I order from them regularly through Postmates. Multiple times the orders arrived without chopsticks. My most recent order arrived without the rice bowl, which is very disappointing being cause I ordered it to pair with my sashimi order. When I called to inform them of this oversight, they deflected blame to Postmates instead of apologizing. The woman said, "We don't have any control over delivery". There are some places in Los Angeles where you can buy kosher sushi but only one where you can get fresh and delicious one! I love Sushiko for years! I've been there million times and will definitely come back and bring my big family once they reopen. Family owned place they really care about all their customers and you can feel it and see it through their great customer service and the freshest fish in the market.I usually very busy to post any reviews but after today's order I feel that I have to.I would love to say thank you to the whole Sushiko team for the great work they do these hard days.Im very happy that they do Togo orders and I have no issues to set up family dinners with their help.Today I placed my order last minute but they were able to make it on time. I usually like to write reviews for restaurants I enjoy eating at. But tonight I had a petty experience that just ticked me off enough to reach out on yelp. I ordered quite a sizable pickup order and when the person packing my order asked if I wanted any sauces or things, I noticed little containers of the tempura flake crunches, so I asked her to put that in bag. she picked it up and said that they charge extra for that--the little tiny container of crunchies--that is ridiculous!!! What she should have done was say to me, I will give it to you this time, but please note that we charge extra for them and next time we will have to charge. Next time we want sushi I will make an effort to go to another restaurant that values me as a customer and understands that the ten cents those crunchies cost (or less) is not worth losing a customer that eats most meals out. My experience at Sushiko was terrible and I will not come back for any reason. The customer service was absolutely ridiculous and no one seems to have patience. During this pandemic and with only outdoor seating, there wasn't even one heat lamp, making it very uncomfortable to sit and enjoy dinner. Instead of sitting outdoors and enjoy the somewhat normal life again during these times, the food came packed in to-go bags and the sense was that they would prefer us to leave then stay. We ordered tea that came in a foam cup, and smelled like plastic, and was very pricey. I don't recommend to anyone during this time. read more

Since the Corona began I eat their food at least once a week and tonight I made order by phone for pickup they're really disappointed me, the girl on phone was impatient and when I asked for my total she told me 53$ but when I came to pickup my food it was 61$ so I looked at the recipe and I realized that they charged me more for something without letting me know plus I asked for sample roll with spicey tuna and asparagus so they charged me 15$ for a roll that have a lot ingredients inside, took out everything leave only the spicey tuna and then charged me extra for asparagus and when I asked to talk with the manager they told me that she's there only in the mornings so I took the food cause I was hungry but definitely with that customer service I wont come back read more

