I returned here for yet another meal. The items I ate are below. Alaska Roll - see previous review for similar thoughts Dragon Eyes Roll - see previous review for similar thoughts Salmon Snack - This was a sushi bar appetizer that consisted of spicy crunch crabmeat wrapped with fresh salmon and seared on top with mango as well as a special sauce. There were 4 relatively large pieces present, and they were excellent. There was a slight spice kick at the end from the spicy crabmeat. There was not really a mango taste I thought, but it did not matter. Kamikaze Roll - This consisted of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, and avocado topped with a three color tobiko. This was plain and simple, but tasty. The different colored tobiko was not my favorite, however. Philadelphia Roll - This consisted of smoked salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese. This was solid, really liked the combinations of the smoked salmon and cream cheese. Tuna Blanc Jumbo Roll - This was made up of spicy tuna, spicy white tuna, shrimp, and a crunch top with white tuna and avocado. Again, this was good and appeared very fresh. My family and I have been coming here for years - it's consistent, staff is great, and most importantly the sushi is fantastic and reasonably priced! I always get their miso soup or seaweed salad. They're both delicious! Today I got the Hurricane Roll and the Avocado Peanut roll. The Hurricane roll was so different and good - the shrimp tempura was crispy on the inside and the soft spicy tuna + salmon combo on top resulted in really great textures. The Avocado Peanut roll is my favorite roll as the avocado is always fresh and the peanuts are toasted nicely. We came on one of the summer Cruise Nights (08/06/21) so it was very busy. It was quite the task to even go in and get our names put down on the waitlist because the front was full of people coming in to either do the same, get seated, or pick up their to go orders. There is not really any sort of order or system to it. We finally got to put our names down and walked around the block to check out the cars on Main Street until our table was ready. It was about an hour before we were called to come back and get seated. What we ordered: - Lemonade - Thai Tea - Kani Salad (mock crabmeat and cucumber with special kani sauce) - Spicy Crab & Seaweed Salad - Hurricane Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber w. spicy shrimp and spicy tuna on top - Dancing Eel Roll (avocado, crunchy, spicy tuna, topped w. eel and avocado) - Volcano Roll (white fish, kani, avocado, eel wrapped seaweed outside, deep fried & topped w. spicy mayo and eel sauce) The food is solid, prices were decent, and our waitress was nice. We got lucky and got seated at one of the two tables outside and enjoy what's left of the nice weather. But at the end of our meal we were charged more than double what we ordered. The waitress figured it out and saw that she accidentally charged our card the amount for the other outside table with 6 people. She said she would cancel the other charge and redo it with the correct amount and she did. No big deal but obviously not preferred. Although I work in the area, I won't likely be coming back anytime soon since nothing really stands out about it to me and there are others close by (including an AYCE spot that's pretty good). read more

Came here for dinner with a few friends. We ordered green salad, vegetable udon noodles, side of fried rice, sweet potato roll, avocado cucumber roll, dynamite roll, chicken and shrimp hibachi style dinner and chicken and steak hibachi style dinner. The rice had a fishy flavor to it and it was over cooked. The udon noodles were kind of bland, but tasted better with addition of the hibachi sauce and soy sauce. Wow - this is the best sushi I've had in a long time. The quality and flavors are comparable to omakase! I'm visiting family in the area and met up with friends in Downtown Somerville. Sushi Yokohama was recommended to me, but I wasn't sure if I was going to try it since our set plans consisted of a coffee shop and exploring the rest of the stores around. I am incredibly glad we got to try the sushi here because it was the best sushi I've had in a long time. The prices were really affordable and the menu was abundant. Our party of three had trouble figuring out what we wanted. We mostly had our eyes on the 3 rolls for $14 lunch special until I joked about getting a love boat - it was only about $55! It was a perfect START to our dinner as we held onto the menu to order more food later on. The love boat had 18 pieces of sashimi, 15 pieces of sushi and an 8 piece Godzilla roll. My god, first bite in and I was super impressed with the flavor and texture of the rice and the size, texture and freshness of the fish. My friends and I were immediately satisfied and compared the sushi