Alright, so I love eating here. I've never had a roll I didn't like. The fish is fresh and the rolls are flavorful. However, today my daughters and I had dinner there, and had 3 leftover rolls. So we asked for a box, packed it up, paid and left. About a mile out I realized that we left our boxed food so I called the restaurant as I was going back for it, because there were like 3 rolls leftover. While I was on the phone I was told that they threw it away, when they cleared the table. It hadn't even been 5 minutes since I'd left the restaurant. The guy on the phone said "I think they threw it away," but wasn't sure and didn't bother to ask anyone else. They didn't even wait to see if we'd go back, they knew we wanted to take these rolls that we didn't finish. I think it's rude and I get that they have to clean the table but give people at least 5-10 minutes if they don't comeback then throw it away. That was half our dinner! I'm upset that he didn't even try to help. read more

Pleasantly surprised........We travel to the Coachella Valley often and were still looking for great sushi and bento at mid-day. Have tried several in the Valley but Sushi ON was excellent.....very, very, creative diverse menu, artistic presentation and surprising value for "fish in the desert"!! The service was good , and the food was good, but it came super fast . i guess either there quick w it or it was already made. no ginger or wasabi on the plate when we ordered. the place was small but pretty. for some reason the lights turned off ? but we were leaving anyway so we didnt really pay attention to it . service was quick and nice but the staff kept giving people dirty looks and one of the staff was crying ?? idk bc of food allergies or smth but overall place was aight. Excellent restaurant food is one of the best. I always eat a spicy scalloped hand roll is my favorite. Fish is always so fresh and the help is very nice. I love sitting at the bar, but if no room, I'll sit at a table. The cooks are great very sociable. I recommend this restaurant to everyone if you like sushi or sashimi, go there. Rainy Sunday afternoon UberEats sushi delivery -- just what I needed. 2 rolls, an appetizer and ramen: BAKED LOBSTER ROLL - $14.95 Tasty goodness of avocado, crab, langoustines, etc. covered in a creamy sauce. I could almost feel my cholesterol going up with each bite but it was worth it. I'd do it again! DOUBLE JEOPARDY ROLL - $14.95 Wow! I was surprised how much I liked this one. Avocado, crab, shrimp tempura and cucumber on the inside. Fresh tuna & white fish were on the outside topped with 2 types of topiko. Splash some ponzu sauce on and yummm. MISO RAMEN - $9.50 If you're in need of salt, look no further! A bowl of this soup will replete your sodium level if you've been outside & sweating all day. A bit too salty for my liking so I added some water. The price is a bit high for the bowl's smaller size. Overall, decent soup with sliced pork and fish cake. SHUMAI - $5.95 Not what I was expecting but still good (thought it was going to be in dumpling shape). Came in 8 square, chopped pieces (kind of like fried tofu). Deep fried shrimp and vegetable dumplings served with a soy/vinegar type of dipping sauce. Very tasty! Sorry, I didn't take a picture because I was starving when I opened this up & lacked the will power to restrain myself. Overall, this is a solid sushi joint. I've been to the restaurant once and ordered delivery twice -- each time I try different rolls & they've all been decent size, full of flavor, FRESH fish and presented well. $46 total (a little pricey but not too bad, especially if you were eating in the restaurant) ...... but then UberEats adds all their silly fees and the total bill ended up being $56 (BEFORE a tip). That should prove how much I LIKE their sushi, especially considering I am all about early bird specials & 1/2 off coupons (the desert is rubbing off on me). Outside seating is very small area. The table clothes were not very clean, they were white, not a good color to use for sushi. The food was good, it was fresh. Had the mango tango roll, didn't really like tht one very much. The other ones we had were great. The Philly roll, n spicy tuna. Service was okay. HORRIBLE service...I am at home sick and there is a huge sand storm outside so I decide to order from Sushi ON using GrubHub. I place my order at 6:34pm and expect the delivery between 7:26-7:36pm. I live 5 minutes down the street from them. I then see the first driver has arrived at 7:20 for the order and waits till almost 7:50pm for the order to be ready. She finally cancels and the order goes to another driver who gets there and is told it will be 20-30 minutes. I then call him and tell him I'm canceling the order, I apologize to him and I then proceed to make my way down to the restaurant. I'm pissed at this point. As I arrive at 8:10 the restaurant is half empty and it looks like there are several people waiting on to-go orders. I begin complaining to the manager about the situation. I had ordered 1 roll (double threat roll) and an overpriced seaweed salad (literally the size of your palm). She tells me it's ready. The time stamp on the bag says it was ready at or completed at 6:56pm. So either Sushi ON is lying to the customer and GrubHub or can't get their shit together enough to be organized and provide the correct orders to the drivers as they come in. Stupid people!!!! Put up a book shelf by the front that holds all the to ho orders for GrubHub, UberEats, etc...since the workers there apparently can't read. Both my GrubHub divers were awesome, they waited, communicated with me and it was not their fault. This shit hole has no business working with delivery companies when they can't keep their orders straight. Continue supporting GrubHub but beware of SushiON...their light is apparently OFF!!!!! FYI: since I had to cancel my order through GrubHub I paid in person for the roll and salad. Never going back. Go to Joes instead on Country Club and Washington. read more

