These rolls is good to have. We got to enjoy it. I also got the domestic beer and a combination pho. The pho is just average in comparison to the sushi. Our appetizer is takoyaki. More so a *3.5. We randomly discovered this ramen /pho/ and sushi restaurant on a Saturday evening, just before the dinner rush. We were seated promptly, which was a nice start. At first glance, the restaurant seemed quite small--only about seven tables visible on the sushi side. However, midway through our meal, we realized there was a whole other section we hadn't seen, which felt more open and spacious. I do wish we had been seated there, especially with a toddler, rather than being tucked so close to other booths. Service began on a good note with quick order-taking. Interestingly, the server didn't write anything down and opted to memorize our order. Unfortunately, this led to a mix-up with the ramen and our appetizer being forgotten. On the upside, drink refills were fast. However, the food took an unusually long time to arrive, and our toddler's meal came out last--after the adult entrées--which made the wait more challenging. The restaurant was fairly quiet overall, with just a couple of muted TVs playing in the background. While that might be ideal for some, it made our hungry toddler's impatience more noticeable and the wait a bit uncomfortable. As for the food, we tried both the spicy and regular tonkatsu ramen. The broth was flavorful and the meat tender and well-seasoned. That said, the portions were on the smaller side--less noodles and only four pieces of meat--leaving both of us still hungry afterward. My daughter's short rib with rice was decent, but by the time it arrived, she had already eaten some of my ramen and was mostly full. I also wish they offered a children's menu; we had to pay full price for a meal she barely touched, which most family-friendly restaurants usually avoid. Overall, while I appreciated the taste and quality of the ramen, the wait time, portion size, and service hiccups made the dining experience feel underwhelming for the price. Sunday drive to a Christmas farm activity. Afterwards we wanted to see what's restaurant is close by because we were hungry but we wanted a restaurant with a high rated review and Saikyo Kitchen was on top of the list. We were greeted from behind the sushi bar and told to have a set and someone will be with us. We didn't know what to order because I was excited that they serve Vietnamese and Japanese food but nervous at the same time . We just ordered something small. We were there for their happy hour menu. We ordered 5 sushi rolls. I liked eel roll and Mexican roll most. The other 3 spicy fish roll tasted a bit too vinegary. We got takoyaki balls with octopus pieces at the bottom. They were decent. The domestic beer was good price in happy hour. We had a bowl of deluxe pho from regular menu. Wow! We are so excited that we found this spot. It's not often that a restaurant does sushi, ramen and pho to my liking. Their tonkotsu is legit. The pork belly was tender. I walked in today (Sunday) not extremely busy but noticeably short staffed and the waitress after 10minutes of waiting informed me only 3p rolls working; I decided to stay and figure out if the 4.6 stars were true. After I seated myself and another 30minutes I got to order the pho Doc biet/ deluxe; the meat came medium rare not my favorite for sure specially on a noodle, not hot enough for me, and presentation not there I'm being generous to give it 3 out of 10. 3.5 Stars. Since this place is close to work, I decided to scope it out on a weekend to see if it needed to be added into my lunch rotation. Plenty of parking in the strip mall out front, and the restaurant is larger inside than it appears on the outside. I was one of two tables in the place at noon, but my entree took a surprisingly long time to come out. I thought their prices were high for lunch if one wanted sushi (which I did); next time I'll just have ramen or a bahn mi. I ordered the chirashi - basically slices of sashimi over sushi rice. It was served with a really good soup, and a salad beforehand. The chirashi was excellent, even if the pieces of fish were smaller than I am used to. All the fish tasted extremely fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. I loved that they added roe to the rice, instead of just serving it over plain rice. While the food was good, the restaurant was too warm, and service was a bit slow-I think I'll try takeout if I return. read more

