Ok, so here is the deal, although I love my sushi, I am also super picky about where I eat it. I don't eat at places super far inland because, I mean, FISH, but this place always has the freshest catch. I have traveled all over the country and I have eaten at far too many sushi places to count and this is by far my favorite. Everything is so incredibly fresh and flavorful and made with love, which sometimes make for a longer wait time but so worth it. SO WORTH IT. I will say however, that we have eaten Sushi Plus quite a few times and it never fails ti impress both in flavor and presentation. Don't get discouraged by the time it takes to prepare. Love this place. My friends and sister love this place so I'm in here almost every time I come home for school break. I don't really eat sushi so I usually just let them eat and enjoy their company. They love it though! The family is Korean and Ben (the chef) always tries to get me to try their bulgogi since I'm just sitting there not eating LOL. One day, I will. Service is slow because it's just Ben making the rolls so it's no big deal. He and his mom are both super kind and Ben is hilarious so I love going in. read more

I heard a lot about this place so I went in there to try it during lunch time. Well that was bad timing the waitress made me wait 10 minutes before she even took my order then I waited another 20 minutes before I had to leave because I had to get back to work. I hate to give this place a bad review because the family is so sweet but the service was just terrible. We walked in and nobody said anything to us for a good 5 minutes. The place is really small so seating was very limited. Once we found a spot, we ordered drinks. Tried to order beer/wine, but they said we'd have to go next door to the liquor store to get some as they did not serve any alcohol. That's fine, we just got water. Ordered a noodle dish for my 6 yr old and a hand roll and a steak/rice dish. Got the the steak dish and hand roll. My daughters food didn't show up until we were already finished eating! Very disappointing. Food was mediocre at best. Too bad. read more

We sort of stumbled into this hole in the wall place on the way back from a Las Vegas trip. What a pleasant surprise! Since we did not know what was good, we left the decision to the friendly lady -maybe the owner- to decide for us. We had five different rolls and every one of them was just delicious. It took quite some time to get our order on our table, but we could actually see the young chef really put his effort in creating each roll with care. I especially like the garlic crunch roll. All the fish pieces in the roll were fresh and just the right texture & temp. Only after dinner we discovered that this restaurant sits right on the lake shore - we had a pleasant stroll in the clean and refreshing breeze. Overall, a very good ending to our short weekend trip. UPDATE: SUSHI PLUS DELETED MY REVIEW My family and I come to, Sushi Plus, when we visit our close friends in Silver Lakes. We've always enjoyed the family who runs and operates it, until now. This is so unfortunate to write but I have to. I placed in order to go and the woman explained it would be an hour wait. I wasn't too thrilled about that but since we were having a great time with friends I figured the time would fly by. So, I get there and there's already 3 to-go orders in front of me and 3 tables of customers waiting for their meals, some still waiting for their water. "Take a seat", a fellow customer told me, "You're going to be here for awhile". 2 HOURS LATER, we got our to-go order. Sushi Plus, please have the decency to meet with customer demands. If you haven't noticed, we're in the middle of summer and plates of hot food are not a popular choice but sushi is because it's light and fresh. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to foresee that you're volume of customers are going to be higher during the warmer months. In order to respect a customers time, hire an extra set of hands. A second person who helps in making the food and a second person for waiting on tables. Unfortunately, my group and I will not be coming back until we see some assertive action taken on your part. Until then, you've just lost seven customers. read more

I'm only giving this place one star because I think it sincerely needs to be knocked down from the high rating it has. We only came here because we were visiting some friends out of town and wanted to go somewhere nice so we looked up a high rating on yelp and chose Sushi Plus. This is a hole in the wall experience with a view that leaves much to be desired, especially for being right next to the lake! Ambience is not their forte. Though the atmosphere of the place was not impressive, some of my favorite restaurants are hole-in-the-walls, so I kept my hopes up. with that being said we waited almost two hours for mediocre sushi. The waitress didn't even greet us for about 10 minutes, and we waited another 15 minutes just for our waters. This place is small there is absolutely no reason it should take that long to get greeted or get 4 waters, (I'm a server myself so I wouldn't say this without precedent). Even that though is totally forgivable, however, after waiting almost half an hour to get waters and place our order in this tiny restaurant it took an absurd amount of time to get our food. After 45 minutes and seeing that the table next to us was already eating even though they came in much later than us I assumed we had been forgotten. (Our server had disappeared for quite some time at this point and was nowhere in sight, not to mention we had to write down the order ourselves because the server didn't even take the order or answer any questions, she simply handed us a notepad and a menu, then scooped it up after we wrote it down put it in her pocket and then forgot to give it to the chef for at least 30-45 minutes.) We had undoubtedly been forgotten and when I approached the sushi chef, Ben, to see what was going on I looked at the lineup of tickets and saw our ticket at the back of the lineup. After expressing our dissatisfaction with how long it was taking it still took an additional 30 minutes to get our sushi. They didn't even attempt to rush our order after we had been forgotten, they kept us at the back of the lineup and we were the last to be served in the entire restaurant. We told them to pack it up to go because our patience had been completely and thoroughly exhausted. Aside from the service and efficiency, which was absolutely atrocious, they were nonetheless polite and apologetic. I'd give the food itself 3 stars. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either, simply mediocre. I've had far better sushi. I still tipped 8$ on a 30$ tab and that was only because they did give sincere condolences as well as some free edamame and assured us that the next experience would be better, however, there will absolutely never be a next time, and there shouldn't be a first time for anyone who is reading this looking for a good sushi place in the area. I literally felt humiliated after suggesting to my friends we should go here. It caused a lot of dissonance in our collective experience of the day. So because of that my 1 star still stands. It's insane to me that this place is 4+ stars! Clearly the people in this area don't know what good sushi or decent service is actually like. I feel like yelp tricked me. Their staff needs some serious training in serving etiquette and efficiency. I'd run circles around them all day. If you want mediocre sushi that takes almost 2 hours to make with a less than humble atmosphere, awful service and an awkward experience then this is the place for you :). Edit: so I did receive an apology from Ben the chef so I'm temporarily raising it to two stars just for that, I'll be coming back to this place in the next 2-3 weeks to give it another sincere and fair review. I never like giving 1 star, but I honestly have never waited that long for food in my life. Perhaps the hangriness influenced my writing a bit. I have been here several times I love the food and customer service they have to offer. Although their food is always delicious I always find myself waiting there longer than I have to. I recently only ordered two rolls and it took them about an hour and a half to make and they were not busy at all. Also I ask for trainer chopsticks for my son and we were told there was no time to make them. I'm giving a high amount of stars due to the welcoming atmosphere and great food, but the only thing that kills the experience for me ever time is the long unnecessary wait. read more
