This is probably one of the worst sushi experience ever!! Got here around 8:15PM to order sushi to go. The order was for a roll combo with rainbow roll, and a sushi and roll combo with crunchy roll. A spider roll, California roll and the asparagus roll. Not a huge order by any means, and the restaurant was relatively empty, 2 tables with 4 customers and a single person at the sushi bar. So you'd expect the order to be ready in 20 - 25 minutes. I go and wait in my car and provide them my number to call once the order is ready. - they call me about 15 minutes after my order and inform me about an $3 extra charge for the crunchy roll, which wasn't listed on their menu, and is basically for a fried California roll! - I go back inside after 30 minutes, and am informed they are working on the order, just need to finish the last couple of items. OK, fine - 45 minutes and I walk in again, still working on the crunchy roll and should be done soon... - 1 hour in, I am getting frustrated and go in, still no response or sense or urgency, I go talk to the server and all she says is that they are still making the rolls. She brings over the manager/owner who doesn't provide an explanation and just asks me to wait - 1 hour 15 minutes and I walk in again, still working on the last 2 items of the order!! They tell me to wait in the car and will drop off the food to me curbside. No words from the manager... - 1 hour 25 minutes later they bring the food to the car, again no mention about the long wait. We drive back to the house which is about 15 minutes away from the restaurant, and walk in the door, when the phone rings. The owner is calling me to inform that they messed up on the order and did not put all the items in the bag that they brought out to our car and 2 items were missing!! WTF?? I am beyond frustrated at this point and simply ask that they refund me the items that are missing. Her response: you will have to come back to the restaurant for me to issue the refund...seriously?? I work in the service industry, new Point of Sale systems will allow you to enter a partial or full refund from the terminal without needing to run the card again! Now to the food: The crunchy roll, the one that took 75 minutes to make wasn't crunchy at all. The sushi was just thrown together without any presentation or effort and their prices are ridiculously high for the quality of their food. This was a complete nightmare experience!! Its location in the strip mall can be decieving, but the menu and quality is top notch. Fresh, relaxed and tasty. We go by probably once a week. Intially we woudl get a couple of rolls, but now we are inclined to sample the menu and take leftovers home. WE have our favorite rolls, Joshua Tree, Vegas and, recently, Citrus roll, but all of the sushi is fresh and high quality. We have had the teryaki, the Yaki Soba noodles, the ramen noodles, the katsu and bento boxes - all were tasty and fresh. Nothing appears to be sitting in the back waiting for customers, so it can take a second or two to arrive. This is a small business, so sometimes the service can lag, but everyone chips in, so you'll get taken care of. Ask for anything and it will be there for you. Like most restaurants, wait times will increase with seasonal visitors, but they have a robust take out business and patio dining (we have always sat inswide because we could. What's sad is that this place has great sushi. I love their creamy salmon roll. Right now,I know, Bc of covid businesses are operating differently and trying to adapt to the change. I respect that and still support the businesses that are trying to adapt, which is why I was still coming here.. But multiple times now (even some before covid) I've been told 30-35 min wait time and that wait time turned into over an hour. If I have to wait longer just be upfront with a realistic wait time, I would be fine with that.. But to say 30 mins.. I wait 30 show up to your restaurant then wait another 40-45 is just inconsiderate and shows poor time management. Like I said this has happened multiple times at this restaurant and the first couple of times I was patient and thought they are doing their best, but now it's becoming repetitive, and not something they care to improve on. Came here for lunch and wanted to the order the lunch special which is listed on the Internet site and their menu. Waitress said Oh no that's not available. Which wasn't true. Needless to say we found the fish to be old and not fresh. However the seaweed salad was good . I spent many years living in Japan and Asia and I can tell you dont waste your time or money. While I was waiting to be acknowledged at their service counter today, I was thinking my usual circle of thoughts about this place and the lady behind me actually said the same exact thing aloud to me. In a relatively recent visit to the desert with a bunch of golfer guys we were craving sushi for dinner and Sushi On was geographically perfect from where we were staying. That said, it has pretty darn good Yelp reviews and we decided to try it out. Let's start with the portion size. Holy moly the nigiri were huge! Seriously, some of the most generous portion sizes I'd ever seen. The quality was also unexpectedly great too! My favorites were the masago (seen in photo), the toro, maguro and baked lobster roll. We also ordered about 10 bottles of junmai sake which was delicious. Great little concise list of sake for a spot in the desert. Our servers were super friendly and the owner came over to say thanks. The worst experience of sushi delivery/service ever. Ordered from Uber to pick up. Uber guy came the server told him they gave our order to somebody else. They will remake it 45 minutes laters , the uber driver was stilling waiting for our sushi. We called the restaurant and after knowing it was our order they messed up. The server put us on hold and never return. Block the call!!! OMG what was that!!? Our uber is still waiting 7:18pm 10/26/20. They shouldnt be in business to handle service that way. So I've been buying sushi from here for years and don't get me wrong they are very delicious, good in size for the price they are, but for this seaweed salad. I got home to find out this much was given to me for the price....not good. I could get this seaweed for cheap at a grocery store for this much. I've been living down the street from this place for years and I've never come down. I've always heard good things so I finally made it in. I'm glad I finally did because now I have a spot near me that I can pop in to when I get cravings. I got the spider roll which was delicious! I also got the dinner combo and chose steamed gyoza and teriyaki chicken. The price of the roll was about $12 and the combo was $18. The rolls were all priced well. The combo was very nice to look at but definitely not what filled me up. I will say I was a bit frustrated when I got here and it took a while to get my order taken. There was a young tall man who took my drink order and thanks to him I didn't leave since I at least had a drink. Would recommend giving it a shot. read more