They had the main portion of the restaurant closed off... probably not expecting a rush or anything, for Japanese / Vietnamese cuisine on a Sunday night. So I sat in the sushi bar area... kind of reminded me of a old diner for some reason. I ordered Escolar Sashimi as an appetizer. It was presented nicely, and was very fresh and delicious! I thought the pieces were a good bit smaller than my usual sashimi place, but the price was very reasonable... so not counting that as a bad thing. I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork on Vermicelli) as my main course. Decent serving of pork, and very tasty. Nicely grilled. The bowl had a lot of iceberg lettuce (all crunch and no nutrition or flavor). The bowl had a very small amount of basil diced up in the lettuce... that was rather disappointing, normally the abundant addition of fresh herbs really brighten this dish up. There was a adequate amount of rice vermicelli and bean sprouts. There were only like maybe three or four peanuts too... something else I found lacking. Odd thing... the Pickled Carrots and Radish that are normally served with many Vietnamese dishes, were salty... like they were salt brined, instead of the sweet/sour flavor I usually expect. Not sure if they forgot the sugar, or just added too much salt... but not really pleasant. I was considering the Creme Brulee they offer for dessert, and asked the waitress if they make it in house... and she said no. I asked if it was a frozen version that they thaw and torch, and she was very honest it... and said yes. So I passed on it. I am sure it would have been ok... just chose not to. I forgot to ask about the other offerings. I will probably go back, to try the Ramen... which I see many good reviews. We will see! read more

Heading home from Ybor City and saw this place. I had seen it before but never stopped. Since I needed dinner and never turn down ramen I thought I would give it a try. It was 5:30pm and the place was not crowded. There was music in the background but not loud or obnoxious. It was such that I thought it was Japanese music but could not be sure. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Tampa Roll. The sushi was to hedge my bet on the ramen in case it was not up to par. I placed a to go order because I needed to get home and do some work around the house. I'm going to pause here while I wait for my order. Well I got home and had the sushi first. The spicy tuna was excellent just the right amount of kick without losing the taste of the tuna. The Tampa Roll was okay not great. I was glad I tried it. Now the ramen was not as spicy as I would have liked it and the amount of meat was small for the price. It was good just not great. There is a small shop up the street from me that is better. I'd seen this place while driving my cat to the vet, and really wanted to try it out, so we did last night The eatery wasn't terribly busy with sit down patrons, maybe 6-8 tables full of customers and a lot of to-go orders, so clearly, they've got a good thing We were sat near a little girl who was alone on her iPad at the back of the place and placed our drink order for tea. We got a flower tea and a green tea, both were good. We perused their menu and ordered a couple of different sushi rolls, including the shrimp tempura, the Kentucky roll and a bagel roll, as well as some sashimi and a pork dish served with rice. There was a bit of wait, but that was fine. The food, when it arrived was delicious! The sushi was fresh and tasty, and I really liked the fried scallions on top of the shrimp tempura roll. So good! The pork dish too, was more flavorful here than at other places, with their seasonings were scrumptious. So.with all that, why not 5 stars? We were sat next to a little girl with an iPad, this would normally NOT be an issue. We understand that sometimes you have to bring your kids to work. Sometimes it can't be helped. That being said, the child had the worst case.of ipad ADHD and kept moving thru their selections, the volume kept increasing until that was the only thing you heard in the eatery. Other customers were looking over in that direction as well. It could have been helped by earphones. I know that I'll grab a few brand new pairs from dollar tree in the future, so I can help the situation, but it really led to people being uncomfortable. The food and menu is excellent. It has such a wide variety of food, it is hard to find pho and sushi at the same spot. The pho was delicious, as well as the banh mi. I would definitely return just for the pho alone. However, I think they didn't have enough employees working. Even though it wasn't crowded, you could tell they were busy. Our server always came and went very quickly. Rushing to put our food down and walk away, never asking how it is or if we need anything. Gave us our check very early, likely to prevent us from ordering anything else. We were the only ones sitting on the entire half of the restaurant, so it seemed odd, like we were being rushed out. 3.5 stars I'd say. This place is not terrible. Food is good & we found the service was adequate. Most items we tried were OK but the fried rice was exceptional. It's hard to get good fried rice in Tampa so will definitely return for this alone. They have a nice Asian beer selection too, served in chilled glass. Restaurant seemed clean & food prepared to order. The parking is a little bit of a pain the way it's designed although there were plenty of spots available. Basically, coming in through the main entrance on Gunn puts you facing the wrong direction on either side so you're better off turning on the side road just after the plaza & coming in through there. read more

