Sushi x Sake Sushi Blues is a great introduction to eating sushi for newcomers. Their BOGO sushi allows for customers to try different sushi rolls without having to break the bank. In my opinion this is a perfect place for date night in Raleigh, NC My wife and I tend to always sit in the bar area at one of the booths. My sushi was so good and flavorful. I'm very picky about my sushi and this was delicious. I really loved the deep fried shrimp topping. We sat outside, b/c the weather was beautiful and the servers were awesome. They were very nice, attentive and very patient while dealing with my indecisiveness because I love sushi and I would have the whole menu if I could. I also love the fact that they were able to customize my sushi to my liking. I also had a margarita, which was ok It could've been a little bit stronger. Overall, nice outdoor seating b/c you can view the strip of interesting things while enjoying your food at the same time. Dinner and a show!! read more

Was staying up the street on Glenwood at the AC hotel and it was a five minute walk to Sushi Blues. Immediately the host walked us to our table. Everyone in the building has great energy. The server gave great recommendations and remembered the dairy allergy from the first sushi order. I'm a big fan of seaweed salad and this was like most, crunchy and long spirals of seaweed. Keep in mind the BOGO sushi is everyday so it's a must! read more

I was really looking forward to my visit to Sushi Blues Cafe, but unfortunately, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I started with the Applesauce Martini, which was delicious--definitely the highlight of my meal. For my food, I ordered the BOGO deal with the Sweet Home Alabama roll and the Galefinakis roll. Sadly, the rolls were disappointing. The rice was gummy, and neither roll tasted fresh, which made it hard to enjoy. The ginger had such a strange flavor that I couldn't eat it; I actually had to spit it out into my napkin. read more

This was my first time and definitely not my last! The food was so good and the service was even better. Store and bathroom nice and clean. Parking only on side of street. So if you can't parallel park you are out of luck.....unless there was something I didn't see. read more

Great tastes at a great price with their BOGO deals :) I've been here about 4x in 2 weeks. Great variety of sushi to choose from as well and I personally recommend the TJ Warren roll. Service could be better; there have been times I found myself wondering where our server disappeared off to. read more

was excited to try this place but honestly the food was just so off. the edamame was pretty good, quite over salted and expensive for the amount. there were also varying prices of the same thing depending on where you looked on the menu. miso soup was just ok. but the sushi. god awful. something about it tasted so wrong. i couldn't have more than like four pieces of it. the rice tasted old and dried out and there were no sauces or anything that brought out any kind of flavor. i had to douse it in spicy mayo just to feel a little something. bogo is great but id rather pay $15 for one great roll than 2 below average ones. my stomach also felt horrible after eating here. service was great. our server was so kind and attentive but the food? hard pass. read more

Oh man Sushi blues really is not that great..... Not sure how folks can give this place more than 2 stars... Only thing it might have going for it is nice servers and the outdoor patio... Other than that????? lets just say grocery store sushi is probably better.... The wait here is incredibly long for what it is... sure might be due to limited patio seating but damn ..... it was long Yeah this place might offer BOGO sushi but there is a reason for it.... ordered 2 rolls (wolfpack and yellow brick road) and sashimi appetizer and lets just say left more than half of each roll on touched.... and the sashimi appetizer was tough to take down... not sure if it was an off day or what but the sushi/sashimi here is very low grade/quality and not good at all. The Server and the outside patio were nice, but I think thats all it had going for it. Food is just awful, the other sushi place 1 block up is 100X better... its like night and day between the two spots. So if you want to go for volume and price vs quality than I guess Sushi Blues is where you go... but hell... the AYCE Rockin Sushi Carousel would be this place... read more

I've been coming here for years. I have recently noticed that the crowd is slowly getting lighter. The menu has changed. The restaurant is always clean. The staff is always great. This time, along with when I went about 1-2 months ago, they didn't have the white sauce (yum yum sauce/spicy Mayo, whatever you want to call it.) VERY DISAPPOINTING. I would not have ordered Sushi had I known BEFORE placing my order. The sushi wasn't good to us. Didn't seem the same, not as fresh. We normally love this place. Yesterday, not so much. Hello People I went to Sushi Blue last Wednesday night July 2nd I got the rainbow Roll and the Santana Roll which I never Tried until that night. The next morning I was sick throwing up all over the place, I had food poisoning I thought I was dying. The doctor confirmed my thoughts, as that was the last place I ate. This is our favorite sushi restaurant! We love the edamame, and always get a large order. We rarely eat inside, we enjoy outside to see the happenings on Glenwood ave. They sushi is always bogo and they have a large variety. The service is always great and we never have complaints. I suggest you make a reservation on the weekends, because it stays busy. read more

