    Salmon Clay Pot. $28.95. Tasty

I was at this unique restaurant a good while ago. As per the name "Isankaya," they are a fun mix of Isan, or Northeastern Thai food, and Japanese izakaya, or bar food. The menu is mostly a mix of dishes from all over Thailand, though only a handful are from Isan. Otherwise, a handful of them were fusion, and there is a small amount of Japanese dishes. The inside was bright from the red neon, but not too much so, thankfully. The woman serving was very friendly, and while they didn't get too crowded as it was very late when I went, there was still a handful of people there. As it was late, I didn't bother getting a drink, though they do have a small selection of beers along with wine, cocktails, and plenty of soft drinks. My appetizer was one of the more interesting dishes I had in recent memory. This was the $13.95 E-San Ankimo, with raw monkfish liver in chili lime dressing with cilantro, culantro, shallot, and toasted rice powder. There were 6 reasonably sized pieces of the raw liver with the spice mixture on the bottom and a small amount of greens. If there is a dish on the menu that perfectly represents this restaurant's name, I would say it's this one. The meat on the plate is ankimo, a Japanese delicacy, and the spice mix is what you find commonly in the Isan/Lao version of larb. The dish had a bit of spice, crunch, and a mild amount of heat, which was an interesting pairing to the delicate and slightly fishy and creamy ankimo. This was delicious, and I would go back to get this alone. I went with one of the few Japanese options as my main dish. This was the Salmon Clay Pot for $28.95, listed as seared salmon served with garlic fried rice topped with fried garlic and ikura. The vessel was presented at the table, and I opened it, revealing the contents. There was plenty of salmon inside, which was buttery and properly cooked. The garlic fried rice had a light crisp to it and plenty of garlic flavor, though some of that was probably from the extra fried garlic. The ikura added some pops of saltiness to this dish. This was also tasty, though I would likely try a Thai dish next time. I can see why the reviews are so high for this place just from my abridged visit. I would definitely go back.

Manhattan is full of amazing Thai spots. With a top rating, my wife and I walked into Yezo Thai on a Friday in April around 1pm and got a table with no wait. Service is superb and quick. Within minutes, our lunch specials were out. Soup or salad, a main, and an appetizer. The green curry with chicken was tasty as was the Thai iced tea. Overall, we had a great experience here!

We were going to go to 7th Street Burger, but we saw this place... it was really good! We got Pineapple fried rice, Short rib massaman, Thai fried rice & Mango sticky rice. They were all really good & fresh. Our server was really nice and funny, and kept up really well on water. We sat outside, but inside somebody was playing the saxophone & there was really colorful decor.

Goong karee (shrimp curry) with a side of rice was so good. I ordered a side of roti as I didn't want to waste the curry! Sean and Molly gave amazing service. This made me miss thailand so much

Yezo Thai Isankaya is a hidden gem in midtown. I was lucky enough to stumble upon them before attending a performance at the nearby Japan Society. Arrived around 6:00 on a Saturday night and was quickly shown to a table; by 6:30 every table was taken, always a good sign. Loved the warm welcome, festive vibe, and cute decorations right away. Their generous happy hour extends from noon until 7:30PM every day including table service. I loved my purplish lychee martini, a nice blend of tart and sweet flavors. Dinner was delicious and portion sizes were generous. The salmon clay pot was incredible--garlicky fried rice with a perfect smoky wok flavor, topped with juicy grilled salmon and fresh ikura. Partner's crab fried rice had lots of fresh crab along with eggs, fried garlic, shallot, cilantro and seafood sauce - so flavorful. Spicing is complex and superb; my mouth was happy but not slammed by overly aggressive flavors. There's live jazz on Saturdays and Fridays, which elevated the vibe even more. Things to Know: Service was on the slower side (at least when I visited) so allow some extra time if you're on a tight schedule. Noise level picked up as more customers arrived, so this may not be the best venue for a quiet chat on busy weekends - (not an issue for me :) Can't wait to return!

Such a cute little place on the side street. We were graciously welcomed and sat right away. The sever was so sweet and friendly, she told us about their happy hour and daily specials. Ordered a few appetizers and they didn't disappoint. The wings were my favorite, have to try.

This thai-japanese fusion spot has a 4.9 rating with over 500 reviews on Google!! The entrees and cocktails/mocktails were the highlight and made close to perfection. The salmon clay pot rice totally caught me off guard. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did, but it's one of those dishes I still think about. The menu definitely leans more Thai than Japanese. The appetizers were just alright, but next time, I'm going straight for the mains. *Salmon Clay Pot Rice $28.95 Cooked salmon over rice can be hit or miss, but it was done just right here. The ikura and the garlic fried rice underneath were rich and packed with umami. So satisfying. *Short Rib Massaman $34.95 Definitely a must try here. The short rib has been braised for over 24 hours. It literally fell off the bone when I tried to grab it lol. It was tender and paired perfectly with the rich massaman curry. The roti on the side was buttery, flaky, and made to scoop up every last bit. *Crying Tiger $17.95 *Keaw Tod $12.95 Served on a stone grill, the beef fully absorbed the smoky flavor. The meat was slightly overcooked even though we ate it right away. While for the crispy wontons, I expected more fillings at this price point. *Coconut Ice Cream $14 It came with three generous scoops of coconut ice cream, topped with peanuts and sweet corn. A tropical combo that could hardly go wrong. *My Summer (Mocktail) $12 *Kham Oon $17 We got Kham Oon with oolong gin which was refreshing and fragrant! I like cocktails with a milder alcohol taste so this one really hit.

