Came back here after awhile for a family Sunday dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The waiting room was converted to a private room, which I think is a good idea.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] FIFA was playing and it was a 2-3. Service was fast and good as always. We miss the servers we had in the past. The new one forgot to give us the little plates. The food was great, I love the mussels, salmon, chicken wings as I am a non -sushi eater so it's wonderful they have a vast array of food on the menu. The serving is not like before, it's less but I understand the economy is affecting only the quantity and not the quality. Overall always good place to eat AYCE Sushi. We had a sushi counter and one guest ate 50 plus pieces! Weekend piece is dinner price for both lunch and dinner. I almost made another tip as there's a blank line on the receipt only to find out that gratuity is already in the check, so keep an eye on that. Sushi Okoku is still a place to go to when craving for sushi and more!

This is honestly the best sushi spot in the Inland empire. Does sushi always taste really fresh. The customer service is always amazing. Rare visit to Riverside but this place was recommended to us. Such a nice venue. Roomy with a modern decor. Of course we opted for the AYCE option. All the sushi was fresh and very good. The rice to fish ratio was on point. The nigiri was also proportioned perfectly. Not too much rice, just enough to fill you up. The service was excellent. The staff was always checking in on us. They always topped off our waters and made sure we were ok. Overall, a fantastic AYCE sushi spot. Definitely a top tier restaurant!

For my first time, it was a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had lots of fun watching celebrating people's birthdays through dinner. They turn of the lights and put on disco light and music. Sushi Okoku was an amazing sushi buffet experience (see below for individual reviews). You get the full rolls and cannot ask for half but the choices are great for different preferences (raw, cooked, no rice, tempura, etc.). During the meal rush, it can be a bit loud but overall ambience is great for a family/catch-up meal with friends. Servers were kind and on point with picking up empty plates. There were a couple of orders we didn't receive that we waited for and did not know were out of stock until we followed up with our waitress. Would definitely recommend following up if an order doesn't come timely or I would encourage Sushi Okoku to add this to their menu. 6/5 - Salmon/Seared Salmon Nigiri. This was the star of the show. The best thing about this AYCE sushi spot is the fish/rice ratio. The chefs do not add too much rice to each sashimi and you can feel comfortable ordering many servings. The fish is also fresh and you won't be disappointed. 5/5 - Scottish roll. One of their new rolls and brings a great combo of flavors from the salmon and crabmeat to the texture of crunch and softness from the avocado. Definitely give this one a try! 5/5 - Albatros Roll. I was a fan of all of their "No Rice" rolls as it doesn't make each roll feel too heavy. The albacore pairs very well with the fried onion. The usual crab meat, shrimp tempura, and cucumber makes this a very solid choice with unique flavor. 4/5 - Ultimate Salmon Roll. Not as much salmon to live up to the name and felt like there was a bit more pepper than desired but still makes for a great roll that you can order. If you like seared salmon in a non-nigiri form, you can get it here! 4.5/5 - Honeymoon Roll. Your regular salmon topped California roll without the rice. Always a classic to get if you love salmon with the nostalgic California roll flavor. While there's nothing too special about it, it won't disappoint! 4/5 - Angie's Roll. I felt that the salmon was a bit over-baked but it still came as a generous portion with a great combo of flavor. You get your baked salmon and scallop flavor combo which if you haven't tried you absolutely should! Not pictured but can't recommend enough: Orange Blossom and Salmon Lover. These no-rice rolls put salmon flavor to the max! You get a variety of salmon texture with the sauce/lack of sauce and are well complemented by the avocado/crab meat/jalapeno

Been to many AYCE sushi places and this one is above average. Pros: service is quick and there's plenty of variety to choose from. You have the freedom to order anything you want as you have an iPad where you order them directly to your table and photos are provided for everything. Plenty of seating. Cons: waiters are prone to stop by less because ordering is done by tablet. Some of the Mexican rolls were extremely lemony, making them inedible. They were somehow out of fried calamari and fried shrimp. The teriyaki beef appetizer was inedible. Because of the variety and great pricing, I give this place four stars.

