Little skeptical of how they can do it so cheap which has me guessing at the quality of what they get. But all that was ordered seemed fresh and good. Sushi Masa is your typical Japanese type Sushi place. If you are like me and EAT A TON when you go for Sushi then Sushi Masa is a pretty solid pick with the "All-You-Can-Eat" Option. For rolls, the prices are pretty average and good quality. I am a sashimi kinda girl so the all-you-can-eat is the only way to do it. The lunch all you can eat is the best option for sure at $16 but you will pay more at dinner around $26. I was disappointed that the size of the sashimi was TINY so you definitely want to order a good amount your first round or else you will be waiting for a while to get your next. Great miso soup and average at best ginger dressing salad. The environment is clean and nothing out of the sushi restaurant ordinary. Had I went to college at LSU I definitely would've been a regular at Masa. For what you get it's a decent amount of offerings that are all made to order as part of the AYCE. Nowadays I don't go for too many of these "popular sushi rolls" but hey why not.... My favorite uramaki rolls: LSU Roll TNT Roll Crunchy Crunchy Roll Double Spicy Roll Lobster Bomb Roll - nice touch with the presentation. Spicy Shrimp Skewer - PASS on this! Unfortunately my shrimp had a rancid strong scent. I sent this back and decided not to risk getting sick so no re-fire! The Onion Tempura was perfect they cut them in big round slices. Cause I'm not a fan of thinly sliced onion rings. If I came back I would get the Mango Salmon, Tuna tartare. The paper thin sliced Sashimi was average good and my favorite which I ordered several times was the seared pepper tuna. If you are sitting at the sushi bar....don't expect much interaction with the chefs. Both of them weren't very affable. They had personalities of watching paint dry but brought orders out efficiently at least! This is one of my favorite places to go in Baton Rouge. It isn't the fanciest or highest quality sushi in the city, but it certainly is good! The all you can eat sushi is just so awesome. I love to go here with friends and just get a bunch of different things that we can all try. You have to be super hungry when you go because there are no leftovers for the all you can eat allowed to make sure you eat everything you order. Ordered our drinks and apps; drinks out in two minutes and apps in about 4 to 5 minutes. Ordered our rolls in between drinks and apps. The 8 rolls we ordered came out in under 10 minutes. 3 were cooked and came out about 2 minutes after getting the other 5 rolls. Ethan was quick to refill our drinks too. Not sure of the experiences others have had with the long wait, but it was complete opposite. It wasn't a slow night and they weren't packed to the max. Overall it was excellent service!! Food: 4.5 The rolls we ordered were very good. Again, we are fans of Geisha and I've been to Uchi so I'm picky about my sushi. Uchi is on a different level though. While some of the food were okay, we felt as if the waitress was very slow and did not come often to let us reorder. They had a lot of stuff that were out when we were there.. All the portions were very small!! So make sure to order as much as you can. We made the mistake and ordered one of each potentials, and the portions were like hobbit size!! A rare 5 stars from me! This is coming from both my wife (not a yelp reviewer) and I! In the past we have not had much luck with "all you can eat" sushi as it's basically a "buffet" and is mediocre at best. However, this place for lunch was really busy, but service was prompt. As busy as they were, the items we ordered came out promptly and was very very delicious. So delicious that we ended up ordering more of the same appetizers and rolls until we were so full we couldn't go on. Looking back, I believe we ordered almost everything on the menu, and left no grains of rice behind! Between my wife and I and my little sister (who lives somewhere in the west coast) we definitely approve. We had my two youngest children with us and my son also loved it! The price is reasonable. The environment was clean for the most part, we were one of the first customers for the day and the table we sat at was sticky, and the staff (Jordan) was friendly and very prompt. The place is good for families and for kids. Overall, it was a good experience and we will be going back. I was assisting Baton Rouge PD a few months back. while I was here, someone told me about this place and I've made the drive twice from New Orleans and worth every penny spent during the trip here. Don't be turned away because it's "all you can eat sushi" for a set price...it's prepared as you order it, which makes it as fresh as you can get! Another thing I've noticed which makes it a step above the rest, when you get refills they'll bring you a whole new glass with your beverage to prevent cross contamination.