to melt-in-your-mouth omakase. It was easy to go back in for more. The Godzilla roll was also a crowd pleaser with its fresh and light flavors and nice texture. We ended up ordering more - because we came in with an appetite, and because we knew whatever we'd order would be incredible. We followed through with our 3 roll lunch special and ordered a roll each. We got tuna spicy crunchy roll, salmon avocado and shrimp tempura. These were all delicious, too. We wiped out plates clean! The service here was great, too. Everyone wore masks. And again, our food came out quickly. Our server was kind and knowledgeable of the menu and answered any questions we had. Best sushi in central New Jersey!! I've been coming here since their original location down the street. The lunch specials can't be beat. You can choose from 2-3 rolls, a bento box, or hibachi style. All options come with soup and salad. I've both eaten in-person and ordered online for pickup. In person they have you in and out in about 30 minutes. I appreciate the waitresses being fast to fill up waters, get additional silverware and more. Online pickup is fast and reliable as well. Everything is specular here you can't go wrong! As for the sushi, it was good but not great. Their rolls were not creative at all. It was reasonably priced, but every roll was almost the same. I was willing to let that go and to enjoy the night out but felt very rushed. They literally rushed us out the door. They close at 9:30, and we were asked to leave at 9:26. Incredible, delicious, and my new go-to sushi spot hands down. If you have never been here, make plans ASAP. We got sooooo many wonderful rolls and appetizers and everything was absolutely fantastic and so fresh. If you like a fun sushi-esq appetizer like me, try the sushi tiramisu. It has crabmeat, avocado, spicy tuna with a little crunch and has this really nice sweet sauce. I loved it. We also got a seaweed salad appetizer that had a little crabmeat and crunch in it as well. Those were the two big standouts that I would wholeheartedly recommend. For rolls, the tuna avocado, spicy salmon, eel avocado and spicy girl roll all were delicious. I always try to add one special roll into the mix to spice it up and the spicy girl was a hit. I really don't think you can go wrong here. All of this incredible food was around $50, which is kind of insane because we got so much. The restaurant is really lovely, our waitresses were all very friendly and no one rushed us at all. They are right on Main St in Somerville, close to the courthouse. It is Somerville, so you'll have to look for parking which is mostly metered, but after a bit of a hunt I always find something. During an evening of DoorDashing, I came across Sushi Yokohama and so on another night, I decided to order from here to give it a try. Definitely will be back. We got some sweet potato rolls, a philly roll, shrimp tempura, and a specialty roll. Ordered it to-go and it was spot on, packaged great and ready to eat as soon as we got home with all the fixins (chopsticks, sauce, etc.) If you dine-in, the place is BYOB, so definitely bring a bottle! I love how the menu has unique types of sushi, I love trying new things so I appreciate the variety. The staff is always friendly and helpful, we never have to wait when we are picking up our order. Sushi Yokohama is just so consistently good! We've gotten takeout from here twice already since moving the to area and I am very impressed with the quality of the food. Their party platters are really a great deal, I would highly recommend looking into those if you have a group of 6 or more. It ends up being less than $10 per roll which is awesome for the specialty rolls. I also like it because you don't have to decide on which rolls to get, you get a nice variety from the menu. Not only is value incredible here but the quality (while it's not 5 Star Omakase) is substantial enough to earn my consistent patronage. They should consider getting some air conditioning for the customers to feel comfortable. Customer service: The people here are nice and are very patient while we decided on what we had wanted. Yaki Soba: This was not what I had expected from a yaki soba. The soba noodles were mushy as if it was cooked too long. Carrots were a bit hard as if it was under cooked. The beef was cooked perfectly but lacked a lot of flavor. Miso soup: It tastes like any other miso soup from any other restaurant. This place is located in the downtown of Somerville. The interior is nice and it's a decent size place. It gets busy on some nights so it's always best to call in for a reservation if you're going in the evening. We ordered 3 special rolls and 3 basic rolls. I think sweet heart rolls and the Yokohama rolls were my favourite ones today but to be honest all of them are good. The prices are decent too and you are getting really good food.