Sushi was so disappointing! The specialty rolls are $14+ and the size and amount of fish as an $8 roll anywhere else. The Tokyo roll had the thinnest fish on top and was nothing special. The Black Dragon's shrimp tempura tasted like it came from the Fair. The yellowtail carpaccio was tasty but again, soooo thin. In the local area running some errands and decided to satisfy our growling stomachs. Glad we found this local place for Tonkotsu Ramen. We ordered the following appetizers: California Rolls, Gyoza, Fresh rolls (We chose 2 shrimp and one pork), and Miso soup. Dinner we had: Tonkotsu Ramen and Bun Dak Biet Deluxe. We ordered water and one hot tea for drinks. The Sushi (California roll) was made fresh and tasted good, not extraordinary and the portion was small. We are used to a larger roll. The Gyoza was okay, seemed like it was reheated or from frozen, definitely we've had better. Miso soup was tasty. Now the true disappointment was the Fresh rolls (total 3: 1-Pork, 2- Shrimp), all of them came with an overwhelming amount of shredded lettuce and the protein 2 small shrimp in the shrimp roll and 2 small slivers of pork. The peanut sauce was good, except they added a spicy red pepper sauce to one side (and we are not spicy eating people). Would have been great to know, as we would have requested no spicy sauce in our peanut sauce. The fresh rolls as mentioned were overwhelmingly shredded lettuce with just a tiny bit of protein added. No carrot slices, cucumber, bean sprouts, etc. added as in usual Summer rolls. We were very disappointed with these and recommend you skip them unless you like lettuce rolls, (personally I'd not order this again as it's shredded lettuce with two shrimp and a tiny bit of pork, Overall SKIP THIS! The Bun Dak Biet Deluxe (I requested extra fish sauce and did not get extra), was okay (nothing to exclaim about), but drier than I like. The shrimp were tasty, only 2 average size blackened shrimp were added which was ridiculous. It left me wanting more of the delicious shrimp. Pork was dry, and I did not find normal additions to this dish like cucumbers, Daikon, peanuts. Eggrolls added were good, but again I would have preferred more shrimp and fish sauce. The fish sauce that was provided tasted average, for my taste it was missing more rice vinegar sauce and fish sauce to add a kick of tastiness (it was bland). Now the highlight of the meal was the Tonkotsu Ramen, Wow! This dish was actually one of the best Ramen I've had and will keep us coming back for this dish! The broth is incredible and portion size was perfect, compliments to the chef on this one! As for service: the young server was polite, but inexperienced. He had trouble taking our order, but we did not mind restating our order. The hot tea I wanted was a tea bag in a coffee cup and I was only offered yellow sugar substitute (which I can't use), and I had to return the tea. I was charged and had to request it to be removed, which I should not have had to. Let me know they only have yellow sugar substitute before and I would not have ordered it. Also disappointed they don't serve authentic tea. Overall we will be back for the amazing Ramen, but will skip the rest we ordered. We will try some of the other Ramen. The restaurant was clean, and appeared to have a big take-out business as we observed many people coming to pick up take-out. A really charming little sushi/viet place! I was really impressed by the size of the menu here, Saikyo has pretty much all my favorite Japanese and Vietnamese foods. I ended up ordering their Chirashi which comes with Miso soup and a salad. The salad dressing was great, usually it's always a very hit or miss at all the Japanese places I visit, but this one was nice and refreshing, not too sweet either. The miso soup also really hit the spot, as the day I came was super cold and rainy. The Chirashi was super generous with the fish, and I appreciated the more unique selection with slices of octopus and escolar. Everything was deliciously tender and fresh. Inside the restaurant, it's really cozy with warm, moody lighting. Staff was friendly and super quick to bring food out. Located right next door to Bru in a small strip plaza off Gunn Hwy. Family owned and a Japanese Vietnamese fusion restaurant offering anything from sushi, ramen, pho and rice dishes. They have plenty of seating and even a larger room for accommodating larger parties. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, very attentive. I ordered the Tampa and Mexican rolls with a side of spicy Mayo. Hubs ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and daughter ordered the chicken fried rice. All dishes were delicious! Just mediocre is how I would describe my visit. We ordered 2 appetizers which came after 2 out of 3 entrees. The sushi was the slowest to arrive which took about 30 minutes after ordering (and the restaurant wasn't even that busy at 5:30). Initially I was going to order a Vietnamese noodle dish but they ran out all these ingredients for it so I got the spicy ramen. Don't recommend the ramen here. It's mushy without any chewiness. My husband got some pho but he said it wasn't very flavorful and my daughter got sushi which was very basic. The wait staff is nice but not experienced. read more

