We came to try this place out bc we were interested in the concept of Mexican sushi. My expectations weren't that high, but I still ended up disappointed. We hoped to get a taste of both sides of the fusion, but the sushi rolls did not really have a strong identity and were ultimately confusing. We were on the hunt for a new sushi spot and stumbled upon Sushinaloa. The fact that they serve tacos too sealed the deal for us. A quick note: the entrance isn't on El Camino, so it might seem closed at first glance. Just walk around the parking lot to find the front doors. We sampled the Spicy Tuna, which is chopped tuna mixed with a spicy sauce and garnished with sesame seeds or scallions, and the Divorciado Roll, featuring shrimp and asada. Both rolls were bursting with flavor, with fresh fish and well-crafted rolls--no complaints whatsoever. Of course, we also had to try the carne asada tacos. They were fantastic--not greasy like some other places--with delicious homemade tortillas. To wash it all down, we ordered the Yuppie Margarita and the Guava Margarita, both of which were delightful. The service was great, very friendly, and the ambiance was relaxed, clean, and open with a nice bar vibe. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. So I came In here because my husband wanted some sushi estilo mexicano. And I suggested this place. It's a typical mariiscos vibe with A/C! It was amazing. Place was super nice, live plants and music playing. I was greeted by a fabulous diva with long pretty black hair told us we could sit anywhere. Total trepidation with trying anything that dares call itself a sushi restaurant. As a former Tokyo resident, It's bad enough as it is to see Americanized sushi rolls everywhere. I had ordered takeout out of concern for parking and ambiance but upon arrival found easy street parking and found it to be rather busy for 5:30 on a Friday. The bar was full and as were several of the booths. Online ordering on their website was easy. Sweet lady at the front, I'm assuming is an owner, was very kind and appreciative of my patronage. I got the Divorciado sushi roll, the portion for which was huge, but saw the ceviche Tostada Perrona which looked really appetizing, so I got that as well. I was very disappointed about this place had high hopes that it would be good. Let's start with the drinks I started with a Margarita which was more like a lemonade moved to another drink that was recommended by the waiter and it was just a glass full of sugar water no alcohol at all. The ceviche was ok was missing some flavor but was spicy which I love. The service for a Wednesday was horrible only 3 tables were being used and the 2 waiters were never around to help. All the sushi rolls had interesting combinations that you wouldn't think would go together but they do! They are not by any means traditional sushi rolls - most are all fried and have cream cheese. What a hidden gem! I always frequent the Costco across the street but have never noticed this place before! Sushi also has great outdoor seating and live music/band inside, it felt like I was at a family party! My girlfriend and I came by around 6:30 on a Thursday and the place was pretty empty. We ordered drinks first (the barrilito- tequila, squirt, lemon and orange juice) and I guess I missed the size on the menu because when it came our mouths both dropped. It came in a whopping 1L barrel cup! We definitely could have shared one between the two of us. Food wise we ordered the ceviche mixto, chicharron de pescado, and the divorciado sushi roll. Over all the food was great, drinks were great, and the staff was super friendly and inviting. Food is very very good! The service is terrible, I came in with my husband and his bestfriend along with our 5 month old. We waited to be seated for a while and then when we finally got seated, the server didn't come to us for about an hour before getting menus. We arrived here at 6:30 and still here three hours waiting for our check after our food came two hours of being here. The ambiance is great as well. The food is really good here! We love going with my family. The times that we have gone it has been pretty chill, not too packed. The service is good too, I won't say great because the times that we have been there, they have always messed up on either a drink or plate we ordered. This was our first time at this restaurant and would say the experience was great. My wife and I shared a cooked shrimp ceviche plate and a raw fish ceviche plate. They were both tasty and the price was fair. We showed up on a Saturday and they had a live, very loud, Mexican banda (musical group), luckily they have a separate and bigger area where we could enjoy our food without being in a loud environment. Stopped by after looking up places that serve Mexican sushi in the area. Upon arrival, we were met with stares and no greeting, and it was unclear if we needed to wait to be seated or to find a seat ourselves. After a moment, a server showed us to a booth. Families that arrived after us were immediately offered drinks, whereas we sat for about 30 minutes with no service. I don't want to assume that it was because our demographics didn't fit with the usual clientele, but they weren't keen on ensuring we were able to order. It wasn't until I started to put my coat back on that what I assumed was the manager rushed to take our order. Sushi was good but not worth the price. We paid close to $90 for two rolls, guacamole, one alcoholic drink, and one non-alcoholic drink. I would rather support other sushi or Mexican restaurants where the tab would likely be at least $30 less. The decor and atmosphere of this restaurant also left much to be desired - darkly lit, with a mix of tropical tchotckes and an homage to famous artists. Coldplay and Shakira videos played on large screens for the entire visit. Once we needed to pay, it was also impossible to get a server's attention to get our tab. Again, with the lack of clarity - it was totally unclear whether we needed to wait for a server to hand us the check or pay at a side register by the bar. Overall visit was close to 2 hours. Will not return, and would recommend trying other spots in the area or San Jose. read more

Very interesting fusion concept. I ordered a Venenoso, which was fried and had crab, avocado, and cucumber as the main fillings/toppings. The portion size was about the same as two normal rolls, and the presentation was very nice with a roasted pepper and a carrot and scallion garnish on the side as well as a dipping sauce. The flavor was pretty good, though the rice was a bit too mushy (i.e. the texture was approaching rice cake as opposed to individually distinct grains). This was our first experience and it was amazing. Oscar was our chef and he was incredibly friendly and passionate about his food. The fresh juices they have are absolutely delicious. I am a big fan of sushi especially Mexican sushi & as someone who has tried sushi in Sinaloa, I was not disappointed but also not blown away.
