Sushi to the Moon is excellent and we will be back again!! We had a delightful waitress who went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect suggesting menu items based on our favorite fishes and flavors. She was nonstop smiles and so friendly! We were treated like royals! Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Sushi to the Moon has the best ponzu sauce I've ever had and complimented the rolls we ordered. Even the sake was delicious!

Overall, the food was fantastic! The Wakame Salad was fresh, a little sweet, and a little acidic making it a great light start up the meal. The octopus was cut into pieces which really aids it in terms of texture since it is not a very delicate fish and was a little sweet with some ocean salty notes. The futo maki is one of their vegetarian rolls and is great if you're looking for someone who does not want to eat anything too heavy. The roll was crispy and the egg was also a little sweet and this dish felt like a good Japanese interpretation of a vietnamese spring roll. If you do get this roll I also reccommend adding a touch of soy sauce to intensify the sushi flavor.

The Lion King roll was the star of the show and was both crispy from the seared salmon and delicate from the crab mix and salmon roe. The roll also melts in your mouth whoch provides a nice contrast to the crispy salmon and the taste...

Thankfully the ratings were calling me in because I have been taking my son to the coding place next door for 3 years now and haven't ever even been curious about a strip mall sushi place. It's SO clean. The decor is crisp, floral, calm, and inviting. Our server was FANTASTIC! She is a Mom of grown boys and was really excited to welcome us for a special graduate lunch that day. We ate miso soup, salads, sashimi, and a few specialty rolls. I'll say my belly tuna roll lacked something- maybe needed cucumber or something? But I didn't even bat a lash because everything else was top notch. She even brought us over a yummy celebration treat and we all sang Happy Graduation Day together to absolutely mortify my son. Will will be regulars now! To THE MOOoooOooOoON!

We got a little bit of everything, and nothing disappointed. It's phenomenal to get such high quality sushi this far north...even if this place were closer to downtown or the Domain, I have no doubt they'd compete well with the larger more infamous places. The toro and nigiri samplers were delicious. Perfectly cooked rice, and seasoned just right to bring out each unique fish. But man, my daughter got the beef udon and I just couldn't let her not finish the bowl. That broth was a good balance between sweet and salty, and was some of the best i've had in ATX (granted I normally don't try the udon at sushi places). The mentaiko dumplings as a starter really stole the show with the creamy cheese and rich pollack sauce matching perfectly with the pork based dumpling. If you're a roll fan, I'd highly suggest the Napa Valley roll with a great special sauce that reminds me of Mushashinos. We're so happy to have a place so close to us up north...this will be our go to spot on the north side of town.

Solid quality in a quaint little place. Contrary to other people, I actually really like the ambience and decor here. It feels simple yet clean and modern. It doesn't really feel super close to Japanese style though. I got the bento box and tried the hamachi roll. Both were solid. The bento box I picked was the beef teriyaki and the ahi poki. The "pickles" are in fact not pickles they are daikon. The ahi tasted fresh and solid but after a while there's some flavor fatigue. The beef teriyaki tasted solid but more korean leaning like galbi but not as good. The hamachi roll was okay. The price is a little bit on the higher side but quality is good. Service is good as well. Not sure if I would go back but maybe if I was in the area!

I came to this location last month for lunch with my partner. While this was not my first time at this location, it is my first review of this place! Why did it take so long, I have no clue? We specifically came to this location to get the lunch Bento box specials. Bento box The Bento box lunch specials here are fully customizable (based upon a set list of items of course), which is nice as you can get as you can really have it your way (written in the B.K. theme song tone). We both elected to get the sushi, teriyaki chicken and salmon respectively. The lunch special bento boxes also come with standard white rice, a small salad with sesame dressing and miso soup. The beto boxes are truly filling for their size which I acredit to the rice from both the sushi and the portion that comes with the lunch. The teriyaki was perfectly balanced as it wasn't too salty which was perfect as when it tastes overwhelmingly savory, masking other flavors like sweetness and garlic. Conversely, the miso soup was a bit too salty for my liking. Sometimes the saltiness in miso soup can vary depending on the type and amount of miso paste used. I didnt think to tell the staff that I required something lower in sodium which is my fault. We also ordered another sushi role that was made with crispy salmon, jalapeno, spicy mayo, Sriracha and seaweed. The sushi role was crunchy and had a nice kick of flavor. Paired with wasabi, this role was an explosive flavor bomb. The service coupled with the food, vaule for quanity of food and service make this an ideal luch spot for fresh sushi. #supportlocal

After my nail appointment next door, I decided to give Sushi to the Moon a try--honestly, how can you not love that name? I was warmly greeted by Jasmine, who took the time to walk me through the menu and explain the lunch specials. Since I was the only one in the restaurant at the time, I got to ask plenty of questions and even learned a bit about the chefs and ownership--a really nice touch that made the experience feel personal. I placed my order to go, and when I got to my location, I was blown away by the portion size. For just $18, a huge portion Bento box that included salad, California rolls, rice, teriyaki beef, and all the delicious fixings you'd expect. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully packed. Loved, loved, loved it--this spot is a hidden gem! Can't wait to come back. Austin Yelp Elite All-Star approved!

