Mine and my husband's favorite place to eat out! Since we make our own sushi every now and then we understand that it takes time and is a slow process, therefore the wait time did not bother us. Also, many of the people that work there do not understand very good english, but for people that don't understand english the service was great. Extremely poor service. Our waiter didn't bother to check in on us at all. We needed to flag down another waiter for drink orders-who couldn't even remember the two different types of drinks we ordered-and for additional sushi rolls. We saw our server once the whole time. The sushi itself was fine, but not the best. I do wish there was more decor on the walls to help stifle the echoing of the different parties in the building. It can get very loud. When I went to pay, the gentleman ringing us up asked us what we got. I apparently stupidly assumed that our waiter would keep our ticket, and we ended up having to go through the menu to figure out what we had ordered. We will not be going there again. read more

I ate here when they first opened and loved it. Great sushi rolls and great service. The older man (manager/owner?) was very friendly and the waiter with the mohawk was great. However I returned there this April and had the worst experience and we will not be returning. I noticed right off that they had a complete staff turn over. None of the same people were there and this may be the issue. We ordered our usual favorites, the deep fried sushi rolls. They arrived after waiting almost an hour and the batter was caked on the rolls. It was so thick on them that I couldn't taste the sushi under all the batter. The rolls were also oversized so you could barely fit them in your mouth and were put together very sloppy. I always order my sushi without the avocado due to allergies however this time Sushi Ya could not remove the avocado because they said their rolls are PREMADE!! Yes, PREMADE!! They must make them the day before or that morning and then stick them in their refrigerator. No wonder they are so disgusting! Then we made the mistake of ordering one more deep fried sushi roll. I have no idea why we did that. We waited 45 mins for ONE roll. Then the waitress put it on our table and it was literally dark brown and charred! GROSS! What waitress would put burnt food on your table?! I took one bite and all I could taste was charred batter. I called the waitress over to tell her and she says, "Oh." and takes the roll away. No apologies, no offer to bring another one, no price reduction on our bill, nothing. On top of the disgusting rolls, the service simply was not there. We had to ask to get a water refill on our glasses. The staff was not personable. They never smiled, never spoke to us, and could really care less that we were there. We won't be back. read more

Love the Hula Roll & Hybrid but there is more rice than other places in the sushi. You do have to eat all the rice or you have to pay for it. Just make sure you plan accordingly and order what you can eat! read more

My boyfriend and I went out for what we thought would be a nice Monday night dinner. When we first walked into Sushi Ya the interior decorating seemed nice. But when we sat down we got our waters and made our order. We waited and waited. After 45 minutes of waiting the cashier told us "only a few more minutes". Then another 10 minutes went by then our waiter who we only saw once when he dropped off our water said "just another minute a saw your order coming up". Another 15 minutes went by so we just picked up and left. I cannot believe that we sat there for over an hour waiting for just two sushi rolls that we ordered!!! So me and my boyfriend went down the street to Osaka which we eat at quite a bit. Sat down gave our order and got our food with in ten minutes!!! Never eat at Sushi Ya. Worst experience i have ever had! Osaka is where its at!!!! read more

Just had the worst dining experience. Service was TERRIBLE to the max. The girl that waits tables there is disrespectful, they were ignoring our table on PURPOSE when other tables were being attended to. I myself work in the customer service industry, and the last thing I'd do when communicating with a customer would be to try to argue or give them dirty looks. Well, that's what she did. Our recent visit to this establishment was a HUGE disappointment. 3 out of the 7 rolls we ordered were all the same, but with a different name. No flavor and the tempura shrimp in one of the rolls was not fresh. If you want to overspend on a non flavored sushi roll head over to this place. Our neighborhood grocery store that has pre -made sushi in their cold case was better than this. read more

20$ all you can eat and I can put down some sushi! Fresh, delicious with quick service. We have been there about 8 times since August. The waitress is always great and the Sapporo always cold. Took my wife on Tuesday and my brother came into town the next day and wanted sushi so we went two days in a row. Loved it! Try the dynamite shrimp or the geisha roll also I'm a sucker for a good salmon skin hand roll. read more

