I went here today with a friend, it's located in the Sawgrass Mills Mall if you're coming from the Target entrance, going past the section with Ben Sherman, Levis, Express (the top stores I go to lol) and what is this sitting almost in the middle of where the Dippin Dots used to be? SUSHIGAMI! For those unfamiliar with the kaiten (conveyer belt) sushi concept, sushi is placed on different colored plates (which represent varying prices) which by way of conveyer belt (duh) move throughout the dining area. You're given a menu and on it is a legend which indicates whether something is spicy, cooked, vegetarian, must be ordered via your waiter/waitress, and what color represents what price...ranging from $3.00-$7.00 The nigiri (sushi) I believe are all two pieces each. I had the squid, yellowtail, and for sashimi I had four pieces of albacore in ponzu sauce. Each had some garnishes like jalapeno, yuzu pickle relish, etc. My friend had a roll 4 pcs, (I forget which), edamame, yellowtail nigiri, inari (fried tofu with what looked like spicy guacamole) nigiri. As for the quality...I think you pay more for the concept and convenience. Not gonna lie, I'm biased because I get free sushi elsewhere and I've had melt in your mouth sushi in NYC. As for a quantity/quality/price evaluation, that's up to you to decide against what other sushi place you normally frequent. Personally, if I had my regular places for sushi, I'd go elsewhere. If I'm in the mall though, I'd go for a quick bite. That said, I like the different garnishes and variations on the sushi/sashimi. The service is quite helpful too. read more

Love it...it's great for short attention spans, instant gratification, small tastes of different types of sushi, and of course, people watching. The plates are color coded, for $3-7 per plate, 4 pieces of sushi per plate. I did start getting a complex though, when the plates started to stack up and people started staring. The high volume of people on a weekend at Sushigami is key...I wouldn't want to get conveyor belt sushi otherwise. Went to Sawgrass mall last weekend for a quick shopping fix and saw this funky cool sushi place right in the middle of the mall. It's all stark white, modern booths and the place was pretty crowded so we had to try it. We've never eaten at a Sushi restaurant with the little conveyer belts going around and it was so cool! No waiting for a chef to make what you want, you can just grab and eat! The plates have different colored rims which indicate the prices so it's pretty much fool proof and it was really yummy! The plates ranged from about $3 for a basic 4 piece roll to $8 for a more gourmet one. It was really cool! The one thing I will say is that since you are sitting basically in the middle of the mall with shoppers walking by at all times, be prepared to be stared at. Don't get self-concious when you drop that roll off your chopsticks because 50 people just saw it! :) All joking aside, it was a cool experience. We went with our 8 month old son and it was great because you could get in and out quickly. We will definitely be back! read more

I've never been to a place like this before, so trying something out like a conveyor belt sushi bar is new to me. This place is not over priced like a lot of people are saying. The most expensive are large portions of four pieces of sushi/roll that are topped to the highest point of the cover that is placed on top of the plate. But of course, since it's in a mall of all places DO NOT expect authentic Japanese/Chinese/Thai cuisine. Like... It's a mall... It's not gonna provide authentic cuisine of any sorts. So do not get your hopes up. $6 for four rolls that are topped highly, making it 1.50 for each piece. Sounds fine to me. It's also very tasty. I love the volcano roll! For the thing about the employees having access to water; they're wrong as well. I'm sitting right where I can see them making the food. There are only three people making the food, and none of them touch anything EXCEPT the food and the machines to make the food. They DO have access to water, and have been seeing the employees switch out gloves and wash hands. The makers are cleanly. They are not contaminating anything here. The service is a little slow, but that's expected since its in the middle of a busy busy BUSY mall. Good thing there are buzzers for service though! Everyone is super friendly, especially if you are friendly to them. I've visited twice in one day, and I don't regret it at all. This place is good. Cute little sushi spot inside Sawgrass Mills Mall. It's right by Forever 21 & It's Sugar. I love that the sushi is prepared and you can pick from a conveyor belt that moves it along past your table. They don't put out most of the rolls or sushi plates, so you have to look through the menu and request the dishes. The sushi is really good and fresh considering it being mall food. However, it's pricey! Prices vary and are indicated by the different colored plates that the sushi is served on. It can add up but still a fun experience. Be sure to try the tuna tataki, masago & you can't leave without getting the Mochi!! The mango and red beam are a must. read more