Service is horrible. Asked the guy for tea with lemon and honey three times and never got it, just a warm half full cup of water. We waited for a while and finally walked up and asked if our food was ready.. it was just sitting on the counter. Then we start eating and there is bones in the Hawaiian roll. We tell the guy and he says "are you sure" then brings it to the chefs as they all just stare over not doing anything about it. Also, all of the employees including the manager was in such a rush to close the place down and continuously reminded us that they were closing the register soon...they close at 11, this was starting at 10:20pm...also, when the manager let us know she was closing the register (again after several times wayyy before closing time) she then looked at one of the employees and laughed as if "yeah I told them ha" so they thought it was funny, like making a mockery of us. The rules of Kosher dining mostly involve lowering expectations, exceptions may apply: 1) Do not expect service to be: decent, good, excellent, courteous, timely, friendly, or in English. 2) Do not expect prices to be reasonable or fair...in fact, expect to be overcharged and mad at the world. 3) Do not expect decor...at all. BUT, Sushi-ko, near Pico and Rexford in the same center as Elat Burger, is an exception in kosher dining. The decor is modern, clean, and dare I say, (yes - I do dare, and I kinda hate when people say that) innovative. Cameras look down on two sushi stations showing your order and others' being prepared on two large flat screen televisions. One wall is covered in attractive river stones, another painted to look like a forest...kinda cool. The prices are not ridiculous, about what I would expect to pay at most mid-level sushi places, about $10 for a house roll. Appetizers $6, etc. I find this rather astonishing for a kosher place with their legions of indentured customers without any other options. Many restaurants of this ilk can and do get away with highway robbery. The food is solid. Good sushi, good sashimi, good all around. TO be fair, my standards are very high: Hama in Little Tokyo, Miru#### in the BH, Yoshi in WeHo, and Matsuhisa are all superior - no doubt in my mind. That said, I recommend trying the yellowtail sashimi, their best item that I tried, and spicy tuna roll: traditional with radish tops and actually a bit spicy...nice. The "wasabi-action roll" (honey mustard sauce on CA roll topped with salmon and tuna) was nice - tasty...fine. The fish was rather good at least. The crispy rice with spicy tuna on top (named something ridiculous) could have benefited from crispy rice and more spicy tuna. But, no one can top this dish at Sushiya in Rancho Palos Verdes - I make no excuses for my high standards. Skip the whitefish tempura roll, everyone in the tri-street area tries to make this Crazy Fish classic and fails despite Crazy Fish's recent decline into mediocrity (come on guys, don't save money on food cost, just charge us a bit more) Service was meh-tastic. Great for a kosher place, fine for the rest of us. Some points: Warm rice (++) Radish tops (++) Good fish (+++) Good Decor (++) Decent service with stoned waiter (+) Freebies: sunomono yum and eggplant fried cheat wedges yum. I go to Shushi Ko very often with my wife. They seem to always have fresh fish but the sushi is made to par. It falls apart a lot and not made with much love at all. They have a weird mix of things, like they have french fries which I don't understand what are french fries doing in the menu of a sushi place. The best there is for fast food kosher sushi in West LA. A few things to keep in mind when ordering... 1. Make sure you ask for "easy rice" for all your cut rolls, they use more rice than necessary. 2. Of you like spicy rolls, ask for "extra spicy", the regular dose of spice is just not enough. I'm always up for trying a kosher sushi joint, but usually go in with moderate expectations. Certain things are usually true: crowded tables, harried waitstaff, and spicy tuna that is not remotely spicy. At Sushiko, I definitely needed more wasabi for my spicy tuna, and the waitstaff was very nice, but very small. There were two waitresses for the entire restaurant, which was larger and better decorated than expected. The food was not quite right in a number of ways: our edamame was really overcooked, to the point that the ends of the pods frayed and expelled the soybeans. I ordered a spicy tuna roll (covered above), and a California roll, which was also kind of bland. As soon as the roll hit soy sauce, about half of the pieces unraveled or lost their rice. And we waited at least ten minutes for our wasabi and ginger to arrive (on a separate plate from the sushi, which arrived fairly quickly). Friendly place, but needs more waiters, and to step up the authenticity of the flavor of the rolls, which should be doable in a kosher context. I'll go back sometime and try the special rolls (maybe when I'm with someone special who can assist in splitting the bill). But next time I have a craving for sushi, I'm probably going to try somewhere else first. read more

