Chef's choice today included sweet tamago, big eye tuna, yellowtail, and salmon; crudites included asparagus, pickled daikon, watercress, salmon roe, pickled ginger, and wasabi. I enjoyed everything except the rice. Although rice is not anything anyone writes home about, I thought it was a missed opportunity to add depth of flavor to the dish. Shrimp Tempura: Soft shrimp and crispy panko tempura accompanied by a lightly seasoned (ponzu?) sauce. We were gifted these from the owner as a token to our relatives who are regulars. I really wanted to like this place but I don't. Rude servers(if you can find them) and no matter the party size, they automatically add a 20% tip to the bill. I will dictate how much I tip, not a business owner who prob doesn't pay enough and uses that as a way to compensate wages amongst the whole staff. My girl friend and I went here for the first time last night and was extremely discriminated against by the staff of Asian decent. We were there a while quietly enjoying our food. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 sushi rolls, Sake and a bowl. So clearly we have no issue paying our tab. We asked our waitress to clarify an item and she didn't. She was extremely rude and disrespectful. Whenever we got the item it was wrong. We did not like the item at all but the waitress said there was a no return policy. We asked if we could exchange it and she yelled at us. I then asked to speak to a manager and she tried to hand me a random cell phone. I asked her if I could speak to one in person. She then walked away and called. I walked outside, my girlfriend was still sitting at our spots at the bar and when I come back in the owner is literally screaming at my girlfriend calling her an "it" and telling her she will call the policy on her. The waitress lied to the owner, telling her we said we were not going to pay our bill even though we waited in the restaurant for over 15 minutes after we finished eating for the owner/manager. The owner called the police, after calling us both derogatory racial and homophobic slurs and then tried to calm down and act innocent once the police arrived. Horrible staff and horribly ran establishment. I would also like to add the bathrooms are disgusting with dead cockroaches everywhere. The rice was bland and our appetizers were heavily burned. Also the Sake was expired, fish was chewy and it took forever to get our food. The owner also refused to bring me and itemized receipt and charged us over $100 and I was not able to see our full bill. Mid food, horrible customer service. And before the owner responds, no I am not interested in wasting my time looking at CCTV footage. That time it takes to make a snarky response to a bad review should be used to show your employees proper customer service. Located in Old Webster, the Sushi Station is a great local spot! The sushi is always fresh and tasty. While I've dined in on occasion, I tend to do take out more than not. They also offer an app you can use to order. My favorite rolls at Sushi Station are the St. Louis and Old Webster. the Crazy Salmon and Crunchy Spicy Tuna are also worth a try. They also have good calamari. The breading and frying are "just right" so you don't have that ugh heavy feeling when you're done. If you do dine in, be sure to check out the patio in the back. We had our name down over an hour and a half ago. We were told it would be a 45 minute to an hour wait. I called twice and asked about our table after over an hour and a half past. I wanted to give this place a try and wanted to see if I can have a new sushi spot thats closer to my home than Wasabi. But I think for 17 bucks this sushi is a rip off. I put my sprite cap next to the Spicy Shrimp Tempura for size comparison and I got 8 tiny rolls (16 total with California Roll) with the littlest shrimp. The rice was kinda hard as well for my liking but it was soft enough to eat. The California Roll wasn't anything special as well. I'd recommend Wasabi 100% or even Yummi Tummi.
