I ordered from this place by accident but to give them the benefit of the doubt instead of canceling I kept my order. $3+tax for Sriracha, the rolls are really low quality, and the woman that was there had a poor attitude. There are better places down the street, highly recommend going somewhere else, I'm not surprise the place was completely empty.

This great little spot has amazing food and service! First time trying, and will definitely return to try other rolls and food options! I recommend this spot for delicious rolls and Japanese food.

Loved this place! I ordered the chicken & beef teriyaki combo with tempura, and it was delicious. We also ordered a couple of roles off the value menu and they were solid. The owner was very kind, and we hit it off with her. 100% would come again!!

Second visit, and probably the last…read more Our first visit about a year ago was excellent -- good enough that I was happy to return expecting a repeat. This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.

It's not very far from Disney, but far enough from the crowds. First, the service was great. They were very nice and attentive. It was pretty slow, but it was Sunday on a holiday weekend. We ordered several sushi rolls and a pork katsu. The flavors were all delicious. The spicy scallops hand roll was great and they didn't hide it under krab or any other fillers. It was a little spicier than I expected and it was delicious. What I most appreciated was I was able to order more rolls for variety because an order was 4 pieces. The price reflected the amount and so you really could try different rolls and not pay $15-20 for each. The restaurant was cozy and tastefully decorated. They still have a sushi bar, which I always love as an option. We will definitely keep this place on the list when we are in the area.

The service was great, and it was quiet since it's a Monday at 4pm. The location is small and cozy. I liked that the rolls were 4 pieces since that meant we could try more than usual. The rolls were good, rolls are usually hit or miss with me since they're normally too saucy. The 3 we got were good and had diff flavors (sexy Hawaiian, monster roll, and unagi xo). My 5 star goes to the yellowtail jala, omg it was SO GOOD and the yellowtail just melted in my mouth. We ended up ordering another one and I could honestly just eat this all day. I can't wait to have it again. I also got the bluefin tuba nigiri and that also melted in my mouth. The quality of the fish reminded me of having sushi in Japan. I can't wait to go back and get the nigiri's and the yellowtail jala!

Caliente is my daughter's absolute favorite. She will order this plate every single time we go. Sunkist ($16) Double Albacore ($16) Popcorn crawfish ($8). All were excellent except Popcorn Crawfish (mostly just the fried batters) After we finished our food, the birthday celebration begins. Light was dimmed, up beats birthday song on the speaker. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. They also offer a happy hour in the dining room only - does not include the teppanyaki grill area. Truly one of our favorite places!!

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, and this place easily ranks in my Top 3. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I have to admit, I'm usually not a fan of tuna. But the moment I tasted the tuna here, I thought, "Have I been eating fake tuna all my life?" It was that good--clean, rich, buttery, and unlike anything I've had before. Another pleasant surprise was the California roll. I've eaten countless California rolls, but this was the first time I had one made with real crab instead of imitation crab. The difference was incredible, and I was genuinely impressed. The restaurant itself is stunning. The interior design is elegant and thoughtfully done. What I initially thought was wallpaper turned out to be artwork by a renowned art director, which made me appreciate the space even more. And the fish-shaped light fixtures hanging from the ceiling are absolutely beautiful. Finding a truly outstanding sushi restaurant that I can keep coming back to is rare, and I'm so happy I found this place. This is the kind of sushi spot that turns first-time visitors into regulars.