Called the restaurant to order 3 rolls of sushi and was quoted 13 something. When I arrived at the restaurant the staff member wanted to charge me 30 something! After bringing this discrepancy up (I understood that I had misheard over the phone) the manager came over and instead of cordially resolving the situation told me he can take one roll out and throw it in the garbage to my food a little cheaper. And condescendingly insisted I read the menu instead of trust the price quoted by their staff. I'm a little torn over this review because I enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but I was displeased with the service. I came in on a Thursday evening and was greeted by a young man with earrings. He greeted me with a "How are you?" which, over the din of those dining, I heard as "Table or bar?" Let me take a moment to point out that "How are you?" is perhaps a good way to greet an old friend, but not a proper way to greet patrons to your restaurant. More appropriate would have been "Hi! Welcome to Sushiko. Where would you like to be seated?" or something of that nature. Anyway, I replied "Bar" and he looked confused. Then I said, "Wait, what did you just ask me?" and he replied "I asked 'How are you?'" and I replied, "I'm well, thank God. I'll sit at the bar please." Awkward. So sat down with the menu. The dude didn't come back for a while, to the point that one of the other servers saw me and she asked if I would like something to drink, and I said water will do, and then she asked if anyone had taken my order yet and I said no, so she took it. I ordered a vegetable tempura appetizer, salmon sashimi, and a wasabi action roll. I specified that the tempura would be the "appetizer." Unfortunately, when the food came, it came all at once (I thought appetizers came before main courses), so I had all these dishes crammed in my little space at the bar. Despite that, I was very pleased with the tempura and the salmon sashimi. I agree with the other Yelp! reviewer who pointed out the small portions of wasabi. It was a rather baby-sized portion and I had to ask for more. The dude with earrings came back by at some point to check on me, simply asking "Is everything alright" and I said yes, but I would like more water please (my water glass was visibly empty, any competent server should be able to notice that). He went to get more water, without clearing the waste visibly building up around me (the chopstick wrapper, the plastic straw wrapper, one or two empty plates, etc). Instead of bringing a pitcher of water and refilling my glass, he brought me a second glass with a new straw. So now I added a whole new straw which I wasn't going to use and an empty drinking glass to the pile of waste around me, which he didn't seem bothered by. So at this point I'm just thinking about how he's going to be lucky to get even a 10% tip out of me, and how I'm going to write a Yelp! review because this is all kind of incredulous. Anyway, the girl brought me my check in the end and so my heart softened a little bit because I couldn't blame her for the dude's shortcomings, and I thought maybe the tip would go to her, so I left a 15% tip. I would go back, and in fact, I will go back, because this is what we have to put up with in kosher establishments in LA. Better to have this than no kosher sushi at all, but give me a break. The service here sucks. Never once did anyone check in on me. The sushi was served without any ginger and wasabi (I had to ask for it 3 times). I asked if they have dynamite and he said yes sure and asked if I want ginger and wasabi with it. I thought that was weird. I said yes but they never brought it anyhow. Sure enough the dynamite came out and it was not dynamite but rather a dynamite roll. And when I tried explaining to them what dynamite is, they couldn't even comprehend. Ugh so frustrating. Turns out this place doesn't serve any of the stuff Jews don't eat (scallops, shrimp, etc). But they should at least know to tell a patron, hey we don't HAVE dynamite. I have worked in customer service and in the restaurant business so I really, truly try not to give one star reviews -- but EVERYTHING about my experience was terrible. First off, we were the ONLY people in the restaurant -- two of us around 4pm on a Thursday. There were at LEAST five visible staff members. It took nearly ten minutes just to be greeted by anyone -- and this was only after my husband WHISTLED when attempts to wave someone down didn't work. We were literally COMPLETELY ignored while the staff had personal conversations. Then the waitress who came to take our order did not know what types of beverages were available -- maybe she was new, I'll try to give her the benefit of the doubt. When she took our food order, my husband mentioned that she should write it down but she told him with kind of a snooty attitude that she didn't need to. Turns out, she absolutely needed to. EVERY SINGLE ITEM was incorrect. He asked for no tuna in his roll. There was tuna. I asked for soy paper. There was no soy paper. We ordered a third roll with no cucumber -- you guessed it, NO CUCUMBER. We also ordered edamame that NEVER came. It showed up on the bill though -- and when we asked to have it removed the waitress told us just to wait and it would come out ----- uh...no -- that should have been the appetizer but you clearly forgot it and service was atrocious and rude so no offing way are we going to pay for it and wait. Never have I experienced so much attitude and such horrendous service in my life. I've never tried original Japanese sushi, so this review might be a bit inaccurate, but I'm assuming that if you're going here, you keep kosher, and are here because you want some kosher sushi. The only other place I've been to that I can compare this to is Meshuga 4 Sushi, which is sort of just the same thing, but the menus are a bit different. Meshuga has more on the menu, but that doesn't bug me as I only really order one thing at both places, a rice crispy treat. Sushiko is nicer, and I enjoy being able to watch the chefs make the sushi. Meshuga is probably better for parties, as there's more food on the menu, but I majorly prefer Sushiko. I highly recommend this place. read more

This restaurant has gone to the trash. Took my kids out for a fun night of sushi and was sorely disappointed by the quality, presentation and service. NOTHING on the menu is gluten free besides basic rolls... This is LA and it's a kosher restaurant serving the Jewish community- wake up and offer a GF salad at least. The cucumber salad that was GF was literally cucumbers that looked like my 8 year old cut, with some rice vinegar at the bottom of a plastic container...beyond unappetizing. The seaweed salad was $8.50 for about 1/4 of a cup of seaweed served to me on a teeny tiny paper plate. Every item was served on paper and cost the same as when I go to a high end restaurant. The service was absurd, we waited over 30 minutes for my son's second roll to be served that he ordered when we sat down (after it took them 15 minutes to even approach us to ask for our orders). Needless to say we will not be patronizing this dump again. A lot of money in the toilet for a very negative and not classy experience. Truly disappointed. read more

I started eating at SushiKo about 3 years ago when I first came out to LA and I've been there at least once a week since. The staff seems to change every few week but there are a few waiters that have always been there and took care of me 100%! I am only giving this place a 5 stars because Yelp doesn't allow me to give any more. Shneor, Rebecca, Laure and the Chefs have been amazing to me from the start. I have never seen such a good, fun and devoted staff like this group here. As a customer service guy myself, I know how hard it is to please each individual as if they're the only customer around. But these guys (and girls) have it down. When I ask for something I get it, when i ask for a recommendation I get it. If you have me as a loyal customer for so many years then you must be doing something right.