Tonkotsu Ramen - consists of a rich and flavorful broth, cooked ramen wheat noodles ( Al dente) and slices of roasted or braised pork belly along with soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, seaweed, mushrooms (not sure what kind) and scallions. This warm soup was a good choice for the first time in a long time and it was delicious with all the ingredients you could eat in it. Very filling! The courteous waitress recommended the Rainbow Roll and it did not disappoint. The Tuna, Salmon and yellowtail were all fresh tasting and this roll pretty much filled me up. They serve Nigori Saki and House saki either cold or warm. A new venue in Keystone/Odessa catering to your Japanese / Vietnamese cuisine desires. So get your Sushi, Pho or Ramen on!! The Ambiance was relaxing but it was a little too hot for my comfort although, I know ,it was about 93 degrees outside today but ya know, it would be nice to have it a little cooler inside or a second glass of cold water(refill). This was my first time to this restaurant located in at the The Village Shoppe on Gunn Hwy in Odessa, FL. The menu has items I've never seen on other Asian menus at other restaurants. They have several specialty items which seems they created. There was a woman sitting at a nearby table hand rolling fresh egg rolls. I saw so many choices I wanted to try out. Hey, it's what I do when I visit for the first time! Except this place had sooo many, I just have to "eeany-meany" my choices and then come back another time to try something new. They offer Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean style foods. What I loved was there were Japanese sushi rolls that didn't have rice around it or in it. Some were wrapped in cucumber. Nice! I have to watch and minimize the rice intake. Too much carb not good for me. What was not on the menu at this time are the desserts. Oh my! My husband could see the dessert case and mentioned it. I wasn't planning to have dessert, but after our server told me the selections....well, I decided on the Japanese Cheesecake and the Blueberry Mouse. They were both very good, light and airy and not overly sweet. Just the way I like it. The cheesecake seemed to have more of a sponge cake texture and yet it was cheesecake. It was delicious. The food presentation was exceptional and everything on the plate was edible. I even ate the mixed greens off the Lollipop and Summer plates. The lemony liquid (vinaigrette) on the plate made a perfect "dressing" for the greens. Also there is a sign in front that they are applying for a alcoholic license, so I guess beer and wine will soon be added to their selections too. Ok so they took over the old KC Cafe so was cautious about what to expect. Well they did a nice job setting up the place and I was pleasantly surprised. The old lunch counter is now where they make the sushi. The side that was always being toted as the expansion area is a dining area for Saikyo Kitchen. They were busy for a Wednesday which is a good sign that they have good food. So we ordered several rolls, cooked for me and raw for the rest of the table. Mexican and Tampa rolls were delish. I don't remember what my wife ordered but I think it was raw tuna or salmon. She also loved the rolls and gave it 2 thumbs up which translates to 5 stars. The prices are on par with other higher quality sushi restaurants in the area. Now for the cons... they were a little short staffed but it really did not impact the service too much. Saikyo Kitchen has been open for 2 months (at the time of this review). Located at a smaller shopping plaza nestled next to a neighborhood micro brewery and other stores. The menu includes Sushi, Ramen, Pho, Bahn Mi, and other appetizers that seem Japanese influenced. The interior is clean, tastefully decorated and has plenty of seating; including sushi bar, booths, high top window side bar tables, and tables. Saikyo seems to cater to a wide variety of customer taste buds. I went on a Thursday for dinner and they seem very quiet with two myself and another party of customers. K-Pop background music was constant but low in volume without overwhelming the auditory senses. The service staff was courteous but not very helpful nor did they show a sense of pride of their food. I tried two sushi rolls from their special sushi roll selections. The Centipede Roll - spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with seared tuna, avocado, sesame oil, sriracha was attractive to look at unfortunately didn't taste the freshest to me. The second Tokyo Roll - tuna, salmon, avocado, cucumber, topped with salmon and tuna, was also presented well but lacked that umami for rolls like these to differentiate it from other generic tasting rolls. The chicken fried rice (with addition of kimchi by request) is made with chicken cooked with egg, peas, carrots and onion. This dish came out luke warm and lacked the freshly prepared taste. In all this dish lacked any wow factor. This is an OK neighborhood restaurant for sushi and other Japanese dishes in a pinch. Although it seemed odd to see Bahn Mi and few other menu items, to me, doesn't seem to fit the overall cuisine style Saikyo is trying to go for. There is a better offering for the same type of cuisine (sushi and thai fusion cuisine) just a few miles south from this place. Went for a quick lunch and got the spicy miso Raman. It was delicious. It had a lot of flavor and was cooked perfectly. I also had the house salad. The dressing was a fresh ginger dressing. It was also very delicious. I highly recommend and will be visiting this place again soon. read more