Everything about the place is disgusting. It's more like all you can eat rice than all you can eat sushi. They are incredibly stingy with the fish, and jam pack everything with ten times more rice than any other sushi place I have ever been to. Went for the all you can eat sushi, Ive been before and had some not so great experiences, but decided to give it another chance. The sushi was extra fishy. And I have never thought myself to be a bad tipper, being a waiter in the past. And maybe its just me and my Chinese is a bit off, but being called a cheap bastard did not make things any better. Use to go here once to twice a week until this last weekend. Went in Friday night to have dinner with my wife and friend. Got the opposite result I was hoping for. Food was decent (you can get the same food, same taste at any sushi restaurant) and a very rude waiter. Upon handing them my card, I expressed I was not satisfied with my waiter and explained to who was the "supervisor" there the situation. The supervisor replied the service I received wasn't right and he would take care of my whole ticket. Monday rolls around and I was charged the entire total. The guys while I was complaining, ran my card! So I called to speak to the manager and got the same rude, disrespectful treatment. The manager said the server didn't say anything like and continued to argue with me! Good business practice is the customer comes first and this business does not care about that. They would rather argue when they are in the WRONG. You have lost my business and I hope others stop coming to make you close! Poor business! read more

I did not read the reviews before coming here, and I wish I had. We did not have horrible service, so that's a good thing. The food, however, for the price was not worth it. We ordered four house rolls, each one a different kind with different ingredients and yet 3 out of the 4 rolls tasted the same. Additionally, the rice was hard and disgusting- not suitable for sushi at all. They put a lot of imitation crab on it while skimping on other items which should have been readily recognizable and tasted. The nori (seaweed) in the rolls was so chewy, it took forever to eat a roll. It seemed like the rolls were made a day in advance, put in the fridge, and brought out when ordered and drenched in this awfully sweet house sauce. I don't recall all of my rolls having this sauce in their description but they all came with it. For an appetizer, we got Gyoza. You would think this is an easy item, hard to screw up but it also was bland and flavorless. The dipping sauce was not like traditional Gyoza dipping sauce. If you want decent sushi, look into Osaka. It is just a little further down the road. It was an awful idea for us to not go there to begin with, and we suffered for not sticking with what we know was good. I do NOT recommend this place unless you're starving and nothing else is open. read more

I had boycotted this place for 3-4 years after being a frequent customer. Management and customer service were beyond horrible. I finally returned after being convinced that there was new ownership and management. The return was good in all aspects and i was pleasantly surprised. Met the new owner Matt and mentioned I would probably be a frequent. I returned again the other night after having some family in from Canada asking for a good sushi joint. We arrived at 8:30pm (they close at 9:30). There would be 8 of us eating. I ordered for all and my initial order came out and it was only half what I ordered. I asked where the rest was and was told it was all there. I asked to see my order then so I could show them what I was missing. Nope. Thrown away. I then just placed a second order. By then there was nobody else in the restaurant but my table. It took 20 minutes to get three more rolls. Seriously not another customer there. And then once again I was missing over half my order. I once again had to call the waitress over (cause she never came on her own) and asked where on earth the rest of my order is. Once again I was told it was all there. My guests were completely offended and could not believe how I could be treated that way. I once again proceeded to fill out another order and the ornery waitress by this time came over and asked what i wanted. Sheesh lady, all i freakin want is my order. She proceeded to tell me that they had given me my whole order. I then tried to pay a la carte cause by this time we had now wasted an hour and had only been served way way less than what the price of all you can eat was. Nope we cant do that, you tell me all you can eat when you arrive. Long and short if you advertise ALL YOU CAN EAT at a restaurant do not be worried with what people order. Just be worried about what is left on the customers plate following the meal and charge extra. The waitresses were snobby (Kelly i believe) and the Chef's were very unprofessional too. Matt the owner unfortunately was not there. Being treated like this at a restaurant with guests is what drove me away in the first place. It looks like with new ownership and management/help that it is just the same. My boycott is back and and these guys just missed out on a lot of future business. Food good. Service horrible.
