I've been coming to this wasabi for many years and it's always been very good. They have a nice variety of dishes and drinks. They have several seating areas which include the bar area that has booths an outdoor area and the regular restaurant dining area. Our service is always prompt and they're pretty fast at getting food out. My most recent visit I had their teriyaki salmon which included asparagus rice, and either miso soup or a salad. You can upgrade to fried rice if that's your thing. My husband always orders their sushi. His favorite is the shrimp, tempura sushi. read more

My sister and I visited Wasabi in Kirkwood on Sunday and informed the staff that we both have celiac disease. They assured us they could accommodate us safely. Wasabi you lost me as a customer today after my visit. I don't know when I will ever be able to eat salmon again after what I was served today with the lunch combo. I ordered the wasabi special and spicy salmon roll. After 1 bite of the salmon roll I was disgusted, it was incredibly fishy and after looking at the salmon in the roll it was dull and slimy. Great batter crispy fired with some excellent dipping sauces. Wasabi offers reliable, quality sushi in the STL region and this location is always clean with friendly service. Occasionally I have trouble getting seated because there isnt a dedicated host at lunch and the servers are normally running around crazy taking care of the tables. Firstly, we ordered a takeout order an hour ahead of time and it said the food would be ready at 6:45. We get to the restaurant and ask for our food and all they could tell us was "I don't know how much longer this will be, but the order is back there". We were also told "there is 6 people back there, 5 are making the rolls and only one person is plating the food/takeout orders". There were at least ten, if not 20, waiting for their food along with us. Many of us waited at least 30 minutes past the time it said it would be ready, and some people waited an hour after. This is ridiculous. The lack of communication and knowledge of when people's orders will be done is ridiculous. If you say the food will be ready at a certain time, make sure it's ready by that time or adjust your waiting times. If I had known the wait would be this long, I would have ordered hours in advance (which is ridiculous) or I would have never ordered at all. Many people tried canceling their orders yet couldn't because they were already back there and "plated" but the ONE person had not gotten to their roll yet to pack it. Am I the only one thinking why do you have 5 people making rolls and only 1 person packaging and plating orders??? It sounds more logical to split it and have at least 2 people plating and packaging in order to keep everything done on time. At this rate, it would have been better and faster for me to just sit down in the restaurant and order the food there. It would've been faster that way. On top of that the staff were not helpful at all in regard to telling me when the food would be ready, and there was nothing done in return for this lack of service. Never coming back. read more

The management should not offer the $7 rolls on the to-go orders(so many people waiting up front for their orders) if they can't handle the orders for the people seated inside the restaurant first. Many other tables were waiting just as long as ours and many people were not happy. Sushi was good but the overall experience could have been much better. We ordered 4 different rolls (spicy tuna, crazy, and 2 others with shrimp and crab), all were on the smaller side compared to other non-chain sushi restaurants I've been to in the area. As far as taste went, also not better than others. I ordered a pinot grigio prior to our dinner and sipped on it throughout our meal. By the time we were halfway, I ordered another which didn't come until well after our sushi rolls were eaten. Needless to say, the service isn't the best nor the fastest. We weren't asked if we wanted desserts, our waitress came back one more time to bring my drink and the check. That's all she wrote. Overall, it's average. This location of wasabi isn't great. I avery time I go here they tell me an inaccurate wait time, and I end up standing in the restaurant for 30 minutes. Tonight they told me 25-30 and in ended up being close to an hour. I understand if you're busy, but just be honest about how long it's going to be because I'd rather wait at home than the restaurant. Additionally, they almost always mess up something about my order. Whether it's the kind of rice (been given white several times after paying for brown), forgetting entire rolls, or tonight they forgot half of the fish in my poke bowl (I ordered 2 kinds) they can't seem to get it right. I wish I knew of another decent pickup sushi place in the area that I could go to instead of here, but until then will continue to deal with their service and incorrect orders out of convenience. read more