This was our first but not last visit to Sushi to the Moon. Here are the vitals. The service is excellent, the fish is fresh, the portions are ample, and there is something on the menu for everyone. From their website: Owner and Chef, Joon has over 20 years of experience in Japanese cuisine from Napa Valley California. He has definitely brought a California vibe to Leander! We ordered our usual sushi combo bluefin, hamachi, yellowtail, and sake. This fish requires minimal if, not zero, soy sauce and wasabi. This fish was so good we went for a reduced round two. Sidebar: I don't understand why folks drown their sushi in soy sauce and wasabi. My recommendation buy your sushi at HEB and drown it! We also ordered their hangry roll which is a fried roll. This one-of-a-kind roll has yellowtail, spicy crabmeat, cream cheese, jalapenos, and a special sauce. The presentation is wonderful, yes there is a flame. This combination of fish, sauce, and heat is a cornucopia of flavor. If you are not into sushi check out their menu as they also offer noodle bowls and other cooked entrees. Speaking of beverages they have a good selection of sake and a few interesting beers. If you wish to bring your own adult beverage there is a corkage fee. Easy 5-star review.

Came here for an early dinner and it wasn't busy at all. This was around 6 p.m. The inside looks nice with a sushi bar near the entrance and a nice waiting area if you need to wait for your Togo order or a table to free up. We ordered our food and all the raw food came out pretty quickly. The cooked food, on the other hand, took some time. The chicken katsu had a very crispy texture to it, almost very similar to the ones in Japan. The sushi itself was decent and fresh. The slices of fish were a decent size and it was proportionally nice with the rice. The dessert was okay and that I can pass on next time. It didn't have the same flavor as the ones in Japan.

This place was decent when they first opened but greed has struck. If over priced sushi made with meager amounts of fish and nasty service is your thing, then look no further. Visited a few weeks ago and everything start to finish was subpar. Figured they had an off night and didn't hold it against them. Came back soon after and was disappointed again. Definitely no longer a one off. Had a $100 ticket and they might as well have robbed me. Would've gotten more bang for my buck by burning my money. Photos included not one but three rolls which are all lacking an adequate and acceptable amount of fish. Long story short, go spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

We order takeout from Sushi to the Moon several times a month. The sushi and various appetizers we typically order are usually good. I'm particularly fond of the bento box. But the food is pricey, and the quality can be inconsistent. For example, I had the yakisoba (stir fried noodles, chicken, and veggies) a few days ago, and it was nearly inedible. I think they had one person waiting every table in the place. It took forever to get anything. The food was just OK... nothing special. The wine selection was very minimal and everything in the place is VERY overpriced. I am glad that we tried it, but go at your own risk. I will definitely not be rushing back there anytime soon. We had the Hamachi Lover Roll (fresh and flavorful) ,avocado ball, melting albacore (a must try!!!). Additionally the chicken karaage is a must try!! Seriously such a cute spot for date night! My husband and I are new to the area and wanted to try out a new sushi spot for our date nights. I don't think we could have found a better spot! We went on a Saturday and there's plenty of seating in the dining room so we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server Lauren was very knowledgeable with the menu. She gave us some suggestions on the popular rolls as well as the newer rolls to the menu. For our meal we had the Spicy Edamame, Salmon Lover's roll, Lion King roll, Hangry fish roll and a brand new spicy roll that had been added to the menu that day! All of them were amazing. Imagine my giddy excitement to hear that a sushi restaurant was opening a half mile from my home, and then imagine my delight to find that it is good sushi. Shrimp tempura was properly light and sauce perfectly complimentary. Chefs choice of sashimi. Some of the best hamachi I've ever had, so they have a great supplier for their fish. Uni was on point, served properly in nori. Atmosphere is very bright and decor simple but tasteful. All in all a strong opening, I have no doubt Sushi to the Moon is here to stay, but you should come soon before the crowds make it hard to get a table. read more

