I was craving for some sushi for lunch and got to say that I've had better sushi. They put too much rice and doesn't taste like they seasoned the rice with rice vinegar. They over-drench the sauce on the sushi and was overpowering. Decent prices but not worth it. read more

2 visits First visit - They forgot the 4 California Roll pieces with meal. Second visit - My meal came in the following order: Soup Entree Salad (After I reminded them) Appetizer Sushi Roll 4 piece California roll (After 2nd reminder) Then the bad part - paying I guess I should not have tried to use a $10 gift card. For some reason, they couldn't get it to work, so I paid (with tip $33) on a different card. I called the gift card company to ask where the money was, and they said, "It was just charged at Sushi Time and that I just needed to go back and ask for a refund." I tried. Half a dozen times I said, "Call the Card Company." I was rebuffed every time. Finally, I said "Keep the $10." And, I left. I hope the $10 was important to them. Seriously bad. Sushi has 1/10th of an inch thick fish on it. Tempura udon consisted of noodles,broth, some thin sliced mushrooms and zucchini (around 5 of each) and that's it, no tempura anything. For a dollar less I could have gone to robata and had wonderful udon. Seems like a great deal until you see how much fish you get and how much is missing from your soup. read more

Favorite place to get sushi near my house. Best lunch deal I've seen anywhere in Dallas. $10 gets you 6 small rolls and an 8 piece specialty roll PLUS miso soup and a small salad. Am I even in Dallas??? Alaskan roll is my favorite, the salmon is always what I'm craving. Love the spicy salmon rolls too. Run by a really nice Japanese family. The quality of the fish is what you expect for the price, but they have good variety in their special rolls. They have other well priced combos for simple rolls and sashimi, but I've never tried those. Have tried their bulgogi beef lunch plate and it was pretty good too. Something for everyone here. We went twice and couldn't get in. The have weird times of day when they decide to close for breaks. We called ahead and showed up to OPEN sign at the door. When we attempted to go in " oh we closed for a break". I stated that I had just called and was advised the restaurant was open. I have become a big fan of this place. It appears to be a small and casual eat out place but a neat one. Their Sushi and Rolls are simply best. Friendly staff and it shows that they really do take care to serve you the best. The prices for Rolls/ Sushis are actually less than what you would pay at other sushi places in the neighborhood. Okay..don't let the look of the place as you drive up scare you off. It is, admittedly, in a strange little strip center nestled in between a waffle house and a porn shop. Hmmm..Anyway. A friend from Hawaii pointed the huzbun and I in their direction. Apparently, the best sushi she's had since she moved to the mainland many moons ago. So one random Monday we decided to give it a shot. Now we've become regulars. The staff is great. Really REALLY happy and friendly. They do bring out freebies a lot of times (miso soup sometimes, extra roll another.) The food is unbelievable. Big, fat rolls-and they have 2 for $10 bucks specials...and they'll let you mix and match. At this point, we've tried everything on their menu and I've never been disappointed. As someone who as been coming to Sushi Time for the last 7 years I'm disappointed with the recent change. Change is good but not in this case. Over the years I tried almost every dish and loved each one of them. I even stopped going to other sushi restaurants so I could remain loyal to this beloved place. If I had posted this review a year it would have been a different story, I would have highly recommended this place and told you how I visited Sushi Time up to 3 times a week. It disappoints me to tell you that I am no longer coming here. The waitress was really sweet and friendly. She recognized my face and knew my orders, but the service isn't the reason why I'm not returning. I am so disappointed. This place was always so good. They changed the entire menu, but I was excited when I saw they kept the mockingbird roll. No. It wasn't even close to the same! It was bland. Not the best sushi but definitely above average especially considering the price. It is the cheapest sushi place I've seen. I'm not sure they want to be considered cheap sushi, but it is and that's a good thing when its good. This place is pretty good I would definitely come again for a quick meal nothing fancy here it's in a shopping strip on Mockingbird pretty close to the airport I just got out of the gym so I was hungry and stopped in for a quick bite. The place is small it only has one server and one chef I ordered a 2 rolls for $10 combo. I had the Hawaiian which is basically a California roll with avocado and a little bit of tuna on top and my second roll was a California roll. The rolls were both fresh. It came with miso soup and a salad I didn't have the salad but the Miso was good. He skimped a little bit on the ginger and I had to ask for more and she was very nice and brought it quickly. Overall it's a good place for a quick bite not really a date kind of place. You can't beat the special. They also have sushi and sushi roll combos for around $13. I think I'll try that next time. At the end of the day I got out of there for $12 and I'm satisfied. read more

Will have to give 0 stars since I never actually got to eat there. They brought out my order completely wrong. Then they told me they could not remake it because they were too busy. As other reviews said, the service can be a bit slow, but things actually move along fast if you call the order in. The value is undoubtedly the best around when it comes to sushi. The salad and miso soup were an unexpected bonus. Their salad dressing has a very unique touch that makes you want more. The mocking bird roll was excellent! I use to love this place until I found a hair in my sushi roll. The waitress acted like it was my fault that I ate some of my rolls before discovering the hair. As I kept pointing it out to her she kept acting like she couldn't see it until I took it out and handed it to her in the palm of her hand. She made it seem like it was still my fault because I wanted my money back for a hair ruining my lunch. I use to eat there at least once a week until now. I asked for a manager and got "I don't understand you", but she understood me when she took my money each week. Will never eat there again. read more

I got the 2 for $10 combo to-go, and oh, it does NOT come with soup & salad when you get it to-go I was informed 5 times by the hostess after asking "I thought it came with soup?". I had the Alaskan Roll and Spicy Crab ... Alaskan was all avocado and rice, and I'm pretty sure it's Minute Rice. Nothing like I've ever tasted on sushi before. I will most certainly NOT be coming back to this establishment. Don't be fooled by the (apparent) deal! Eatzis has amazing sushi for the same price. I love sushi! i'm a sushi fan! These guys are always busy during lunch time, but I always call ahead to get it to go so I can eat back at the office. The sushi is decent, the staff is fast, and price is on point. Really the only negative I can put on here is that when you order a large sashimi tray when its busy, sometimes its still not thawed all the way. That's the only bummer. I love this place. I eat here pretty consistently. The owners are great. They stay busy at lunch CALL IN YOUR ORDER 20 MINS PRIOR TO YOUR LUNCH TIME if you are in a time crunch. They do not have substitutions on there lunch specials. If its something small like no sauce or extra rice on your rolls they will do that or wrap in soy paper instead etc. They will not change out the rolls on their 2 for 10 specials. They get so many orders in and there are only 2 people working sometimes 3. They are attentive to your wants/needs. There is a little bit of a language barrier but if you are patient its worth it. I have noticed that you get treated according to how you treat them. I love that business philosophy/customer service style. Small venue but I think they like it that way! This restaurant is a little gem. The prices are lower than the average sushi restaurant, and the fish has always been impeccably fresh the half dozen times that I've been. It's rapidly become one of my favorites, and I have frequented all the sushi restaurants in the uptown area. Understand that the service is not fast in this restaurant, but the staff goes out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. This is a place to go when you want a leisurely meal. For those who do not have a sense of adventure and who do not appreciate unique twists, this restaurant is not for you. This wonderful little sushi restaurant has their own spin on many of the conventional rolls that are mainstays in sushi restaurants. Having dined in sushi restaurants across the U.S., I have found Sushi Time's sauces to be among the most original I've come across. I love their honey wasabi sauce, and their volcano roll is remarkably good. I also recommend their crunch roll, Alaskan roll, Hawaiian roll, and catepillar roll. read more
