Tuna nachos; fresh, frisky, and plenty of crayons for the baby boy. Was the art on the walls O'kief-esque? Yes. Very much so. But the udon made up for the nude-on the walls. Kids chicken teriyaki was more than enough for our 18 month-old. Shrimp tempura roll was ok, the rice was just a touch off. Maybe over-starched and over-seasoned? Their twist on the katsu sando was fun, brioche bun with coleslaw. A good meal! Tuna-in for my next review!

Bowls .. I think katsu and the middle one on the menu lol

I truly love it here - everything is so fresh and great. It's a fusion mix of Asian and Latin and I love it.

New spot that's been open approximately 7 months. I come to this plaza for EOS gym and never noticed this wonderful gem! This is an absolute must try!! Cute little sushi restaurant. It's welcoming when you walk in and greeted by smiling faces and then thanked when you leave. Service is top notch also. We were the only customers on a Friday evening around 6:30pm. They did have some takeout orders while we were dining. Please go support this tasty place! We got a variety of rolls: California roll, Dragon roll, spicy tuna roll and the volcano roll. The presentation was awesome! They made the dragon roll look like a dragon with cream cheese eyes. How cute! All the rolls were delicious but my fav was the volcano roll. For dessert, we ordered the Oreo roll to go and devoured that thing once we got home! What a cute and original idea for a dessert at a sushi place. The dessert looked like sushi rolls. It was Oreo outside with frozen fruit and ice cream and was just heaven on a plate! Best dessert I've had in a while. Definitely worth the extra calories lol. But if you're not into sushi, they have other options on the menu. And I'm sure, based on the quality and taste of the sushi that their entrees are fabulous also. Oh, and they have a low carb roll which intrigued me but I was afraid to try due to the description sounding like it was spicy. It's called the Baked temptation roll.

This small, intimate sushi restaurant provides opportunities for a small group or a cozy date night for those who like to venture in Asian cuisine. Although there was only one person to take orders, serve, and clean tables, it was still a pleasant spot. My husband and I enjoyed the sushi nachos, and although he had the sushi rolls while I enjoyed the teriyaki shrimp bowl (didn't enjoy the pickled cucumbers), we left full and content. Definitely a place to enjoy again, but perhaps next time will take out.

This place was fantastic and the service was great. The restaurant is small and cozy, excellent for date night. Our waiter was most helpful on recommendations for the appetizers to get us started and the sushi was spot on. I can't say if ramen was on the menu but it would be nice. I'll definitely be coming back.

Five stars! Amazing! Everything Chef Daniel created has a unique twist that elevates each dish. We tried the sushi nachos, white tuna miso, sashimi, sushi rolls, crispy cakes, tempura fry ice cream, and teriyaki chicken bao buns. Honestly, no complaints. All the fish is imported from Japan and you can taste the superior quality.

Spicy Salmon Roll (no cucumber) & Volcano Roll

Wowie!!! This was my first time here and I'm mad I waited so long to try it. Let's start with the atmosphere- it's a cute little seating area and they play great music. I was the only one in there at the time which is why I wanted to write this review because it deserves to be busting at the seams because of how good it was!!! Now the food (most importantly)- I got a spicy salmon roll (no cucumber) and it was SO good. The salmon was the best I've had at a sushi restaurant ever and you could taste the jalapeño in it which was top notch, very fresh and delicious. I also got the volcano roll which was beautifully presented and equally as tasty. Honestly I wasn't sure about asparagus in sushi and I almost asked for without it but it didn't taste like asparagus just added a little crunch which I enjoyed. Was it a lot of food? YES the rolls both had probably 10 pieces which is wayyy bigger than anywhere else I've been. If you want great sushi, it's a must try!!!

Best sushi in carrollwood. This is a hidden gem. My husband had the steak tacos and he loved it. I had the sake mojito with strawberry.

Sumo Roll, Caterpillar Roll, and Eel Roll - a perfect trifecta!! This place is SO good - very glad they have added themselves to the list of close places in Carrollwood Village

Tuna tataki and roll with mango and avocado (I forget the name but it's super good!)