This is a hidden gem in the Leander , Cedar Park area. The setup of the restaurant is so simple yet elegant. It gives a welcoming vibe. The staff are very friendly and polite. Whatever we tried there staring from Ramune, the ice tea to various Sushi, rolls were great. The bento box with prawns was excellent. Quality food and lovely modern presentation. Thoughtfully designed interior with clean, modern elements. Perfect for anything from a dinner date to a lunch with coworkers. The saba don (mackerel bowl) was perfectly seasoned, crispy, and just the right sized portion with the rice & fresh veggies. The sushi lunch plate was beautifully presented on a wood plate with clean, simple, fresh fish. I might think twice before bringing my kids because it would disturb the peaceful vibe, or if I was extra hungry and needed just a bunch of carbs. The lunch specials were a welcome change from some restaurants' lunch special bento boxes which are too filling to truly be a lunch portion. Nothing I'd change. Y'all. We went based on the reviews alone and everyone was right. RUN, don't walk. Selfishly, I'm almost a little bit scared too many people will find out about this place- I want it all to myself. We split the rainbow, lion king, tiger, and dragon roll, as well as the spicy edamame and we were savoring every bite. The kind of food that makes you want to do a little dancey-dance. This was some of the best service I've ever received, Ms. Jasmine was unbelievably helpful and available, she was kind and efficient. We just moved to the Austin area and tried Sushi to the moon for the first time. It was absolutely amazing! We went for an early 5:00 dinner and it was already pretty full. A nice mix of families and couples. Decor is new, modern and crisp. Everyone greets you upon entering and leaving. Our service was impeccable. Ou server was super friendly and thorough in providing great recommendations. We tried the daily sashimi special (blue fin and toro) which was super fresh and flavorful. It just melted in your mouth! We also tried the hangry roll which came out in a beautiful mini fireside presentation. Just stunning. In addition, we had the sukiyaki which came out in a "hot pot" style with white rice on the side. The beef was delicately and thinly sliced and super flavorful with yummy mini "noodle bundles" in it. We've been going to Sushi To The Moon pretty much since they opened and it was always our favorite sushi restaurant. Not any longer. Tonight we place an order-to-go, three speciality rolls and 1 regular roll, all which we previously ordered several times. We were extremely disappointed with the size of the rolls, taste and quality. The Country Girl roll tasted like a blob of imitation crab, it was horrible. The sushi used to melt in your mouth but not any longer. In addition, I asked for extra wasabi and ginger. After getting home, we were upset that we received only two containers each with less than 1/2 teaspoon of wasabi and four shavings of ginger. The ginger was dried out as though it had been sitting in the 'to-go' containers for days. If Sushi To The Moon switched to lower standards then they should stop charging $85 - $90 for four small rolls. read more

We have driven by this place a number of times before finally stopping in and sat at the sushi bar. Staff is quite friendly and the menu is very broad. Service was attentive and our rolls crafted with care. It is apparent that everything is made fresh because we could see the kitchen from where we sat. There is an early bird menu that features discounts in various menu items between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. The Hamachi Kama and Yuzu cheesecake are excellent. We will definitely be back. read more

I gotten both take out and dined in the restaurant. The food has been excellent both times. My favorite is the tiger roll and the yakisoba. My partner had the hangry roll and the lion king roll and said they were great. The restaurant is tucked into a shopping center and once you open the front door you're greeted by the staff. It's been years since our last visit to Sushi Bang Bang--long before COVID-19 pandemic. I was initially excited to try one of their bento meals after seeing the menu online, but the prices at the restaurant were much higher than what was posted. That's understandable considering how much costs have gone up over the years, so we decided to go with the AYCE option instead. It turned out to be the perfect choice. A special shoutout to our server, whose name I unfortunately forgot to ask. She was friendly, attentive, and honest enough to recommend that we not order too much at first because the tempura portions are much larger than expected. The portion sizes here are much bigger than what we're used to at AYCE sushi restaurants in San Antonio. The shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura were generously sized, with thick, crispy batter that was still flavorful and delicious. Some of our favorite were the Salmon Skin salad, which stayed perfectly crispy even with the dressing, and the Mushroom Soup, which was light, flavorful, and not thick or creamy like many other versions. The shrimp and chicken shumai, chicken karaage, mango rolls, and all of the sashimi we ordered were fresh and delicious as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Between the generous portions, fresh and tasty food, and outstanding service, Sushi Bang Bang reminded us why we enjoyed dining here years ago. I was excited to try this new sushi restaurant in the neighborhood with high ratings, but was disappointed by the mediocre quality. The service was somewhat inadequate, but with only two servers for ten parties at the time, it was understandable. However, I understand that this is a newly opened restaurant and staffing can be improved over time. The chair I sat on was wobbly... that's unexpected for a newly opened restaurant, especially at this price point. I don't mean that one of the legs was short or the floor was uneven, I really mean that the joints were loose. I don't know what to make of it, but it did not impact my review. My major concern was the sushi rice, which was stiff in the baked roll, normal-temperature roll, and nigiri I ordered. This could have been due to the wrong rice selection or improper preparation. Since it affected all three rice-related items, it is unlikely an isolated incident, at least for today. The lion king roll was served quickly and not hot enough, which negatively impacted the taste, texture, and aroma. The taste was okay, but far from great, and there is definitely room for improvement. The nigiri and the other roll were also mediocre due to the poor quality of the rice, and their tastes were also not remarkable. The rock shrimp tempura was an unexpected dish, as it was more like Chinese restaurant's walnut shrimp, but with smaller shrimps and without the walnuts. Although it tasted good, it felt misleading. In conclusion, the prices are reasonable for above-average to high-quality sushi, but the quality unfortunately is lacking. read more