A little disappointed in some. The last round didn't come out and we ended up paying and leaving. The onions where nothing like before, where there were tempura and thinly sliced. They are now small bits of what tasted like dehydrated onions.

I've been to this location long ago when it was named something else. Sushi Okoku is next to America's Tire Company and offers $32.99 AYCE lunch. If you appreciate Mexican Sushi, this place is for you. Half their menu features jalapeño, habanero, pico de gallo, and/or agua chile. Berlin seated us and the order was placed on a tablet. The service was excellent and there's plenty of spacious seating. The food was delivered promptly and incorporating technology to streamline efficiency was evident. We had the Super Mexican, Jessica Albacore, and Yellowtail Habanero rolls. I also ordered a few pieces of Sashimi including Agua Chile Tilapia, Mexican Fusion Tuna, and Mexican Fusion Yellowtail. All was tasty, fresh, and bursting with flavor.

My husband is not a big fan of raw fish but he admits he loves the AYCE lunch served here. There is So much variety of appetizers and we like the Mexican fusion spins on sushi and sashimi. We think about this place often and wish we didn't live 3 hours away. Or maybe it's better we live so far so that we don't go too often The iPad ordering system is so convenient and food comes quickly. Service is prompt and courteous. Parking in the lot is easy and free.

One of my go to's! A genuine loyal customer to them, with their top notch prices, and quality! I would highly recommend their seared salmon and spicy tuna crispy rice! Dining in, you are ordering off an iPad with pictures and descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. We always opt in for take out instead, since we enjoy ordering a little bit of everything and sharing without stuffing ourselves to the max! They have 50% off rolls for to go orders, that we use to try everything we can. Our personal favorites are the golden tiger roll with cream cheese, shrimp tempura, crab! Overall sometimes their quality is a bit spotty some days, but I frequently order here all the time. Would still highly recommend.

By far the best sushi and ACYE in the area! Have the all you can eat and it didn't disappoint. most of the roles were half size of a regular size roll. Which made it better in my opinion, because you could try many different roles and not get stuffed on just a few. The service was great from start to finish. The servers were very attentive they cleared the tables very quickly and the food also came out quickly as well. Great variety of roles and each one tasted different so it didn't taste like you were having the same role with just a different type of sauce or topping. I highly recommend this place Check it out!

This place has pretty good sushi and a good all you can eat deal. Their appetizers can use some work. The service here is really good and I love their ordering system. They use individual tablets at your table so you don't have to wait for a waiter to come and take your order every time.

I came here for dinner alone for all you can eat sushi because I calculated that my home delivery order from a sushi place would cost just as much. All you can eat dinner as of this review date was 35.99. They leave an electronic tablet at your table to put your orders in. I ordered various nigiri, a rainbow roll, mixed tempura, and seaweed salad. The food tasted pretty good. I did think the rainbow roll looked a bit plain because there were only three kinds of toppings(salmon, avocado, and escolar I think) and I've been to other sushi places where they use other various toppings(tuna, eel, and others) besides the three I was given. The staff was very polite and the atmosphere was party-like, but it was a Friday night and supposedly half the dining room was celebrating birthdays (I think they gave cheesecake with sparklers to at least 5 people while I was dining). I do want to inform others when dining here that they add a 15% auto gratuity for parties of 1-4 and I think 18% for parties greater than 4. Since they did that, I only tipped a few dollars more. I did not want to end up giving a 35% tip. read more

