I've been to Sushi Nine a handful of times when I was at NC State, and a couple times since the pandemic hit. I really appreciate that they have outdoor dining and that sanitizing is the standard. I haven't had a dish here that I didn't like! They have bogo sushi which always makes me happy. What makes me even happier is the sushi is good! Just an FYI if you don't like the sushi on bogo there maybe an issue returning it since it is bogo. My friend didn't like her "free" roll and wanted to switch the roll. There was an issue but the manager was nice and let her switch out the roll. I've also had the hibachi chicken and panang chicken. Both dishes were good with great portion sizes. read more

First time here and it was easy to locate which was helpful. My waiter was Jaime and she was pretty attentive and overall good (highly recommended her.) The restaurant was clean. I put 3 stars because of the quality of food. It was okay sushi, however, I lost interest when I bit into the stem of the avocado. A piece was left inside of the sushi. Still love Sushi Nine! It's popular, we waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2, on Saturday at 8:15. Worth the wait though! Sushi is always good, always BOGO. I got the Sexy Girl ($13) and Volcano roll ($14). Sexy girl was good, but not my favorite ever. Volcano roll was super unique and the flavors were spot-on. It's only 6 rolls though, but considering how much is loaded on top before being baked, it's def fair. My husband ate all of the Carolina roll (it seemed most traditional/raw, funny about the name) and loved it. The stars are for the food and not the service. We were a party of 6 so they automatically charged the tip, that's fine, but the service lady wasn't attentive at all, she was rude. I got dynamite and the volcano baked sushi both were so good. Don't get the ceviche, it has nothing to do with ceviche. The curry noodles were good. We came on a Friday at 12 and it got busy quickly so I would account for that. Parking lot that belongs to the restaurant has plenty of space. read more

Words of advice...it's not the same Sushi Nine. Since the fire, I finally made a stop to check out the newly remolded Sushi Nine. As a long time supporter and fan of the original restaurant, the interior is much better, spacious, and well lit! This was the only plus. The sushi was not the same, I guess it's a new head​ chef and cooks? I know my sushi at sushi nine and it was way off. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. and decided to wait an hour for a table. We received the worst seat in the house by the bathroom hallway and sushi bar. We were given a heads up that we would have to wait approximately​ 45 minutes to an hour for sushi. We were okay with the wait since we've already waited an hour to get a seat. We ordered appetizers to pass time. We went with the gyozas and cream cheese wontons. They were average and nothing special. Let's talk about the main event! We ordered our usual BOGO sushi. When the sushi arrived, it looked a bit off. Let's just say that all 4 rolls were super off! It was tasteless and I'm not even exaggerating​. The rolls that I was used to had a punch of flavor without having to dip it into soy sauce. We looked at each other after the second bite and knew that something was wrong. Two years of waiting for my favorite sushi ​lead to this very moment... Ate here with my brother and this was the coloration on his salmon sushi. Not very appetizing. They didn't seem to mind the fish looked 1,000 days old even though it was "just a blood vessel". Told us we should know better...kind of a rude. We will not be back. read more

It has been YEARS since I have been in this building! The remodel looks great. My first time dining with Sushi Nine and I enjoyed it. I would equate it with Sushi Iwa in Apex but not as good as Sushi Thai in Cary. The BOGO sushi rolls are on the small side but PLENTY to eat when you order two and lots of choices. The salt and pepper calamari was "fine" but very little salt or pepper LOL - no legs, just the rings. The sauce was bottled spring rolls sauce served in a plastic container. My husband liked the General Tso Chicken and the side Salad was good too. The service was a bit spotty but with two beers our lunch was $50. I plan to return to try the Poke bowls. read more

Sushi Nine is definitely a solid place for sushi in the Triangle, and their rolls are affordable since everything is BOGO. My family and I ordered takeout a few days ago, but I have also been to the restaurant in person prior to COVID-19 and have enjoyed it every time. This time around, we ordered 4 rolls: caterpillar roll, lobster roll, sweet dragon roll, and syrax roll. All 4 were fantastic and tasted very fresh; I personally enjoyed the caterpillar and lobster rolls the most. Will certainly come back in the future! read more

I was surprised that Sushi Nine serves a broad range of Asian cuisine. It predominantly had Japanese food but also had a good selection of Thai. Don't know how that is though, this review is solely based on my experience eating sushi. Went in on a Friday for lunch and it was quite busy. The restaurant is pretty big, so that's a plus. The open floor plan makes it spacious too. They have a "2 rolls for the price of 1" deal on during lunch, which is great. You definitely leave with a full belly. Out of the two rolls I got, i enjoyed the firecracker roll more. It was super tasty with a good kick of spice. The food can take some time to come, especially if busy (which is what happened to us). The new restaurant space is great! I was devastated when I learned that they had a fire that destroyed the restaurant. I attended NCSU and had come to Sushi Nine many times. I was very excited when I heard that not only did they intend to rebuild, but they would also have the same menu. A few days ago a couple friends of mine and I went to lunch. We decided to meet at 11:30 to beat the lunch rush. Firstly, the new building is much larger and more open than the original which is a plus! The parking lot is also larger as well. They also now have outside seating areas as well. When we went it was a bit chilly and wasn't a rush so nobody was sitting outside. The inside is beautiful! There's so much more room and it is very modern. The bar is larger and more well placed than the original building as well as the sushi bar. They have BOGO sushi like most of the other sushi restaurants in the area. They also have a large menu of other items as well. Although the sushi is really good, so are there other menu options. They have all types of Asian cuisine options! Their drink and sushi menus are also extensive. All of the sushi rolls I have had or tasted are great! I fell in love with the Drunken Noodles on one visit, so I frequently get that with chicken. Their prices are extremely reasonable as well. On this particular visit we ordered edamame to share. It was about $4 and was a large portion. There were 3 of us and we all got a good portion of it. Since we went for lunch the price for my chicken Drunken Noodles was $8.95 which is awesome, especially for a pretty good sized lunch portion. I have always had good service and had good service on that day as well. I have heard that since reopening wait times are lengthy, but if you know that going in then it shouldn't be too bad. I came into the restaurant tonight and was told to sit at the bar. Which I was ok with because I was a party of one. When The bar tender asked me what I wanted to drink I said water for now but will get a beer with my meal. After about 10 min of looking over the menu I was ready to order and I sat there waiting for the bar tender to take my order. During my wait time a few more people came and right away got their drink and food order in a timely manner. I was there for 45 min and the bartender never once asked to take my order she ignored me the whole time. I got up and left. I was so disappointed in the service that not sure if I will ever go back. The calamari was not the best. Very hard to chew and didn't appear fresh. I did get the vegetable fried rice with fried tofu, it was very good. We tried the vampyress roll and the deep ocean roll. The prices are reasonable but the portion sizes are smaller than average. My main complaint is that the food is average to me. Doesn't seem particularly fresh or savory. If you're a college kid and want some sushi this is a decent option, but if you are into real deal hard core authentic Asian dishes and sushi I would recommend Waraji. Unfortunately, our sevice was absolutely terrible. It took nearly 15 minutes for our server to make it to our table to take our drink order and at least another 15 to get just our waters. The wait for our draft beer was even longer. With this being our first visit we wanted to know what our waitress recommended.