Horrible Service!! I've been coming here for years and the level of service is just getting worse. The staff doesn't care if a table has been seated for over 15mins and no one has come to bring them water or take their order. They will just walk by and attend to their tables. It's such a shame that a place was such good food could have such horrible servers and managers. Our server took our order. someone else delivered our food, she never checked back on us, we were out of drinks. we are out of sauces, had to get up and find her just to pay the check, at which point we found her at the bar talking to someone I assume was her boyfriend. When I asked to see the manager, the bartender told me he was the manager, I explained to him what happened, at which point our server returned with my check, the manager turned around and walked away without any response to the situation. Again, the food is fantastic, if they could just get the service to match. read more

If I'm going to a sushi restaurant and am spending good money, I want to make sure it's on something quality. I love eating sushi but I can't say I'll be going here for sushi. It was a great atmosphere and am glad it appeals to a majority of people who might not be used to sushi but would not consider it to be flavorful or fresh. The eel sauce felt like it was watered down and insanely sweet for what it should be. The spicy mayo didn't have any spice, it just felt like slightly more red Kewpie mayo with not much flavor. It's got a great location and cool atmosphere but it could be better. read more

Honestly this place is always pretty terrible anytime I've been. I've only been more than once because friends have invited me for a birthday or something. The sushi is pretty low quality. The service is sub par and when I decided to try something that wasn't sushi on my recent time there, it was also bad. I got the chicken or pork(can't remember) katsu and there was barely any meat in it. I had a few pieces that were literally just breading. It was supposed to come with veggies, which was never brought out and then when I asked for my veggies and had gotten them, I had regretted asking for it. It was literally just boiled vegetables that had absolutely no seasoning, not even salt and pepper. The food here is consistently bad and so is the service. At least they're consistent. read more

Thought this was a cool idea for Mother's Day since we could get some cool drinks and have sushi in a trendy spot. We were wrong. First my Ray Charles cocktail came with a hair in it. Service was not very attentive overall although they re-made my drink. Food was not great. I didn't even bother to take pics because it was that underwhelming although I had to take a pic of the "presentation" of the oyako-don. The sauces for this and the katsudon were overly salty. Both were visually unappealing...reminds me of cafeteria food. Quality of the sushi was also not there for a place that has sushi in their name. It was a few steps down from supermarket sushi but you wouldn't know it if it's drenched in sauces. Sushi rolls are BOGO. Our waiter made sure to point out that gratuities should be calculated BEFORE the discount. WTH??? I have no issues tipping well for excellent service but that was blatant. We overheard another waiter say that to another patron as well. We definitely don't recommend and definitely won't be back. There's way better sushi, drinks and service out there. read more

A different kinda sushi place. Almost a music dive kinda feel. Sushi is good. They are BOGO all the time. We had the Rolling Stones, the Carmen and a Avocado roll they modified for us. They have some original rolls on the menu. Wait staff was super helpful. There was a bit of a wait for the food (30 minutes) but we enjoyed the time. I recommend for sure. Prob not best place for kids - tables are sorta close together. Good date place. Casual. read more

I'm not sure when their POS system was changed but why can't sushi & everything else be on the same ticket. It really seems as if you & your staff are getting over on your customers. Two tickets means twice the tip. I am aware that there's an edit option so you don't have to tip twice but why put people in that predicament to begin with. I love coming but here lately servers can't divide a ticket evenly & to tell a customer oh it's only $4 dollars or so I have that in my pocket if you really need it is utterly ridiculous! What if that money was extremely needed. Who knows others money habits & that shouldn't matter, if the money is owed give it to the customer. Make sure the ticket is correct. I would like to come back & dine in very soon. Hopefully you can address & correct these issues very soon. read more

