My favorite local sushi spot. It's a hidden gem in the back of small shopping center in San Dimas. The atmosphere here is wonderful. I love the cherry blossom tree that really makes the small space so cozy. The service is great here. They are attentive in make sure your drinks stay full, dishes are cleared timely, and the sushi keeps coming until you can't eat any more. We've never had a bad meal here and we are regulars! I especially love the many "belly" options - yellowtail, tuna, and salmon. So many options for all budgets. My only complaint is it's small so you have to make a reservation or go early. Amazing ambiance! Now one of my go-to Japanese restaurants in San Dimas. The decoration mixed with the western interior really makes you feel like you're in a hole in the wall restaurant in Japan. Music was a bit loud and could be difficult to hear a conversation when you're with someone, but that's literally it. It's beautiful inside. Came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday a couple of days early since I have work the day of. And I'm sad to be writing this negative review. We arrived at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't busy. We were seated immediately and placed our orders. We ordered three things. We wanted to share the Dine in LA omakase style offerings, and my boyfriend wanted a Sake Don and a handroll for his meal. My boyfriend never got his Sake Don. 45 minutes into our meal, we asked our server what's the status of the food. Either she did not take accountability for forgetting to put the order in, or there was some sort of miscommunication with the kitchen staff.. and 1.5 hours into our meal, we had to tell her to just cancel the order. Waiting 1.5 hours for sliced salmon on a bed of rice is insane- what's even more insane is it never came. He also ordered his handroll and was delivered two in soy wrap- which he did not order as well. Same fillings but different wrap. We were expecting regular nori/ seeweed but was thrown off by the nasty soy wrap they used. As for the Dine in LA omakase meal, the items took SO LONG to come out. We even had to go take a photo of the menu posted by the cashier to see what items we were missing. Which turned out to be the most expensive items that weren't delivered. Sashimi garden and Chef Nigiri Selection. We waited an additional 30 minutes for these items to come out. And literally it's sashimi which shouldn't take long to be prepared and brought out. While we were patient and understanding that sometimes restaurants can be short staffed, we'd appreciate it if we were informed that ahead of time so that we could've either ordered to go or find somewhere else to eat. We were celebrating a birthday and had plans for a dinner + fantastic 4 movie and the dinner experience was SO DISAPPOINTING. To make matters worse, it took so long for them to bring the dessert out (included in our dine in LA meal), that my boyfriend wanted to leave. We felt so neglected as paying customers. It was not worth the money for the horrible experience. Lastly, our table, as well as a few other customers seated alongside the wall on the right side of the restaurant as soon as we entered spent more than half the meal swatting flies. The rice was very good and my husband enjoyed his bento box. I got the baked scallop roll and really enjoyed it. Service was a bit disorganized with them forgetting a drink order and not having all the main dishes for the party out at around the same time (with some hot food served at room temperature), but the servers were very nice but not terribly professional (one was cussing and gossiping with their friends at the other table a lot). The atmosphere was interesting, it's definitely a local spot with limited seating and lots of fun, interesting decorations to look at. The yellowtail jalapeño carpaccio we received looked nothing like what's shown on Yelp. The photo shows a full, composed dish with roe on top and a proper amount of ponzu. What came out was a noticeably smaller portion, no roe at all, and barely any sauce. It felt like a completely watered-down version of the same item. On top of that, the service was poor. We waited a long time for our food while multiple tables that arrived after us were served first. It felt like we were completely overlooked, and barely anyone came by to check in or acknowledge the delay. It's hard not to feel misled when the dish looks so different from what's advertised, and the service doesn't make up for it. If this is how the dish is actually served, the photos should reflect that. Between the inconsistency and the lack of attention, this wasn't a great experience. read more

We went on a Friday evening, and the wait time was about 45 to 50 minutes, which felt pretty standard for the day and time. We started with the chirashi bowl and the unagi don. Both were very refreshing and flavorful. The unagi don did come with a heavier amount of rice compared to the eel, and we would have liked a bit more eel on our bowl as well, but overall it was still enjoyable. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and i got the spice level at mild. It was good, though in hindsight I probably should have gone spicier since I tend to enjoy chili and more heat. The broth was solid, but the tonkotsu itself was a bit less tender than expected. Still, it was a good ramen bowl overall. For the bento box, I chose chicken katsu, a spicy California roll, and shrimp tempura. They accidentally served a shrimp tempura roll instead of plain shrimp tempura, but I did not mind. Everything tasted fine. The chicken katsu was thinner than what I usually prefer, and I would have liked it a bit more meatier, but the bento box as a whole was good. Service was good throughout the visit. The staff answered our questions and checked in when needed. Parking was easy, which is always a plus.
