Regularly getting cakes here for birthday celebration at the office and so far the different cakes we ordered have never been disappointing. Fluffy and moist sponge cake with decently sweet layers of buttercream. The cake design is mostly simple yet still looking gorgeous. My top 3 so far are probably their Vanilla Celebration Cake, Red Velvet, and Carrot Cake. Their various cupcakes are great options too for easier bites! Have been ordering online and only recently paying a visit to their store and am in love with the color palette for sure as it's giving that Tiffany's vibe. read more

I ordered a Susie's gluten free cake from this location for a friend's birthday and while the cake itself was truly delicious, the overall experience unfortunately left me feeling pretty lukewarm. I preordered the cake, called ahead to confirm everything, and had no issues during the ordering process. Pickup, however, was a different story. The employees I interacted with were very VERY serious and honestly not very friendly. I also had to give my last name three separate times to two different employees, which felt unnecessarily repetitive and a bit awkward for what should have been a very simple pickup. That said, the cake itself was great. The gluten free Susie's cake was moist, flavorful, and the birthday recipient was overjoyed. The inscription was neat, nicely done, and exactly what I requested so no complaints about that. Unfortunately, the price was quite steep for the experience, especially with the unfriendly service. While the product delivered, the overall interaction didn't match the premium pricing in my opinion. Like I mentioned, the recipient loved the cake, which is ultimately what matters most but based on my overall experience, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to order from this location again. The cake itself isn't too sweet but the cream cheese frosting can be overly sweet after a while. Service was quick. The bakery was bright, clean, and smelled great. There is only a small table so it's mostly a spot to pickup and go. I usually prefer the Brentwood location since I find the cake slices are more moist there. This is still a good spot since it's convenient & has more parking. Parking is free in the lot but be wary that some of the spots are tight. I saw someone hit a car in this lot before. read more

SusiCakes has the best cakes, cupcakes and cookies around. They have a bunch in stock and you can order whatever you want. Their ingredients are the best and nothing is every stale. We went to a different one once before and I found them too pricey. With prices going up they are now the same as my local bakery, which I won't use much anymore. These cakes are simply better in everyway. The staff is so happy and nice. They know everything they have and will tell you how long a special order will take and they are always right. The place is just adorable and it is ever so clean. Parking is easy in a huge lot, it is in a strip type mall and parking is only a little hard around 7 pm because of the not so great eatery next door. But they close at 7 pm so you won't have an issue. It is just a happy place to be. You can also get cake by the slice, we will try everyone that way and see which ones will become our go to cake. We just love Susiecakes. This one in Marina Del Rey is my favorite. They have a great selection of fresh cakes, cupcakes and other items. You can special order a cake from them and they get it right the first time and when promised. The service is so nice. I think they are proud of what they are selling. I wish I could bake like this. I can't. The place is so cute and there is a little gift area and you will find some cute things. They also sell cake by the slice and it is so fresh and wonderful. I love them all, but I really love the carrot, chocolate and marble cake. We have now tried them all and you can't go wrong. They will never sell you a stale cake. SusieCakes is one of my absolute favorite dessert spots. They make some of the best cupcakes I have ever had. They are perfectly moist, sweet in the best way, and the frosting is truly divine. Every recipe feels like it has been perfected, and the shop itself has such a cute, cheerful vibe. I am never disappointed when I go. They lose a star for two reasons. First, they close so early that even trying to pick something up after dinner around 7:30 can be impossible. It is such a letdown when you want a treat after a meal and realize they have already closed for the night. Second, their best item, the whoopie pie, is only seasonal. It is incredible and deserves to be offered year-round. Even with those small frustrations, SusieCakes remains one of the best spots for high-quality, delicious baked goods. I called in a last minute order for a red velvet cake to celebrate the Marines 250th birthday. The cake was soooo delicious and they were able to rush my order. The cake needs to be set out approximately 2-3 hours before eating which worked great for us however if you're in a rush perhaps plan ahead. YUCKY!! Yesterday, my husband surprised me with a regular (vanilla and chocolate icing on chocolate) cupcakes, flourless cupcakes, a large cookie, and a piece marble cake. Each and every item was absolutely YUCKY! The only item that I actually finished eating was the cookie; albeit not with any enthusiasm. After one bite, I threw away all the other items. I came into SusieCakes today to order a cake for my sons 6th birthday. Upon entering I met and began speaking with two young ladies behind the counter. One of which was extremely rude, her name was Leslie. It seemed every question I asked was a burden for her, her constant grunting, unusual body language, and constant reiteration of my questions REALLY THREW ME OFF. Throughout, I remained calm, but when she began belittling her coworker right before my eyes, and asked me if I thoroughly asked a question correctly.. I needed to address the matter. I told her her coworker was correct and that the prior question, was indeed what I was asking. But can I just say, regardless of her "answering" my questions, she was FLAT OUT RUDE! It was appalling! Not once did I truly feel treated with respect and to be fair, not a single one of my questions was truly answered by her. After speaking to another sweet girl behind the counter I was given a lot more information. This did however, alter my desire to order his cake and the two dozen cupcakes I had anticipated to order from here. To me, service makes ALL the difference.