5 Stars - Great Sushi & Even Better Service I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I had to for this spot. Sushi Okoku was such a pleasant surprise. The vibe is super chill, and the place is clean and welcoming -- nothing fancy, just good energy and even better food. Our server, Sarita, was awesome. Super friendly, easy to talk to, and really helpful with the menu. She gave great recommendations and checked in just enough without hovering. You can tell she actually enjoys her job, which makes a big difference. The sushi was fresh and delicious -- I especially loved the spicy tuna and salmon nigiri. Everything tasted clean and well-prepared. Prices were fair too, especially for the quality. Definitely coming back here. Great little spot with solid sushi and great people. I go here because the sushi is good, but the service can be mostly bad. Auto charge gratuity and they ask for gratuity on top of that. They are a team of servers instead of just one server for your visit. Results in thrown plates on your plate, and no one person to get an update on your food being delayed. read more

Food is always great. Tipping is automatically added even if it's a party of one. It's mandatory 15%. The bigger the part the higher the mandatory tips is. With that being said, I went in on Wednesday. They had about 16 tables of people during lunchtime but only 2 servers waiting and bringing out food. This is an AYCE sushi place so that is very poor service to automatically expect 15% mandatory service. Outstanding! I called the day before to ask if they were going to play NBA games the next day. The person that answered the phone was polite and said they would. I was greeted as soon as I arrived and the service was very good. I was able to sit with a view of the playoff game. There a couple of screens behind the bar. There are a couple of others as well. We got the all you can eat. There are so many roll choices and they were all delicious! The ordering is done through a tablet on the table. I'm not sure if ordering the old fashioned way (talking to a waiter/waitress) is an option, but it worked out well. The restaurant is in the corner of the shopping center, which Suri didn't do a good job of finding, but I found it anyway, haha. Excellent food, service, and ambience! read more

DING DING DING DING! We have a new champ for best AYCE sushi in the IE. And this is not to be taken lightly, since I'm a big AYCE sushi guy and have eaten at basically all of them in the Riverside area. Remember when Joe's Sushi was the only AYCE sushi in all of the IE (late 90's/early Y2K)? Well yea, I've been eating AYCE since then. Let's start off with service: all waitresses were very accommodating, not just the one appointed to us, which you rarely get nowadays. Food to the table very quickly, never sat long with empty plates, and cups always refilled. Special thanks to Roxy, Gabi, Shein, and Hanna for providing excellent service. As far as food goes, Okuku offers the most voracious ayce menu I've seen in general. Great appetizers, sushi, sashimi, and rolls offered. They also have some amazing Latin fusion options. The quality of fish was exemplary in the sashimi salad, which leads me to believe they have some of the freshest fish ingredients around. They offer you 3 rounds, and this particular visit we couldn't even make it past the 2nd. The value for food here is unmatched! read more