I absolutely love this cute little sushi cafe. I have been several times and the food is consistently delicious. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant! My favorite tuna tataki ever!!

Excellent sushi. Love the ambiance with the local artist on the walls. Fast and friendly service

She chose this location as it's her "favorite" place to go for sushi. They don't take reservations, but you can do call ahead. Luckily, she got there early and got us a table. They were packed shortly after we arrived -- on an early Saturday night. My husband got a selection of sushi and sashimi -- choosing each by the fish/option he wanted. He said it was very fresh. I started with their kani salad. I'd asked the server how spicy it was and she said "not too". Sadly, it was a bit too peppery for me to totally enjoy. I shared some with my husband. There was a nice mix of cucumber and krab in it. After the salad, I had their lobster roll. It was tempura lobster with lettuce, cucumber, and avocado. On top was some eel sauce. It was very good. My friend had tuna tataki stack. There were three types of caviar (fish eggs) on top of avocado. And then sushi tuna in the middle and a layer of avocado on the bottom. It's her "go to" dish. She said it was delicious. We weren't rushed. We enjoyed our food and some good conversation. But as we realized there were a lot of folks waiting for a table, we decided it was time to leave. I might have even asked about dessert.

I cannot tolerate spice, and a lot of Japanese places that I have previously gone to put so much heat on it that I find it unpleasant. Although the seasoning was good, the portions weren't. The first one that I grabbed was just a bone surrounded by fat. There was not a piece of it that I could chew and swallow. Then the server kept coming by the area every ten seconds to check on everything but when I asked for yum yum sauce, he never came with it. I honestly think he dropped it off to the wrong table. And the Mexican roll that I ordered didn't taste fresh. Both rolls I ordered seemed so bland. Other places I have been to have tasted more flavorful. Don't think I would return.

Then the shrimp tempura roll with eel sauce... the crunch + that sweet glaze combo is everything. And the salmon + yellowtail sashimi? So fresh, so buttery, melt-in-your-mouth good every single time. Warm sake on the side because we're romanticizing dinner, obviously. It's cozy, it's cute, it's consistently good, and it's one of those places I'll always come back to. If you're looking for the American hibachi experience, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is the way to go. I…read morewill jump around a bit with this review as I am returning to writing, but hope that it makes sense as you read it. The restaurant is located conveniently within the Grand Plaza of the Carrollwood area in northern Tampa. The parking spaces in the front does get crowded and full rather quick, however there are plenty of spaces in the back that isn't too far of a walk. The entrance/main door is actually off to the side under the hard structure roofing - you walk through a small section of the outdoor seating patio to get to it. It must be noted that this review and experience is based on the following factors: - The review is written strictly for the American hibachi experience. The restaurant does offer other a la carte options if you don't want the "showmanship" and flair with your dining experience. - A reservation was made through Open Table. I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand. This was purposeful and intentional due to the occasion, and I wanted to make sure we were locked in. I feel that this also made for a smoother seating process as the restaurant had to prepare the table and chef. All in all from arrival to getting seated, we waited no more than 10 minutes after our entire party was present. - There were 12 individuals in our party which also accounted for the prompt seating (I believe you are paired and tetris'd with other guests for smaller parties). 12 is the max that a table can host - anything more will require multiple tables. I want to emphasize at this point how Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is suited for large parties. Most, if not all, the individuals in our party have not had American hibachi for as long as we can remember. We also had children in our party. Taking this all into account, it turned out to be the perfect venue for any type celebratory events (business outings, birthdays, baby showers, etc.) I could not recommend this place enough if you want an "easy winner" to delight the group. Now let's talk about the food and the chef. The quality and taste definitely exceeded our expectations. The food was cooked perfectly and the meats were extremely tender and flavorful. While not the most animated of the chefs there, our particular chef was very attentive to our needs. He ensured that our meal was enjoyable and delicious. Pricing-wise, you're looking at an average cost of $30 to $40 per individual. Overall service was not bad - the most important part was that everyone was welcoming and friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend Kobe Japanese Steakhouse if you are the one planning for a large group!
