    Special Combo

Craving some Japanese food right before the new year so we headed to this quaint authentic Japanese place for their combo special for $40. Ambiance is simple and they do have a room for bigger parties. They also offer specials and have an extensive menu. Service is good as they keep coming to refill our glasses and food served without delay.

Excellent sashimi. Excellent ambiance and Japanese staff. A lot of fresh options and authentic food. Lots of lunch combo options

I loved this sushi spot!!!!! They had the cute little tables on the floor where you have to take your shoes off to sit. That was such a cool vibe! The service was great and everyone was so nice. The food was also obviously amazing. They had such a range of foods from noodles and rices, to sushi & omakase to fried foods and cooked appetizers. I loved the spicy scallop wrapped in avocado and the fresh octopus with pickled wasabi. The fish was also so fresh I could've had 100 plates. This is a great spot I highly recommend !! They're also so accommodating to people who can't eat rice. They had a riceless roll menu and can make any hand roll without rice. I loved my riceless eel avocado roll!

    Sardine sashimi.

Had a good dinner at this spot. They have a decent menu and I enjoyed it. I had the horse and Japanese mackerel sashimi. The horse ( it's not horse) mackerel was not my favorite. The Japanese mackerel was good, but not spectacular. The best thing I had was the sardine sashimi. Otherwise, the happy hour is worthwhile including house saki and Japanese whiskey. Service was very good. I ate in the bar and the bartender was very kind and engaging.

We had a lovely dinner here. Staff were very attentive and friendly. They helped organize a surprise birthday dessert for my friend with a candle. Food was great and they had some interesting menu items - the ginger mackerel roll was very nice. Nice interiors too!

    Chirashi!

Located a couple blocks from Grand Central, this little gem of a sushi restaurant definitely gets a lot of foot traffic during the week. On the Saturday we visited, however, the place was quiet, to the point where there was no host near the front door. I walked in, and waited for at least 5 minutes before a waiter doing double duty as host walked by and noticed me. The sushi here is surprisingly delicious for the price. In their designated weekend lunch menu, you will find multiple combo options which include a number of sushi/sashimi options. We went with the Selection Lunch combo, chirashi, and 2 orders of a la carte nigiri ($5.50/2 pieces). The Selection Lunch comes with soup, salad, rice, tempura, a maki roll, and 2 additional items from a small list. You get a little bit of everything. However, for a couple bucks more, I recommend you go for the beautiful chirashi! Perfectly seasoned sushi rice with a beautiful variety of fresh fish on top. Delicious! One thing to note is that Tsushima is very stingy with their wasabi. I had to ask 2x during my meal for more because each serving they brought out was about the size of a dime.

    Clam Ramen!

Came in just for the clam ramen. I love ramen but many times found it too salty. This is soooo good. The broth is exquisite. Come and try before it disappear from the menu.

Uhmmmm hit or miss. Appetizers we got were all pretty bad - Fried Ice Fish - barely any fish, I know ice fish are small already but then the amount of batter they use I was basically eating the fried dough ew. Grilled Beef Tongue - the center 2-3 pieces were cooked perfectly tender, the rest 7 pieces were burnt and dried that's not edible. Grilled Mackerel - a tiny slice for $12. Looks like a joke on a plate. For sushi - we went for a la carte, which surprisingly almost loved every pieces we had (I mean honestly I expected an okay quality sushi here but it was beyond expectation) i was impressed. The space gets really loud and hot a bit hard to have a nice conversation.

    Bruh $18

3 thin slices of fish shorter than your finger for $18 ... common' now Staff super pushy and rude. Asked for big tip and passive aggressive.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

The ube tiramisu was free since we wrote a google review for the restaurant. Everything was delicious and the zucchini was surprisingly good as well. The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu.
