This place is delicious! Their bento boxes have a ton of flavor and many options, which give a good sample of the quality of their food. I highly recomend the shrimp bento - grilled on a skewer. The California roll, gyoza, and spring roll are also very good. We've also had the chicken and beef bento, which have been good as well. Another nice find. Don't let the austere exterior turn you away. You won't find anything too unique on the menu but this is the best version of this type of food I have found in these parts. Kind of post-modern teriyaki, I guess. It would be nice to see at least a small portion of the Vancouver Renaissance touch on this part of town. There are some cool little specialty stores around here but not really anything that draws the eye or stops the car. Hopefully that will change over time. Anyhow, I had the pick 2 with beef and shrimp. Everything was well prepared, the portions were generous and it came with rice and salad. My wife had Tofu teriyaki and the panko-crusted tofu was great. Even I liked it a lot and I have more bad tofu/styrofoam jokes than you can shake a stick at. So maybe next time some of you are cruising down Grand to go to one of the chain places by Fred's you can try this place instead. read more

My husband and I stopped in for a teriyaki chicken bento, and he had the generals chicken. Both were absolutely delicious! The bento portions were massive, and the chicken had a great char to it. The generals chicken was out of this world! Super crispy, with a spicy garlicky flavor. The best part however, was how warm and friendly the staff were. They really made us feel at home. Seven of us decided to try dinner here last night. We all live in the neighborhood. We knew this restaurant was here, not much to look at from the outside, and stark but clean inside. But the food! We all had different entrees and we all raved at how appealing the presentation was, how perfectly everything was prepared and how delicious everything tasted. Friendly service, generous portions, and inexpensive too. So glad to support this deserving local business. We were all delightfully surprised and I'm sure we all will be back for more. read more

I should have taken a picture, but I finally ordered their Kalbi (Korean short ribs) and I've been burnt by a few places in the area but this is the legit place to go. Great potions, absolutely delicious. I usually order their tonkatsu, which i also did today because (a few other places had bad kalbi and I always have a backup), but I think this will be my staple from now on. Set on a bed of rice and a side salad if only I had some kimchi. Do your stomach a favor and get down there and try it. There are bones but get that meat from around it. Excellent, locally owned option. Bento is delicious, California roll is a great lunch snack and the pork sandwich makes my husband happy.

First, the pluses: very nice service and, while stark aesthetic, seemed very clean. We ordered 2 plates of "Pick 2," one with chicken and shrimp and another with chicken and beef and a small order of tempura. The chicken was very tasty and tender. The shrimp, while good, was difficult to remove from the skewer. The beef tasted like it was reheated and overly sauced. Next time, I'd skip the beef. Tempura was great. What would make it better for me is to have a fuller menu. The menu listed on their website has a lot more food choices than are available at the restaurant. read more

I love this place so much, their food is absolutely delicious, flavorful and very filling, I especially love the sesame dressing they give to you with your salad. I usually get the Bento, it's a really good variety of food - comes with sushi, gyoza, rice (it's blueberry, which i find really interesting !) salad, spring rolls and I believe tempura shrimp. You also get the options of getting chicken, beef or shrimp, which is a great choice for a person like me that usually wants to try everything. The service is also always friendly and sociable, and the place inside is cozy and cute. read more

I'm a student at the Culinary Institute right across the street, and this is my favorite place nearby to grab some food during our dinner break. Everything that comes out of that kitchen is phenomenal. Oyako has the best teriyaki and yakisoba I have ever had, hands down! We tried Oyako for the first time during this Covid-19 pandemic, and ordered our food for takeout. The customer service of the employee who took our order was great! He was very friendly, double checked our order before hanging up, and the food was ready in 10 minutes. The food itself was also very good. I ordered a chicken bento box. The only thing that was "meh" was the California roll, but you can't expect much from something so plain. My husband ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki and he inhaled his food. My husband and I ordered the bento box with beef, and the "Japanese style popcorn chicken" (I can't remember the name). We ended up with a ton of food, and we loved all of it. The sides that came in the bento box were all great, and included goyza and California roll. We definitely will be coming back, and can't wait to try the Katsu burger! read more

This place had great food and the customer service always exceptional. We always get the shrimp bento box. It comes with a lot to eat and it all tastes great. Shrimp are grilled and have great flavor, you also get a delicious California roll. The salad dressing is great on all the food and you get 4 pot stickers and a spring roll. We live a good 20 minute drive away, but find a way to go at least once a week. I highly recommend trying it to go and eating at the waterfront. read more