The Service...well let me say this, for as busy the night was, the staff are well mannered, very helpful, Service with a smile, polite, the food also was great, my family took advantage of the all you can eat. Every time we come here, we melt at how good the sushi is!!!! My husband and I always start off strong with 15+ orders of salmon, and that first bite is a ratatouille moment if you know what I mean. His faves are caterpillar and manager special, and mine are tropical delight and strawberry lemonade! It's always bomb!!!!!! Have you had AYCE sushi but with a Mexican and Latin fusion twist? I never had sushi like that before so I was definitely intrigued. What makes it Mexican and Latin fusion are the sauces and the limes used on the nigari and rolls. They also have ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR, which means drinks are 50% off anytime of the day! This includes cocktails so make sure to leave extra room in your belly for the drinks too! We were looking for a spot nearby that could deliciously satisfy our growing appetite after walking/hiking on an empty stomach at the Mount Rubidoux Trail, and this spot seemed to fit the criteria. For $32.99 per person for AYCE, they have so much to choose from on the menu that it really doesn't make sense to order a la carte. I'd recommend getting the AYCE option so you can try out their Mexican/latin fusion sushi nigari and rolls, carpaccios and no rice rolls. I would say the only minor downside was that we ordered the mango tango roll and the popular strawberry cheesecake roll, but both did not arrive. We got an Alaskan Roll instead which we didn't order, but we didn't want to waste food so we just kept it. To be fair, we did order quite a few items, so that might have caused this to happen. We were quite full and super satisfied with our meal so we didn't ask for it. As they serve full sized rolls even for AYCE, it would be nice if they could offer half sized rolls so people can try more rolls. There were so many rolls I wanted to try, but I got super full off my first round. If I only lived closer, I would definitely be a regular here. Prompt service, fresh fish and unique creations are what you can expect at Okoku Sushi. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Magnolia Ave. and Tyler St. -Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking spaces || A Y C E M E N U || What this spot has to offer that not many AYCE sushi spots offer is the Mexican/Latin nigari and rolls as well as seasoned seared salmon & tuna. They also got the carpaccios, fresh rolls, baked rolls, no rice rolls and tempura rolls. The carpaccios are limited to one order per person so I would definitely recommend ordering the maximum number of carpaccios that you can to get your money's worth! I find that the Mexican/Latin nigiri are similar to the carpaccios except they taste tangier due to the sauces. If I hadn't ordered so many rolls, I would have definitely ordered more of the Mexican/Latin nigiri. A couple of my favorites were the: all of the Mexican/Latin nigiri (tuna, salmon, yellowfail, tilapia, shrimp, octopus and albacore), Angie's roll (baked sushi), seared salmon ceviche roll and all the seared salmon & tuna! My family and I were craving all you can eat for dinner. It has been a while since we have tried our favorite spot so here we are. We came around 6:30pm and it was perfect time and not too busy and not long wait at all. We ordered from their iPad after we were seated. Had to wait since it was a busy weekend night but the 30-40 minutes went by quick. Once seated we placed a drink order of soju and a beer. The drinks and water were good! We ordered apps and sushi rolls. The first app came out and was the gyoza which was tasty- we then got our rolls and were missing the edamame. We finished one of the rolls and finally got to stop a waitress for our app. The Alaskan roll is tasty and one of my favs! The avocado bake is a miss- would not order. The spicy edamame is usually so good but this time was a miss especially coming at the end of our meal. Not sure what happen but we didn't have a dedicated waiter and we were still charged for the edamame that came at the end of our meal... There were quite a few birthdays this time where they adjust the lights and sing in whatever part of the restaurant the birthday is in. Fellow Asians, please PLEASE do not come to eat here. It is not for our tastebuds. Everything tastes like a sushi-flavored La Croix. As if they poured water or dunked the nigiri into a cup of water before it was sent out to you. Actually, not just the nigiri. Even the chicken katsu has no salt and no seasoning. Just drenched in a too-sweet katsu sauce. The house salad has ITALIAN dressing. WHAT?? The reviews are literal lies OR reviewed and owned by people who have never been to a Japanese restaurant let alone have any Asian person in their life because I assure you, I feel like I just ate some wet napkins. Even Sushi Asahi has enough flavor to tell you that their shit isn't good. Plus the mandatory tip is a major red flag. Seriously, skip this spot. Love that Sushi Okoku offers an All You Can Eat option that includes no rice rolls and sashimi a huge plus if you're watching your carbs or just want more variety. Everything tasted super fresh, and even though it was pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon, the service kept up well. It's also very family friendly, which made it a great spot for our outing. Their sashimi selection really stood out great cuts and generous portions. Will definitely be coming back! read more

I was a big fan of the salmon carpaccio and the super sexy bowl. The fish tasted fresh and portions are large so you get your moneys worth. My companion did mention that their bulgogi had more onion than meat which was visibly notable. Definitely aim to visit again and will recommend this spot to others.

