Delicious sushi for a very low price. We ordered 3 rolls, a gyoza, and a teriyaki chicken rice bowl and it was only $45. We've been there twice and it's definitely turning into our go-to for sushi. Authentic mom and pop gem!! Don't judge it by its sign on the building, or its name. Adorable inside. A diverse but focused menu of sushi, katsu, combo plates, udon & curry. Yes the portions are going to be (authentically) smaller than sushi places that cater to a lot of Americans, but the prices are definitely reasonable for the portions. A solid, fast food style Japanese place with a great price point! This place is very casual and feels more like a fast food place than a proper restaurant. However, the food was good and the price was even better! I got a bowl of tempura udon and a crunch roll for only $13 with tax. The udon was pretty good and it came with both seaweed and bonito shavings in it with the tempura served on the side, which was nice because it kept the tempura from becoming soggy. The crunch roll was about the length of one shrimp tempura and was solid. Overall, it's not like this place has the best Japanese food ever but it tastes good and the price is so fair that I'd go back for a casual lunch. read more

Pretty standard but good nonetheless! The baked salmon roll was definitely my favorite. There are better sushi places in OC, but those could get pretty expensive. So I would definitely recommend this place to ppl who are looking for a quick, yummy sushi fix, want to support small local shops, and don't want to spend $40+ on 3 rolls at more expensive places. What a steal! My husband got the poke bowl and he said it was pretty good. But the lunch special is where it's at!!! We ordered at the counter from the owner. This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. I call it my little "sushi secret" place. It's a family owned business located between Gamestop and Yogurtland off of Harbor and Baker. The inside is quite small as I think the majority of their business is take out, but I eat in all the time. The inside is decorated in simple Japanese style decor, it's clean and it doesn't smell fishy! You start off by ordering at the counter. The menu and prices are listed above the counter and there's specials listed off to the side. The prices are very reasonable especially for standard cut rolls like spicy tuna and California rolls. They also have a nice selection of specialty rolls. We love the tuna special roll but it's a little bit more expensive than the standard rolls, however I've paid more for rolls similar to this at other fancy sushi restaurants. The tuna special has no rice and tastes fabulous! We also really like the tiger roll as well. If you are looking for great take out sushi or if you have just have 2-4 people in your party, I would definitely try this place. Don't be fooled by the small simple interior, the sushi here is fresh and affordable. I would choose this place over any fancy sit down sushi restaurant every time! read more

One Star. I rarely give negative reviews. Most restaurants will have a bad day so before I do a negative review I really have to have had a pretty horrible experience. Let's face it, people invest their life savings into opening a restaurant so I try to respect that. Teri Sushi was so bad that it makes me almost not want to ever eat sushi again. The cuts looked like they were done by a six year old in a kindergarten class. The quality of fish was questionable at best and the rolls were pure slop. How this place gets 4 stars is a mystery that is unsolvable. All I can say is maybe these people don't have a well developed palate or don't know what good sushi is supposed to be. I picked their slop up to take to a friend in the hospital who hadn't had sushi in months and I was downright embarrassed to serve this crap to him. If you like sushi, go some place other than here. But the roll, every piece kept just falling apart, so I mention that to the lady and she brings me a spoon. Not the response I was expecting. So needless to say, one and done. No atmosphere at all. Have been coming here for years--run by a local husband-wife team from Japan whom enjoy surfing Trestles as much as making great quality/low priced food. My longtime favorites: A. Chicken teriyaki and tempura combo (includes shrimp and veggies) (served with plenty of rice, green salad and edamame). B. Tuna maguro sashimi (usually we order 2 of the 5-piece)--very fresh and tasty. C. Creamy chicken sesame dish (also served with rice, salad, and edamame). This dish has a white cream sauce with grilled onions and sliced green beans mixed with grilled chicken, and topped with green onion. A great and unique dish! By the time we order in Newport, we can drive and pick it up 20 mins later. Always reliable, great food at even better prices. read more

It occupies a single unit in the busy Target Center on Harbor Bl and Baker St in Costa Mesa. Seating area is very limited with a self-serve Coke Fountain Machine and a Unisexual bathroom as the main features. Had the Spider Roll a few times, it's $6.50 and of good quality. Stay away from their Chicken Udon. Despite an under $5 price, there is no quality at all. They use bits of low grade chicken. Beef Udon is fine. Value-wise, it's hit and miss. They have some combos pairing up sushi, sushi rolls, tempura and teriyaki items, that offer some value. If you go a la Carte and order 1 Beef Udon and one Spider Roll, you are at $13 already for "fast casual" Japanese food. However, if you just have a craving for a single sushi roll and nothing else, then this is the place. Their rolls are reasonable in price and quality. read more

This is a really great sushi place. I am a big fan of small, family owned food places and this restaurant seems like one that meets my expectations. I ordered the Salmon and Red Dragon Roll and was satisfied with the overall taste. The portions were somewhat small for me but pretty decent to a normal person and very cheap for the price. I want to point out that the bathroom was very clean, which made this dining experience that much better and it's location very convenient.