We were treated like royalties from the moment we stepped in until we left. But this is not it! Thought we were coming to a place just for some sushi because we were hungry. I've only tried the AYCE, but I have been joined by folks who tried the à la carte options, such as the bento boxes. The rolls are divided into two major sections on the menu: raw and cooked. I've tried several from each and am pleased with everything I've tried. The most important thing to note: ALL sushi is made TO ORDER. This means you will not be eating something that was made 10 or 20 minutes ago and picked on by passersby (like on a traditional buffet). These rolls are prepared by their chefs as they're ordered. Another important thing - the rolls and the nigiri are not huge balls of rice with your choice of topping. The rice ball is modest, well seasoned, and served at the expected temperature (not chilled). My favorite roll is the Skinny Girl. It is a roll of black pepper-crusted seared tuna and rice. The contrast between the subtle sweetness of the rice and the black pepper, and the rare interior tuna vs. the seared outer tuna, is just delicious. Another favorite is the Dragon Roll ,hich is grilled unagi (eel), avocado, and rice with eel sauce drizzled atop. The unagi is tender, but also crisp along the edges. The sweetness of the sauce complements the toasty bits perfectly. Like BBQ. I've also tried several appetizers such as calamari, sesame balls, udon noodle stir fry, and fried rice with various proteins. I'm a fan of Japanese-styled fried rice. Machi's is no different. It's great. The udon noodles are sauced a bit heavy, but are deliciously chewy and well seasoned. The calamari is usually perfectly fried, yielding a tender morsel of calamari contrasted against the crunchy exterior. But sometimes the calamari can be a bit overcooked, leading to a chewier ring - delicious, but not as much as when it is fried just right. The sesame balls are a mainstay for Asian AYCE for me. I love them. Machi's are good - but only so. They tend to be a bit oil laden which means the oil was probably not the right temperature when they plopped in. I don't know why, but they are served with a chocolate sauce. It's an interesting addition, but unnecessary, and it detracts from the lightly sweetened red bean paste interior. I've also tried an assortment from their nigiri fish/rice only menu. I always ask for white tuna, tuna, red snapper, and salmon. The pieces are a bit smaller than you might be accustomed to, but they're great, and you can order quite a number of them (up to 20). Next, let me talk about the service. We've been on several occasions now. Random impromptu first time at lunch, then another at lunch time when a friend joined us last minute (we were already seated and receiving food), and even dinner and weekends. Each time, the servers were prompt and courteous. Sometimes things pick up rather suddenly, and despite the apparent plethora of staff, they get a bit bogged down. Just plan accordingly. Order your drinks and appetizers, and your other starters, such as fried rice, etc. Plan to place your order for entree items when they bring the initial order out, etc. This makes optimal use of your time and theirs. Reminder: they are preparing the food as you order it. Imagine grocery shopping. If you make a list and shop once, it's one trip. If you keep forgetting stuff and have to go back, each trip consumes time. This is the same with this format service. If you need something mid-chow-down, just look for the nearest waitstaff and wave your hand - they can take your order or beckon your waiter for you. It's not a big deal. Finally, let me say a few words about the ambiance. For Georgetown, and particularly an AYCE, I feel like Machi's is well done. It feels cozy, but also a bit sophisticated with its wall paneling, lighting choices, and pergola-styled booths. The sushi kitchen is in plain sight and has a nice paneled backdrop that adds visual interest. Machi can be a casual date night or simply lunch/dinner with friends and family. Don't forget the cocktails! All in all, I'm happy we kept an eye on Machi's space over the months. We know that service and the experience will improve as the restaurant matures and patrons learn the format. This is a weird thing to say, but it is an important caveat: this isn't a 5* sushi joint. I've had some really expensive experiences, including non-AYCE options in town that elicited at most a "meh." Machi is just a modest and casual experience that is accessible, has great food, and is well done. Two final thoughts: Their soy sauce seems very thin. It isn't tamari. I'm not sure if it's just a reduced sodium soy sauce, or what. Their restrooms, thus far, seem well cared for. Thank goodness! Nothing like going into a bathroom to blow your nose or wash your hands and be horrified.