**IF YOU MISS YOUR CHECK-IN TIME, LET SOMEONE KNOW BEFORE SIGNING UP ON THE WAITLIST AGAIN** My friend and I have been going here for the past year because we love the quality of the sushi, but it seems like the place went under new management because some stuff has changed. We never ran into issues... until this past weekend. First when we signed up on the waitlist, it wouldn't submit so we pressed the submit button many times, causing our name to appear multiple times. To solve this, we just "cancelled"/exited out but we were still on the list and told the front desk person so they're aware. Our waitlist said to return in about 30 minutes so we went over to Target for a quick shopping run, but then we got the text that our table was ready 15 minutes earlier, so we rushed back, but missed our spot by 1 MINUTE. So we signed up on the waitlist AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME, but here was our mistake: we didn't tell the front desk person, but only because we didn't think there was a point when they would just go off their list anyways. But we got the text that we were on the waitlist again, and that time we just waited in the car until our table was ready 10 minutes later. But then we got another text right away that our name was REMOVED off the waitlist, which was a mistake since we DIDN'T check in yet. But when we tried to check in, they said that we were removed from the waitlist more than 20 minutes ago, which was the 1st time we signed up. I tried to explain that we know we missed our grace period the FIRST time, so we signed up AGAIN for the SECOND time, got the confirmation, got the text our table was ready, but then received another text that we were taken off the waitlist even though we hadn't checked in. The person showed us that we were never on the waitlist, and kept saying we missed our grace period a long time ago. I tried to show her all the texts I received and their timestamps, but we ended up signing up on the waitlist *AGAIN* for the *3RD TIME*. We were already starving at that point waiting a lot longer than we were supposed to. Food was good as usual but it was hard to enjoy it after having issues with the waitlist system. The new tablet system is cool, the sushi came out quick, and also the surplus charge for extra food is apparently gone. But the gratuity charge is automatically added to the check so be careful you don't pay the tip twice. Probably won't be returning any time soon. Maybe in another year when their system has more time to fix their glitches. TLDR; if you miss your check-in time, let someone know before you sign up on the waitlist again. It wasn't the front desk person's fault but it was still frustrating to deal with when we were already hungry. read more

The combination of crispy shrimp and creamy avocado, topped with eel and a sweet sauce, created a wonderful contrast of textures and tastes. It was clear that a lot of care went into its preparation. The Yellowtail Roll was equally impressive. The fish was incredibly fresh, with a buttery texture that practically melted in my mouth. The subtle flavors were beautifully complemented by the hint of wasabi, allowing the quality of the yellowtail to shine. I also tried the Eel Sushi, which was rich and indulgent. Recently had my third visit at Sushi Okoku, I always go for the all-you-can-eat. It is extremely affordable, and they have such a wide variety of options that you're sure to get the most bang for your buck! First and foremost, let's talk about the gyoza. Oh boy, those little parcels of joy were pure perfection! Each bite delivered a burst of flavor that left me craving more. The chicken teriyaki, too, was a delight--succulent and came out piping hot. It truly hit the spot! Now, let's dive into the highlight of my visit--the jalapeno poppers! The combination of heat and creaminess was a match made in flavor heaven. Trust me when I say they are an absolute must-try. Prepare to have your taste buds dancing with joy! Moving on to the rolls, the Las Vegas roll never disappoints. It's become my reliable go-to. However, the Senorita roll left something to be desired. The avocado topping was disappointingly mushy, not quite reaching the level of excellence I had come to expect with Sushi Okoku. But hey, not every roll can be a superstar. While I've had great experiences with the service at Sushi Okoku in the past, this time, things were a bit off. I found myself waiting longer than expected for my first roll, and unfortunately, they missed bringing me two items I had ordered during my second round. It was a minor hiccup, but it did detract from the overall experience. But not enough to keep me from coming! Despite these hiccups, Sushi Okoku remains my go-to spot in Riverside. I went to Sushi Okoku with my family to celebrate my birthday, and it was the worst dining experience I've ever had. From the start, the staff were cold and unfriendly, glaring at us as if we were a bother. The service was beyond unacceptable. They never came to check on us once during our meal. They brought out our appetizer after we finished our main dishes, and when we ordered a beer and 4 cups, they only brought one cup. When we asked for the additional cups, the server made a face and acted annoyed. We had to keep getting up to ask for service because no one bothered to come to our table. Things got even worse when we asked for a bottle after finishing the beer. Suddenly, they decided to card us, even though we'd already been served alcohol. It felt like they were just trying to create unnecessary problems. To top it off, when we went to pay, my mom was understandably upset with the service and told the server she didn't want to pay gratuity. The server rudely claimed it couldn't be removed. My mom asked to speak with a manager, and--shockingly--the manager turned out to be the rudest and b**chiest staff member of all them b**ches. With a terrible attitude, she finally removed the gratuity, but her demeanor was unprofessional and downright hostile. This was hands-down the worst service we've ever received. The staff seemed lazy, unfriendly, and completely uninterested in their jobs. If they don't want to be bothered, they should work as dishwashers. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and will never be coming back. read more

