Sushi N U makes absolutely delicious sushi AND and has a wonderfully happy and helpful staff. I've now been in twice on Saturday nights to place my pick up order (you can call in to order and place an online order too.) Each time, I was asked by several employees if I wanted something to drink while I waited for my order. That does NOT happen at any other restaurants and I am impressed at how thoughtful the staff is! Now onto the sushi....it's all delicious. My favorites are the Baked Lobster Roll (the baby lobster is delectable!) and the Las Vegas Roll (the light breading compliments the eel and salmon so well), but the other rolls we've ordered have also been fantastic. I've seen the owners working both times I've been in to order and they enjoy working hard and small talking with customers. The sushi is the best I've had in Phoenix. The love you feel from the staff is even more reason to visit this restaurant the moment you have a craving for sushi. *Tip 1* They have a full bar! Sushi N U is a gem! I'm so glad it's in my neighborhood. Fresh ingredients, reasonable price and super friendly staffs. Owners Kee and Suki always welcome everyone with a big smile. I loved Got Sushi restaurant when they owned in Mesa, I'm thrilled that Sushi N U now is near me. Can't wait to go back again soon! Highly recommend! read more

Love this place. Great food, great service, great selection. You must try their Garlic Fried Rice! Pork is the best choice of protein for it. And Galbi/Kalbi (Short Ribs) super tasty. Their Sushi/Sashimi is also really good. My GF and I come here at least once a month, sometime twice a month. read more

Ki and Suki own Sushi N U and they previously owned GotSushi before selling it during pandemic. The same quality they provided at GotSushi can be found at their new location. My wife does not care for calamari but loves the fried calamari here. No tentacles, they use the body of the squid cut into steaks and fried in tempura batter- she loves it as it is tender. Ki is the sushi maker and has been making sushi for over 30 years- I would say he is a master who knows his craft and is accommodating in making changes to sushi depending on your taste- if you find the sauce is too spicy for your taste he will make it without sauce or use a sauce you prefer for example eel sauce which is sweet vs. sirracha sauce that is spicy. Menu has basically same rolls and sashimi as other sushi restaurants however, my wife has witnessed Ki throwing out a piece of fish that did not meet his satisfaction. I was hesitant on getting sushi in a land-locked state but my friends insisted as for some of them, it was their first time to Japanese cuisine. While I was disappointed with someone in the group ordering California Roll, I was impressed by both the quality of the dishes ordered and offered and the service. I am simple when it comes to Japanese cuisine: sashimi, some nigiri, a side dish (usually a salad), and some hot sake. The squid salad I had was actually spicy, which I enjoyed fully. The sashimi was excellent, and one of the owners came by our table a few times to let us know the quality and how fresh the batch was. There was a mix-up with the total amount due but that did not affect the wonderful experience I had; including a small birthday celebration. Kanpai! read more

Wow! I have been such a fan of these owner's previous restaurant that I followed then to their new endeavor, they did not disappoint. I am so disappointed with how awful this place was. Maybe it's because I got sushi to go? Everything was doused in a sticky sweet sauce to the point where the only flavor that came through was the overly fishy taste of the sushi. I have no idea if this was a one off experience or what, but I am so upset with my lunch. In addition to a few rolls- which were priced amazingly, which is why there are 2 stars instead of 1- I ordered fried rice. I don't know how this is possible but the rice tasted like nothing other than black pepper. There was no garlic, no salt, the veggies were definitely frozen because they were complete mush along with the rice. I will not be back and unfortunately, I have no interest in giving this place a second chance. Such a bummer too because the service was very friendly, the employees were kind. read more

The service was great. The food on the other hand was the worst we have had in years! The tuna they use is from a can. The fried rice has no flavor at all. We sent back 2 items because they tasted horrible and we were still charged. Absolutely horrible! Never again nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

First time visiting and it was wow when we arrived, the only customers in the place for about 20 minutes. The atmosphere is inviting and the workers were warm and welcoming as soon as we got in. We got sushi and it was very tasty and well priced, the hot sake was smooth and delicious. I felt that we could have been checked in on more than once, but everything was tasty that we ordered (we got the G&G, Sushi n2, rainbow, the love roll, dragon roll, and the K.S roll) would recommend, and will be back! We where on the east side of town and craving sushi and found this spot on google search. I'm so happy we did! The food was amazing and the service was just as equally amazing. Fried rice was so delicious and the rolls just amazing. If you like edamames try the spicy ones. Definitely recommend. They are covered in this delicious garlicky spicy sauce. Definitely coming back when we are in this side of town. read more

My first pint was a Hefeweizen. It had a slight waxy mouthfeel. My second pint was an oatmeal stout. At 7.3% ABV it was a tad strong, but it went down very smoothly. I snacked on some free popcorn but it was seasoned with a strong spice. Thankfully I could help myself to the water fountain. I enjoyed the ambiance and will be back.

Your food could be just average and still draw big crowds. When you have bad service, it doesn't matter how good the food is. This place has serious potential if they can get service squared away.

Dive bar feel that is clean and has charm and a great neighborhood vibe. The band in the corner didn't drown out our conversation and played old country music that was fun and upbeat. Our waiter was great offering suggestions and checking in on us regularly. Where the disappointment came in was our food and drinks. We ordered sliders, quesadilla, and the Philly cheesesteak. All of them were "fine" with the sliders being more bread than slider and same for the Philly. The quesadilla was the best of the options and had lots of ingredients packed in. Our drinks were also less than ideal as they seemed to have zero alcohol. If you are gonna drink go with beer since what you see is what you get. Cocktails were short pours and watered down. I even called them out after the first one and nothing changed with the second so I stopped donating. At the End of the Day, Good Time Charlis is not a bad stop and I'm sure the regulars are die hard. So if you go, let me help in my experience and simply order a quesadilla, beer of choice, and listen to the band...the best part of the night.

I would probably skip the white oak grilled skewers, though. They were pretty burnt, and unfortunately, they didn't really stand out to me compared to the other dishes. The ribeye was cooked to absolute perfection. We asked if they could prepare the two halves of the ribeye at different temperatures since my wife prefers her steak closer to medium, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. They even comped our milk bread because it took a little longer than expected to come out, which was a really nice gesture. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and some really memorable dishes. Definitely recommend checking this steakhouse out if you're in the Phoenix area!