I came to the sawgrass mall for my periodic shopping and what a surprise was waiting for me in the middle of the mall? sushigami! And I fell in love! I am a big sushi fan and I was curious to see how the concept works, the friendly server told me that their executive chef was the chef of the famous POD restaurant of Stephan Starr (think Morimoto, Buddhakan, etc..), the food was so yummy, the staff was so nice and friendly. Loved it! Took my wife for shopping in Sawgrass mills last week, and since we are both Sushi lovers, we ware very Pleased to see the new addition to the Mall. We was seating very nicely by the nice host, who gave us a short but informed information of how the concept works. We tried variety of Dishes from the Moving belt, that kept bringing us fresh and tasty Sushi and more. We also ordered the Tomato salad that was awesome, and a special made Friend Chicken Roll that was Great as well. the service was nice and professional, and when we ask the shift manager a question he took 10 min of his time to explain us about the company and the Sushi. we also Had a couple of cold Saki and they also served cold beers witch was decent for a nice Shopping day. I really wanted to like this place. With that said the server was good, attentive, and explained everything well. My biggest issue with Sushigami was the fact that they have no system in place to know how long the food has been on the conveyor belt. They also had sushi prepared and stacked up behind the conveyor belt that was there for an unknown period of time. In the hour and a half we were there I never saw one roll prepared and placed on the conveyor belt nor did I see the "chefs" remove any of the old food. I order the Chirashi Rice Bowl off the menu. It was meh, the fish was cut into extremely large pieces making it difficult to eat the fish with the rice or anything else and the avocado was not ripe. And now that I look at the menu description I notice that it was missing sweet potato and sweet fried tofu. It was pricey but I expected that so that was no big surprise. The one thing that I ate off the conveyor belt was spicy tuna in a wonton taco shell. The tuna was good but the wonton taco shell was extremely soggy and had no crunch whatsoever which made me worried that it had probably been sitting out for a long while. read more

There were big gaps in the space between items because so many choices were completely bare. Not sure why when there were 5 staff behind the sushi station. Also, be prepared for a hefty bill. It was $60.00 without tip for 2. There's only 4 pieces per little plate and most we had were $8.00 each. The volcano roll is delicious though. They're totally stingy with the iced tea. How much could it possibly cost them to make the unsweetened green tea and they can't even give you a free refill? They're greedy. Think about it! This place is located in the middle of a mall. There is no running water and these employees have no access to water to wash their hands! I went to this restaurant the other day. It was just convenient since I was at the Sawgrass. First, the waitress asked me what I wanted to drink. I responded water. She brought me a bottled water which I had to pay for $2.50. I didn't mind paying... But, she should have asked if I still wanted. The gyoza was deep fried. In their menu, the gyoza looked like pan fried of even steamed, I asked the waitress "Are these deep fried?" Because if I knew they will serve me the deep fried gyoza, I didn't order it. She said "this is what we have!" and turned around. They do not want to hear your complain. They just put things on your table and turn around! The service is terrible! We also ordered udon. I don't understand how somebody even can make udon so terribly! I am Japanese... and this place makes us look bad. These are not authentic Japanese food. The waitress checked up on us once...asking how we are doing. I was kind of making my face trying to show her I was not happy. But, of course, she didn't care. She didn't want to talk to me. If you order from the menu you will get a nice fresh sushi, anyways the sushi that comes to you is not that fresh but it is very good as well. Nice experience, something different to try. Before you ask yourself if I am unreasonable please look at this place and look for running water for the customers/employees to wash their hands. For someplace that is in a very busy location inside the mall and where they don't automatically put in a tip, they are quite inattentive. The buttons seam not to work and the servers and management don't look people In the eyes. It's service 101, keep eye contact and continuously scan your area for peoples indications that they need something. It happens every time we come here. The various selection of sushi goes around and you just grab the one you would like to eat, there's some that must order separately. Each plate has a different color, the color symbolizes the price you will be paying. I have two complaints, one is, that even though the fish tasted good, the avocado was clearly already turning and brown. Also they don't put their whole menu on the turn table. They only had like 5 different sushis rotating around, and of course they are the more expensive ones. They are willing to make it for you, but it defeats the whole purpose of shopping and dining on the go. I'd like to see more options rotating around. Sushigami is an okay place to have sushi, but it's definitely not a destination. And while it's neat that it's in the middle of the mall, it's also a bit concerning to me because raw rolls especially need proper handle and care. That being said, I tried two kinds of their cooked rolls (2 plates), and though I was told it was freshly made because it wasn't on the conveyor belt, they weren't even luke warm. The rolls were okay, but to me, it wasn't much better than what I could get at a fast food Japanese place / in the fridge at the supermarket. Service left a lot to be desired, since it took them a while to notice I wanted help/a drink. Then it took them a while to figure out that they promised me my check. (No offense, but this is self service--there are only 2 things you could have messed up on.) With tip, it ran me about $15. It's a little expensive for the quality you receive (because you have to tack on tip for a taste you could have easily gotten from the food court), but it's still in the line of a normal sushi roll. I guess you could try it for the experience, but honestly it's not that novel to have something rotating around you. The only advantage that I really find from dining here is the expediency (no waiting unless it's not on the belt... then a little waiting) and the ability to try more kinds of rolls due to the smaller portion sizes. read more

I give this place 5 stars. The experience is quite unique, you don't see many conveyor belt sushi places around in the USA. It's very much like how you see in Japan! The food was great and I can't wait to go back again. It is fun to watch the sushi go by, and watch the sushi chefs preparing the sushi. I can't cut fish or avocado that thin and fast!
