricier side as the Oshi Sushi were $15.95 for 6 pieces, and $12.95 for the assorted nigiri. Definitely a treat!

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. This location is inside the CF Richmond Center mall. My party of 4 was able to get seated immediately on a Saturday around 12:45pm. Once seated, there will be a paper where you can individually mark your order at each person's seat. I opted to get the 6 hand roll set along with the salmon aburi oshi. The salmon oshi was very meh IMO, but some others in my party liked it. It was kind of tasteless to me, and the servers suggested not having it with soy sauce, but my friends said it actually tasted better with soy sauce. As for the hand rolls, they were pretty good; my favorites were the toro and the truffle lobster, which is more unique and not something I usually see at other hand roll bars. Service was generally quite good, with our waters and ginger being refilled. We were also offered an explanation of the menu when we were seated as it was our first time dining here. However I feel like the wait time between rolls was a bit of a let down. Similar to some other hand roll bars I've been to, it seems like the order in which parties were served was kind of random. For example, other parties would get 2-3 hand rolls in a row before we got one. Also, even within my party, 2 people got 2 hand rolls in a row before I even got one. It was a bit strange and I wish the service was a bit more balanced. Pricing was also on the higher side - the hand rolls aren't super big so even a 6 set hand roll ($39) didn't leave me feeling completely full.