Came on a Sunday around noon. You order on tablets so the servers hardly interact with the table at all, not usually an issue considering the tablets are there to make things easier right? Except for the included gratuity. I go to AYCE often so i know included gratuity is usually they way to go, never minded it before. Waitresses have a poor attitude and are impossible to get a hold of. Had to ask multiple times for a single thing, like a refill or napkins. It was my first time here on a weekend so i had a couple questions regarding our orders bcs they have a different system for Sat & Sun ($40 a person, up charge on sauces, etc. this is not a thing on the weekdays so i just wanted a little clarification) For 2 people AYCE we paid a little over $20 in gratuity after paying $100 bill. Usually not the type to write a bad review but the service was horrible, i spent a majority of my time here waiter for a server who was rude, consistently ignored our table, answered with attitude, and was not worth the $20 tip. read more

Sushi always comes out super fast but I'm sorry, why is there an automatic gratuity for EVERY party size??? First of all, I've been to this establishment multiple times as a party of 2 and never once have the employees or servers given us a disclaimer about the automatic tip. Second, 90% of the service is done through an iPad! Why am I getting auto-grated when I'm ordering my own food on an iPad and only talk to a server once just to put in a glass of water. I've been tipping ON TOP of the gratuity apparently, definitely not deserved for the minimal amount of work that the workers are doing. Never been to a restaurant that does this to parties smaller than 4-6 people. Some transparency from the business and staff would've been appreciated. No longer coming back. read more

Have not been here since it was called OK Sushi. Now, Sushi Okoku, has been remodeled and it looks great. The ambience is very pleasant with soft lighting and pleasant music. The menu is very extensive and there is going to be something for everyone. The all you can eat menu is so huge that it is double sided. There is a no rice section on the AYCE menu with several options, if you want to keep it low carb. The fish is excellent quality on the rolls and on nigiri. Kelly, from Okoku, took very good care of us. My wife is the one who found this place and I am so glad she did. This just became my favorite Sushi spot over the one we have been going to for years. read more

Wow! This place is truly amazing. The quality of the food is extremely fresh to the point where they are frying the shrimp right before it goes in the roll. Allowing you to taste the extra crunch! Currently the have a promotion with the All you can eat M-Th 1$ beer/sake!! Great atmosphere and the owner is very attentive to all of his clients. They have multiple Tv's for events and also great selection of music. Very sleek environment. Also all the menu items are included in the All you can eat!! Will definitely be returning!! PS. Ranted and raved about this place and the selection of rolls, especially the fusion and baked rolls. 2nd time there for lunch on 11/20 and experience was very different. Spicy garlic edamame was way over cooked, mushy and falling apart. Ordered two baked rolls and both were soggy, covered in sauce, not warm, with rice outside falling apart. Worst of all, both the person I was with and myself got terribly sick within 30 minutes of finishing here. Guaranteed to have gotten food poisoning. Won't be coming back to Okoku any time soon read more

I've tried majority of the sushi place here in Riverside and by faro the best is here in Okoku Sushi. Everything tastes fresh, the service is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. My favorito rolls to get are the Ashi roll, wonton popper paradise, spiderman roll, and the teriyaki roll. The space is big so you can always come with a party of like 6 people and not worry about space. I always recommend this place to my friends ds and family. Give it a try and you'll see this place is great. read more
