I have had this place bookmarked for a while now and I finally got to try it out. Sushiya is located in the San Dimas area. Came here for dinner and the service was amazing! I felt like they paid attention to their patrons and asked if we wanted anything else or needed a refill! Their rolls are massive and I think we accidentally ordered too much food but it was all tasty. This is like American-style Sushi so the rolls are thick and have many different options. My favorite item though has to be the salmon collar! They made this perfect. It was nicely fried and juicy on the inside without being dry. Loved every bite of it and was completely stuffed. I like how the inside has cherry blossoms as well, above the tables. It was super cute. read more

Fantastic birthday dinner for my husband this past Friday! We joined the waitlist while heading over and only waited about 15 minutes once we arrived. Our table was perfect--huge thanks to the host for the heads-up on the size! We ordered a variety of dishes, from the oysters shooters with uni to a chilled bottle of sake. Every bite was scrumptious, but the crab fried rice deserves a special shoutout--absolutely delicious! First off, the rice...the BASE of this Asian dish, should never ever be long grain rice, but it was. The rice was flaky and did NOT pair well with the rest of the ingredients. In Asian dishes, rice needs to be medium (or even short) grain, so the rice sticks together, and you can pick up an entire "clump" of rice easily with chopsticks. Don't know if this was a permanent change, or if someone just got the wrong rice, but it really changed the dish, and not in a good way. Secondly, instead of a lightly fried egg that was still slightly runny, it was hard. Like, cooked all the way through hard. And I know it wasn't due to residual heat from the other ingredients, because it was very rubbery, the way overcooked eggs can get. I do hope this was just a one-time thing, and these are not permanent recipe updates, so I will give it another try and decide from there if I will continue to be a customer.

We arrived and were seated immediately. I guess our reservation time at 6:00 pm was early enough to avoid the crowds since there was hardly anyone there yet. FYI, there's a happy hour from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Our server was great, he got us everything we needed and stopped by frequently to check on us. We each ordered a combo, and was so excited to see the "show". I don't know if our chef was new or what, but he was so soft spoken and not very enthusiastic about what he was doing. I couldn't hear anything he was saying and even the train whistle that he blew was so quiet. I clapped and cheered in the beginning to get him going, but he wasn't really engaging, so I was really disappointed. It was so boring. To top that off, our "yakisoba" that came with our meal was linguini noodles. Seriously? Can you get any less authentic? If Panda Express can get Chow Mein noodles in Alaska, you can get yakisoba noodles in SoCal.

I ordered takeout on Friday night and was disappointed to notice that the quality of the sushi has declined. I used to be a fan of Sushiya, and it was one of my top go-to spots in the area. We ordered five items, three of which had avocado on top or outside of the rolls. Unfortunately, the avocado was very brown. While that doesn't necessarily indicate it's bad, it made the rolls look unappetizing. When we picked up our order at 5:30 PM, the staff were quite short and not as friendly as I had experienced in the past. The food in our to-go bag was lopsided, which caused some leakage from one of the containers at the bottom of the bag. As we unpacked our items, we noticed that each container had a layer of grease on the bottom. The restaurant was busy, as expected (which is why we ordered takeout), so I understand that things might have been chaotic. However, overall, it was a disappointing experience. read more

I've visited this restaurant before and never had any issues. On previous visits, I kept it simple with crispy rice and a beer or a specialty roll. Not hard to mess those up, and it was always good. Tonight, I ordered takeout and decided to try something new. Unfortunately, it was a total letdown. The tonkotsu ramen had very little flavor, and the noodles were extremely overcooked. They were more like overcooked spaghetti than ramen. There was only one piece of pork, and it was dry. Definitely not worth the price. The seaweed salad was overly sweet and wasn't able to take more than a couple of bites. On a positive note, the spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious with a great kick of spice. We stopped by Sushiya in San Dimas for Father's Day were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside, and the interior is modern with plenty of seating. The sushi was very fresh, which is always the most important part. Our favorite was the Lemon Blossom Roll, which had great flavor and was definitely the standout. We also ordered the Dragon Roll and Firecracker Roll, and both were excellent. The Spicy Garlic Edamame was another great choice and had just the right amount of garlic and spice. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Overall, a really solid sushi spot with fresh fish, good portions, and a comfortable atmosphere. This place just opened up and let me you something...amazing quality food! This place is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots now. I will be coming back here often. I tried their shrimp crunch roll, crawfish roll, and mango spicy tuna roll and all were amazing! I can't even tell you which one was my favorite because they were all so good. we ordered some appetizers and sushi combo and soda drinks (Ramune) for kids. friendly staffs, quality foods, and good service. cheery blossom and cozy booth for my family of 4. it was very busy night and sushi combo came out little late but totally worth the time. Best sushi in the town, not just fresh but right temperature with no fishy smell. and Ankimo was really good too. Kids loved this place and definitely coming back soon!! read more

I visited Sushiya in San Dimas yesterday, and it did not disappoint! The quality of the fish was top notch.Everything was super flavorful, and the service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend trying the Salmon,Uni e.t.c-- so good! The atmosphere was casual but clean, and the portions were generous for the price. It's a great spot whether you're dining in or taking out. The food is excellent here. Everything we tried we were very pleased with. Not a big sake drinker but the one we purchased was tasty. Of all things to get at a sushi place I tried their french fries and they were great too. Service was top notch and prompt. The ambiance... felt like I was right in Osaka! Great food, fresh and clean! We tried a large variety of dishes to best sample the entire menu. All amazing! But I had 3 servings of the fried tofu, it was nice and crispy outside while very soft and silky inside. We were considering a 4th serving, so good. I plan to come again. One of our favorite restaurants! My best friend and I have been coming here for years, and we've both got our partners hooked too. We usually meet here for a double date about twice a month and it's always so nice! The décor is so pretty, and the food is delicious. Plus, the staff is always so sweet and welcoming.