I believe this restaurant to be truly 5 stars, but I will have to come back when they are fully prepared to handle their customers. Luckily this was our second time visiting and the waitress was gracious enough to say that several people have been waiting a while to their food and because there are two new sushi chefs in training. That's saved us from waiting too long for food. One of my favorite Sushi places in Indio! The waiters and hostess' are always so kind and attentive and even remember me whenever I go! I love the Bam Bam and Shooting Star premium rolls so much that it's hard for me to branch out and try others! And the Bento Box is super yummy with the Spicy chicken and Spicy Tuna Roll options. The Tempura is a great choice too. Definitely give Sushi On a try! read more

I love this place. But today I placed an order online and picked up my food and was told everything was in there. I got home which is about 15 minutes away to find out I was given the complete wrong order. I called and spoke with the manager and asked for a refund as the food in the bad had octopus which is something I don't eat. Her response was it's not octopus but bring it back and I'll give your order I stated I wanted a refund due to the fact that I am not driving back again which she once said just come back I have your food. Therefore I drove back to get what I paid for and wasted 1 hour of driving and gas cause of there mistake.and eat sushi that was sitting for about a hour. read more

The Hoe-Deopbap had cold crispy fresh vegetables and a serving of assorted fish enough to feed two. I was delighted they had Ankimo and a large choice for sushi and rolls. The portions were above par. Seating has booths for 2 and 4 and tables for larger groups. Loved the friendly wait staff and pleasant atmosphere. Sushi is actually a pretty good meal to have in a hot place like Indio. Although there's air conditioning which cancels that out for the most part. We ordered the boat which was pretty good deal and the sushi tasted pretty fresh. The service was outstanding and very nice. The ginger salad that comes along some entrees is very typical for many sushi restaurants. Mine was a bit bitter and gets tiring very quickly. We are visiting from Orange County. The sushi was good. My husband ordered a $20 teriyaki steak - it literally was once ounce of very thin sliced steak (see picture) .. I ordered extra Shrimp Tempura - again, VERY small shrimp and super cold when it arrived (the oven did the trick however). My Sushi roll was good, and a nice size. This was my first time going to Sushi On. I didn't know what to expect. I'm not a fan of raw fish, so I ordered the Ben to Box. In mine was teriyaki chicken with California roll. The California roll was pretty good. No raw fish. Just cooked crab, nori, sushi rice, avocado and cucumber. Very delectable. I also had the firm tofu benito soup. It was excellent! I'd go back for that alone. The restaurant was very crowded. Our visit was just after we had a retrieve between mask mandates. Be advised, there is await to be seated. Stay calm. I will admit that I am a bit of a 'sushi snob' but this place had me terribly disappointed with the food. After reading the reviews, it seemed that all the bad reviews were about service issues and nothing about the food. Caring more about the food than service, I was excited to find a new sushi spot. If you look closely at the photo, the ahi is not fresh at all. Ahi becomes darker as it sits there. This incredibly dark and tasted VERY fishy. I thought I was going to be sick. Salmon is my absolute favorite and I could not even stomach the salmon sushi. (Note, the Salmon sashimi was fine). I thought I was going to be sick after eating here. I told my server who fully agreed with me that it didn't look appetizing. She told her sushi chef who argued with her and yelled at her telling her that that is how it is supposed to be. Maybe his standards are rock bottom or he just needed to sell the turning fish. The service was good except for a couple of issues. I was charged for a beer that I didnt order and it took about 10 minutes to correct the issue. Other than that, the service was very good. Overall however, I had a terrible experience. read more

