Sushi Party Platter (Medium size, 68 Pieces)
    Eliza O.

I love supporting this local business! The sushi party platter is so worth it for a group of 2-4 people. I enjoyed the variety of sushi and the service here is great. Pickup for the party platter was very easy and quick. This shop is tiny, but it's awesome that you can see your sushi being made right in front of you!

Great Service, Clean shop, I ordered the Yubu Lunch Box and OH WOW was it delicious very fairly priced! The miso was hot and delicious, cucumber salad was light and refreshing, the sushi tasted fresh and packed full of flavor to be honest I wasn't sure what I ordered but by the look of everything I knew I was in for an amazing lunch, I'm so excited to be walking distance to this location the only downside I have to say is that I am upset I didn't try it sooner definitely going to be a battle not going there everyday, 5 out of 5 Stars HIGHLY RECOMMEND

A great place for well, to go sushi. Inside, it's somewhat small, with several chairs to sit and wait and a small refrigerator with drinks you can purchase, to wash down some of that delicious sushi. There is a menu up top and adjacent wall, where you can pick and order sushi at the register. Sushi takes about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare, and you're on your merry way. I went ahead and ordered the rainbow roll, spider roll, and tuna roll. Total was less than $30 and all the rolls were delicious and on point. Just enough ginger and wasabi with the order too, which some places skimp out on. Not here. I recommend, plenty of parking in the front.

Spicy Sushi Combo came with Spicy Tuna Roll (6pcs) & nigiri sushi (4pcs)

If you're in the area (i.e. Palatine), this places lives up to its name. If you want good sushi to go, this should be at the top of your list. I ordered a Spicy Sushi Combo which came with a Spicy Tuna Roll (6pcs) & nigiri sushi (4pcs) for a hair under $10. I split it with my wife, and was pleased with the taste, presentation, and speedy turnaround after placing my order in person (~5-10 minutes.) Looking at the rest of the menu, this place is VERY reasonable in price, so I will certainly have to try some of the other rolls. As Ahnald would say, "I'll be back."

    Salmon Roll and Alaskan Roll.

I live nearby, and I finally decided to give it a try. This is a quick, little sushi place. This is not a sit-down place; the name states it all! I ordered two rolls and a side of edamame, all for under 20 dollars! I had the Alaskan Roll (spider crab, salmon, and some veggies), and I had the basic Salmon Roll. Both were rolled nicely, and they stayed intact. Neither roll was too big or too small. The fish was fresh, along with the crunchy crab. The avocado in the salmon was starting to turn a bit brown, but it was not old. Overall, this place is a small treasure! No, you won't get the intimate sit-down style, but you will get tasty sushi for a solid price! I am definitely coming back!

I believe we ate lunch on a weekday. The service was ok, a few of the items we wanted to order were not available. Their sushi chef was not there that day, so no sushi was available to order, along with one or two other entrees we wanted to order. The food was average, nothing that stood out as great or exceptionally bad. The one thing I remembered thinking positively was the curry chicken rice plate. The curry sauce was good. The chicken wasn't the traditional breaded chicken cutlet, rather pieces of chicken karage, which was good. I don't know if it would be fair to say we'd never go back to try again, but we do have places we really like near by, so it isn't likely we're going back anytime soon.

A bowl of soup that I can get for $8.99 at the local Asian marts food court costs near $20 This is just another hack chain restaurant trying to bilk money. Don't open your damned restaurant if you don't have tofu. Thats basic Asian. Don't bother opening if you don't have your flagship soup or sushi and just have crap available. There's a kind of "night out" vibe here, even if you're just grabbing dinner on a random weeknight. The menu is creative, with specialty rolls and fusion-style dishes that feel a little more elevated than your standard lineup. When it's on, it's really on. Service is iffy to be honest. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the whole experience feels polished. Drinks are well-crafted, and the patio (when open) adds a whole extra layer to the experience. That said, this is where the missing fifth star lives. Shakou can be a little inconsistent. Some visits feel like a five-star experience, others land closer to "really good, but not unforgettable." A few dishes might lean a bit too sweet or not quite balance the flavors, and during busier times, things can feel a little rushed or loud. But even with that, it's still an easy recommendation. This is a great spot when you want sushi that feels a little more upscale without going full fine dining. It's stylish, flavorful, and usually delivers a really solid experience. Four stars, comfortably... with just enough flashes of brilliance to make you keep coming back!

We had to stand in the lobby for 5 minutes without much information, while other groups who came in without a reservation after us were seated before us. Furthermore, the reservation was for the "Patio" and while technically we were seated on the "Patio", I would say it was the bottom rung of the patio. Sat at the first table outside the restaurant, underneath the awning with a bird's nest overhead chirping the entire time. Essentially in my opinion, when you make a reservation somewhere, you don't really expect to be seated in probably the worst location they have to offer. Food was pretty decent. We had two bowls basically. Both were okay, like any Sushi style restaurant, prices were a bit high, especially considering their location in the heart of the AH downtown. I would come again, but for a first try it wasn't anything special for sure.
