Three of us tried this sushi restaurant again and were once again disappointed. We only got one roll this time because of the experience last time and once again it was unfinished. We can't explain what is missing but .... The two appetizers were the best part of the meal. I had a shrimp dish that was just ok. The shrimp tasted "off" and the sauce lacked flavor. It came with a salad and Ginger dressing that was not as good as other places. One of us had chicken teriyaki and we were shocked when it was served. Not hot, barely warm with a mystery sauce. Went to Sushi Thai today this afternoon. I ordered and paid for a Dinner-sized entree, but was given a lunch sized order instead. I contacted the Manager, and she was insistent that I was given the larger portion (despite the fact that I provided photos showing the smaller portion). There were 4 shrimp, and the container was only 2/3 full. Pad Thai is my favorite menu item, and I have ordered it many times for dinner from this restaurant. I know the size of the dinner portion as I've ordered it numerous times, and I did not receive that quantity of food. The Manager seemed annoyed that I had this issue, but gave me a $3 credit. The restaurant walls are nicely decorated with traditional art, and there is ample seating available. Although it was busy, the waiters were very friendly and attentive. I tried their nigiri for the first time and it was delicious!! The fish was fresh and flavorful, and the portion was pretty generous. We have been visiting Sushi Thai since they opened (4 times a year for 10+ or more years) and have really enjoyed the food and service. Quality of the food has been a miss for us on very rare occasions, but always bounced back on the following visit. For the price, the food is right-sized. I see that other reviewers feel that there is not enough food, but we always leave feeling very full - and sometimes take a few leftovers. We prefer their Thai food over the Japanese menu. My only recommendations for them: remove the artificial pink flowers at the entrance - and make the restaurant bigger since there are often a lot of people there. read more

I've been here several times and I feel like it is always hit or miss. The Thai food is pretty consistent in quality and taste. Pretty good stuff if you're looking for some simple Thai food. The sushi though is the inconsistent part. I feel like sometimes it tastes good, and other times the fish seems a little mushy. It might have to do with the way the fish is stored or maybe how it is handled, but sometimes I get a slice of fish that just doesn't taste right (and also doesn't sit right in my stomach after). Not a huge place but not congested. I sat at sushi bar and while I had no issues since the place was at 30% capacity. I could see that I would feel constricted if at 60%. We had the worst time at this restaurant - terrible service, awful food and poor management. We've been coming here on a regular basis for a very long time but this is the last unless we hear from others things are improving. Our food didn't taste or look good at all - soggy pad thai and cold " " hot tea. It was evident something was off with the quality and when offered some suggestion that the satay/chicken had a bad smell/taste was completely dismissed and found ourselves with a manager that didn't care, resorted to arguing and/or was acting as never saw us before asking if it was first time - "that's how they do it" - even though we've been in regularly for ages and have experienced good food in the past. This was after the waitress admitted the regular chef was gone... so, I'm a bit sad to give a poor review because in the past we've genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere and food but after the lack of care and rude behavior in addition to the crappy meal it'll be a long while until we venture back here. I really enjoyed our lunch here this weekend. My mom and sister have been before and recommended it as a good place for Thai food. I had the larb which was delicious and exactly what I expected. My sister and mom ordered pad see ew and both loved theirs. The crab puffs were wonderful, almost like an elevated crab rangoon. We initially ordered the scallop dynamite but after tasting it and not getting any onion, mushroom, or scallops, only a baked fish on top, we asked if we received the wrong dish. Our waiter seemed a bit upset and sent out a very nice lady that I imagine was the manager. She explained the scallops were chopped with the fish before being baked on top of the rice. She then offered to make us some scallop nigiri which we were charged for instead and they were absolutely delicious! I'd order everything aside from the dynamite again. Our drinks were constantly refilled, we just got the cold shoulder from our waiter after the dynamite fiasco. I had heard so much about this place so I decided to give it a try. We went on a Sunday night and the place was teeming with guests. We didn't have reservations so were seated at the bar. I would recommend calling ahead of time for reservations if visiting over the weekend. We got two appetizers- Spicy chicken Laab and shrimp and vegetable tempura. We also got Lychee wine with our appetizers. Our drinks and salad came quickly but the tempura took a while. When they arrived, the tempuras were lukewarm which was a bit disappointing. Taste wise it was okay, it would have tasted much better if it were warmer. For dinner, we got sushi bomb special and green curry with seafood. I thought both items were average when it comes to taste and flavor. Both our entrees took a while! The green curry was a little too runny for our liking and the sushi was okay. Always an amazing time. I used to come here years ago on a regular basis when I lived in Morrisville, but now that I'm in Durham it is not as close to my house or my job.