When you're feeling lazy AF and far from home, but you're craving chicken katsu and gyoza... You order delivery after doing your Yelp research. Cross your fingers and hope it's delicious, satisfying and worth the outlay. My delivery was super fast through Grub Hub (10 min early!) and my chicken katsu arrived piping hot. It was absolutely delicious. I would order this all the time. So, why the 1-star? Well that's related to my gyoza and shumai. Both were not only not cooked, they were actually cold. So cold, they had clearly just been taken out of the refrigerator! Yet, the katsu was hot... weird, right? Now I normally order delivery through DoorDash but I used Grubhub. Unfortunately as great as their delivery guy was, their refund policy for bad good isn't up to same level of standards. So lucky me got to throw out 2/3 orders and pay full price. Not even a discount on my current order but instead some crappy offer to order again later?!? So you're fucking me over and you want me to let you try again?!? But the issue isn't Grubhub but their partnership agreements with this particular restaurant. If I had a restaurant and a customer complained that their steamed dumpling was ice cold in the middle and uncooked (there's zero way this dumpling was steamed), I'd give them a refund. But not this place. 4 stars for the katsu. 0 stars for goyza -5 for customer service Bummer 'cause that katsu was really good. read more

This place is great! Usually pretty busy but they get you seated quickly. The food is delicious, the sushi is fresh and the menu is creative. We've tried sushi, sashimi, no rice rolls, tempura, bento box, stone bowl and ramen. the citrus roll and albacore sashimi are soooo good!The ponzu is definitely made there and not from a bottle and I always judge a sushi restaurant by whether they use yuzu and these guys do! So first of all, I had intended to go to Sushi Kitto. I learned when getting an Uber to that name that this restaurant used to go by that name, so I was at the wrong place. I decided to go in since I was already there - it was nearly 9, and they closed at 9:30. I was told I was unable to sit at the sushi bar as they were already cleaning up. Hmmm. Ok so I sat at a table (was also told it couldn't be on the side of the sushi bar or near it (why?) I ordered a couple of super basic things - carpaccio and nigiri. It's located on Jefferson in between Indio and la Quinta, convenient location if you live in Bermuda dunes. Dude. Seriously this place was epic. We were travelling through and needed something healthy and yummy to munch upon (we are on some godforsaken diet. Ugh.) This placed popped up on yelp and we gave it a go. We ordered, and I walked by the sushi counter and said 'HI' to the chefs. They grunted back without even looking up, which at the time I thought was a little off-putting. But now I realize they were just hard at work creating fish-filled masterpieces. We got three of their 'protein' rolls (no rice, lots of fish) and these things were insane. Like, super SUPER good. We totally wrecked them all in record time, licked our fingers clean and even suckled remnants from my shirt (I spilled some of the sauce on the belly-area). The sushi is good. Well done and delicious. But the service... the service is what will never bring me back. Waited for more than 15 mins for drinks, for them to only come AFTER the food. The sushi was good, but we saw the server 2 times. Once when she took our order, and the other when she delivered our drinks. No one Checked our table throughout dinner. After, when we had had enough, i stood up, when directly to waitress (as manager stood next to her) I then took it upon myself to request the check and a to go box... only to get an attitude and still nothing. Horrible place. I highly recommend NOT coming her. Ps- we are from out of town, on vacation. What a waste!! read more
