Not my favorite omakase in the city for the price, but I appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant and how it was super unrushed. None of the pieces really blew me away other than the uni and the scallop. All the pieces were also very well paced. the quality of the fish was really good though, I was just not blown out of the water.

Wonderful service, great atmosphere. Came here for a good time and left with a great time. Would love to return again.

Hard to overstate how amazing our experience at Sushi Ouji was. Just as good as anything we had in Japan. When we arrived, it definitely felt like we were transported there. Some highlights were the otoro, the uni, and the salmon roe bowl, but there were zero misses. It was expensive, but not outrageous compared to other New York omakase experiences. Recommended with no hesitation!!

Tucked away in the basement level at 196 Prince Street in SoHo, Sushi Ouji proves that the best culinary experiences often come from the most unassuming locations. This intimate Japanese restaurant delivers an omakase experience that rivals spots costing twice the price, creating an evening that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. The nigiri at Sushi Ouji represents some of the finest bites I've experienced in New York City. Each piece is cut to order directly in front of you, ensuring maximum freshness and showcasing Chef Ben's knife skills. The fish quality is outstanding--sourced primarily from Japanese markets--and the light sauce glaze applied to each piece enhances rather than masks the natural flavors. The sushi rice, specially selected from Hokkaido, provides the perfect foundation with its fluffy texture and balanced taste. Each dish feels purposeful and carefully considered, from the opening appetizers through the beautifully executed nigiri progression. The service at Sushi Ouji is genuinely over-the-top in the best possible way. Every staff member radiates genuine friendliness and passion for the restaurant. The attention to detail is remarkable--from the warm welcome to the final farewell, you feel genuinely cared for rather than simply served. This level of hospitality elevates the entire experience. Sushi Ouji represents everything great about New York's dining scene: exceptional quality, passionate ownership, and an experience that feels both authentic and uniquely personal. Chef Ben has created something truly special in SoHo--a place where technical excellence meets genuine hospitality, delivering consistently outstanding omakase that keeps you planning your return visit before you've even left.

Delicious omakase! My gfs and I loved every piece. We got a surprise dessert of heart shaped macarons and thought they were the cutest ever. My favorite course was the salmon topped with uni, roe and caviar.

This place does not disappoint. Excellent omakase at $150 per person. Very reasonable for NYC. Small restaurant that seats about 25 people with 3 sittings a night beginning at 5:00, 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Must have a reservation through Open Table or Resy. Service is excellent. Staff is very attentive.

I'm not sure why the reviews say this is a reasonably priced omakase but maybe that was before they raised the price to $149 (as of Nov 2025). For that price, you get 3 starters, miso soup, 8 pieces of sushi and a dessert. The quality was very good but not outstanding. The best thing was the miso soup which has a seafood broth mixed in (delicious!). Overall a decent meal but felt too expensive for what you get. Definitely a one and done.

I came with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary, this was our first omakase experience together. We enjoyed the experience, it was very intimate and I'm happy we chose to sit at the counter. We did the 14 course omakase, everything that we ate was absolutely delicious and you can tell that it was high quality and fresh. We got a bottle of the yuzu soju and it was so good, but very strong. I was definitely feeling it after just two glasses. I think some of my favorites were the otoro, uni and salmon roe, tiger shrimp, and scallop. After the 14 courses were complete they asked us if we would like to order anything else that we've tried, surprisingly we were both very full. We really enjoyed the service as well, at the end they brought out some desserts for us and wished us a happy anniversary. We would love to come back again!

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Some of the best sushi that I've ever tasted. Service was incredible, everything was very organized and executed well. The restaurant is pretty small but it makes for a nice intimate dining experience. Would recommend.

Sushi Ouji is an elegant and deliciously fresh omakase restaurant in West Soho. Quality of fish -which is sourced from Japan- and service are top notch and for the price of the omakase ($124 for 14 courses) it is a a place not to miss if looking for high quality omakase and reasonable price. The service was also amazing, very attentive and super nice. Would come back.

This place is exceptional! Very clean, chefs that explain every bite and able to understand them without issues. It is a bit on the e pricier side and they charge $40 if you want to bring your own alcohol, but I would recommend trying them at least once. It's a 13 course omakase meal for ~130/person. The dishes were presented very nicely. Would come back!

This place is AMAZING. We had an above and beyond dinner here last night. All of the fish was delicious and excellently prepared by our sushi chef Ben. Besides the divine fish, the other dishes - chawamushi and soup - were also so so good. Everything was just prepared so excellently. We also loved the ambiance and vibe of Sushi Ouji. What a neighborhood gem. The manager Kevin and the staff here were also terrific. Everyone was so courteous and attentive. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place for everyone who appreciates a delicious sushi dinner. If you don't eat sushi, this place will make you a fan.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable.