We came here for a graduation celebration and it was delicious!! This was my second time coming here and I haven't had sushi I didn't enjoy; I got the Bradley Chubb and the Dave Doeren this time. I'm from Maryland and whenever I come to NC to visit my cousin, they make it a priority to come here, if not at least once, maybe twice in the time I'm staying. If you're looking for value and quality, this place has got it. They have the best sushi options and huge variety for vegetarians. Their customer service is amazing here. Later I saw the actual restaurant is a bit small with a few tables and sushi bar so I'm thinking they have out grown their space and after eating the food I can understand how that happened. As mentioned it has a small footprint but we didn't wait long. Our server was very kind and provided excellent service. We started with the gyoza which were out of this world! They had the perfect char on the dumpling without making it too seared. The Sashimi plate was incredible, each piece of fish melted in your mouth. If I have to give one critique I'd say our yellow tail was still a little frozen but that didn't stop me from devouring it. Crispy Salmon Roll was light and refreshing and their Rainbow Roll was like no other I've had. My husband and I have two reference points when it comes to sushi; mine is Japan where I was introduced to it as a young Marine, his is Hawaii where had the most amazing sushi about 5 years ago. Not many places can compare to those experiences but Sushi Mon was VERY close!

Sorry but sushi roles reminded me of the ones you get in the grocery store. Duck kushiyaki was recommended and tasted somewhat bland and tough. Came here for family birthday dinner. No body really liked the dishes here. Service: our server was very kind and tried his best to accommodate us. Great ambience but I don't see any of us coming back here for food.

It's located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, right next to the ABC 11 studios, easy to find and a great spot if you're already downtown. The ambiance is great and fits the food well. There's a nice mix of seating, tables along the windows looking out onto the street, high top tables, traditional dining tables, and a sushi bar if you want to sit up close and watch everything being made. It feels lively without being loud, and works well whether you're there for a date night or a more casual meal. We started with the Aburi appetizer, torched salmon belly, ooba, salmon roe, Japanese seabream, yuzu kosho, and ponzu, and it was outstanding. Everything worked together perfectly, rich, bright, and balanced. I also ordered ikura and ebi, even though I meant to order ama ebi, but no regrets there. Still excellent. We shared the Poke Roll with wakame, avocado, cucumber, mango, tuna, salmon, hamachi, and Sono poke sauce, and it was very good, fresh, flavorful, and well composed without being overdone. My wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. The broth was the star, deep and comforting, and the pork chashu pieces were massive, in a good way. I went with the chicken katsu curry, panko fried chicken thigh with house curry and koshihikari rice, something I haven't had since Little Tokyo in LA a few years ago, and it tasted like home. Comforting, familiar, and exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks, I ordered the "SONO? SO-YES!" entirely because of the name, but also because I love blood orange. Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, coconut cream, simple syrup, and blood orange juice, it was excellent. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it. My wife got the Okinawa Spritz, a play on an Aperol spritz with passionfruit, and it was even better than the original. We finished with the yuzu cheesecake. I debated between that and the ube cheesecake, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, yuzu felt right, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks hit. Bin was my server, he was great. I started with the grilled scallops, they were small, but were grilled & seasoned perfectly. I then ordered the Alaskan Roll & the Ajisai Roll. Both so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the experience. There's great ambiance, it's vibrant and modern. There's plenty of seating at the bar. There are plenty of tables inside and several outside.

It felt much closer to a traditional sushi experience than a typical AYCE setup. Service was also a big plus. The staff was very attentive, consistently checking in and bringing out orders quickly, which kept the experience smooth and enjoyable without long waits between rounds. For the price and quality, it's an incredible value and a place you can really enjoy without feeling like you're compromising. We will absolutely be going back!

The sushi there was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. They even went above and beyond offering up a complimentary bottle of wine and an assortment and amazing desserts. I ordered the teriyaki chicken without onions and our server was so awesome that she let me know that the ginger dressing on my salad contained onions. She wanted to make sure I didn't have an allergy. How amazing?! The chicken teriyaki and the veggies it was served with were absolutely AMAZING! Seriously, IDK what they did to those veggies but this may have been the best meal I've ever had! They gave my husband a scoop of mango icecream with a candle in it for his birthday. Love that! We are looking forward to our next visit to Waraji.