Very friendly service and great food! We ordered dishes that you can find in many Thai restaurants, but Yezo does them well. Our favorites were the Crab Fried Rice and Short Rib Massaman- the Massaman curry was less thick than I usually have it but the flavor was on point. It's a cute space that's great for a casual date or dinner with friends

Complimentary fried wonton skin was so yummy! It tastes just like chips! Crying tiger sauce is slightly sweet, savory and tangy! The beef was tender and tasted delicious! The sukiyaki hot pot base is delicious! I highly recommend you try it with beef! The soup was sweet but not overpowering! It complements each ingredient perfectly! The beef is so tender and almost melts in your mouth! The goong karee was also delicious! The curry is on the sweeter side and mild - but just slightly! Not super sweet - just the way I like it! It pairs so well with the white rice! The roti was also super crisp and delicious! The mango sticky rice is a must try!! The rice here is slightly stiffer, but it gives the dish more texture! The syrup isn't too sweet, but still rich and full of depth! I would definitely recommend taking your foodie date here, all of the food was delicious! Also, if you're able to, I would recommend coming on a Friday - sometimes they have live musicians playing!

The food here is so delicious. I absolutely love the Thai food here the decor is amazing. The decorations make the restaurant looks so cozy and authentic. The food is delicious! Super cute place in Midtown!! Service is amazing too

/ Thai food that gave my tastebuds therapy Walked in hungry. Walked out spiritually realigned. The pad thai slapped harder than my Asian mom when I told her I wasn't hungry. Tangy, sweet, spicy -- it had me making noises I shouldn't be making in public. The peanuts on the side were just chilling, probably watching me lose it. Then came the beef stir-fry like a main character in a Netflix drama. Sizzling, juicy, and resting on top of enough peppers to wake up your childhood trauma. The papaya salad? Crunchy, spicy, and looked like it was built by a Thai grandma with unresolved beef. I took one bite and my ancestors whispered, "Finally, flavor." And that radioactive green lychee drink? Tasted like lime soda had a wild night in Bangkok. 12/10 would let it ruin my blood sugar again. Final Verdict: The food didn't just feed me. It emotionally supported me. If I had to pick a last meal, this would be it -- right before the spice takes me out.

I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, every one of them has walked out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch. Staff is always great, and they all work so efficiently. I am generally a fan of izakayas, but there are very few that offer plates that are designed to be shareable, and this is one of the reasons the food here is so enjoyable in a small group setting. I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

Half of their menu is vegan-friendly. Spoiler alert: they will open a permanent location in June/July! *Chicken Karaage*** This chicken karaage was TO DIE FOR -- the caramelized sugar lemon on the side took it to a whole new level. The boneless chicken was so tender and juicy with a thin deep-fried batter. The meat was extremely refreshing after squeezing the lemon and dipping in honey mustard sauce. * Handrolls - Salmon Yuzu, Tuna, Yellowtail** Y'all need to order their handrolls! The sashimi piece was thick and long enough to cover the vinegar rice. It would be a pain to pick which handroll I like more. They layered up the flavors of each piece with house sauces, shiso leaf, fried leek, avocado etc. Wish they would add a handroll set in the future. *Pork Cutlet Curry The curry was a blend of shredded meat, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and grapes (yes grapes!). The pork loin cutlets were crispy and not heavily breaded. The meat was a bit dry, yet it was cut in thin slices so it didn't bother me much. I found the multigrain rice even more enjoyable than white rice with its crunchiness. *Matcha Crème Brûlée** WE LOVED THIS. Matcha flavor is strong. The caramelized top and creamy matcha custard complemented really well. Trust me, their crème brûlée is the best dessert to finish off your meal. *Vegan Matcha Cheesecake This cheesecake was homey and light. Matcha flavor was tasteable but not very strong. The raspberry compote added a nice touch to it. I liked the crunchy biscuit layer on the bottom. *Yuzu White Peach Sparkling *Virgin Green Tea Mojito Their Japanese-inspired mocktails were great and not too sweet (very rare for mocktails). The portion came with a decent amount of chicken which was shareable between three. Shoyu Ramen: Not a standout dish, but seeing as it's not specifically a ramen restaurant, it was standard! Not amazing but not bad. Pork Cutlet Curry: As someone who loves Japanese curry, this hit the spot! Warm flavorful curry with crispy tonkatsu. However, I think it would taste better served with fluffy white rice! Also I think it was served with a side of grapes which was seemed odd unless it's a new food trend I'm unaware of.
