We ordered the marble cake and it was delightful. We also ordered one dozen cupcakes; chocolate, mimosa and champagne. My favorite and most moist was the mimosa. The chocolate cupcakes were average. I purchased a 6 inch cake and one dozen cupcakes and the total came to 97$. So be prepared for sticker shock. It is most definitely quality and great service but you pay for it. I would return. Have had many SusieCakes and my fav is the celebration cake. My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary by getting a small sized celebration cake from the store - we didn't preorder, just walked in and grabbed one they had in the display. Was really disappointed and surprised because it ended up being really dry on the inside, like the cake had been baked multiple days ago. Nothing like the moist cake I remember eating! Super cute shop hidden amongst eatery central on Lake. They offer cupcakes, cake, slices, cookies and whole cakes as well as other goodies like cute candles. The girls are sweet. The packaging and overall aesthetics of the place are magical. But the flavors left something for me to desire. The cakes are dense, and I mean dense. The chocolate was so chocolatey! If you're a huge chocolate fan, you're in luck! The frosting reminds me of jar store bought pillsbury frosting. The real winner was the red velvet! But it didn't blow me away enough to where I'll feel the craving for it at a later time. I'm a cupcake snob since I've tried almost every one you can think of. An extra special thank you to Mandy K., Susie Cakes' Head of Support, for reaching out to me and making addressing my concerns and experience, for your 5 star customer service & for speaking to the stores' managers about misinformation given to customers about how long the cupcakes & cakes last (& never to advise freezing cakes that have been cut in to, as I was advised to do.) I've been a fan of Susie Cakes' cakes and cookies since 2012. I was disappointed that the two seasonal chocolate mint cupcakes I got today, tasted dry & stale (like how their cupcakes taste one day after purchasing.) The frosting tasted fresh but cake part was stale. They bake them fresh daily but Mandy said since they donate whatever is left at the end of the day, The ones I received were likely over-baked. Numerous employees continually claim the cupcakes last 2-3 days but take it from me (and the Corporate Customer Service Rep): they are meant to be enjoyed on the SAME DAY. If you absolutely have to, you can tightly wrap the box with saran wrap to get an extra day out of them, but don't expect them to taste the way they would on day one. Of course, to wrap the box. you would've had to requested they come in a box, which they normally don't if you order two or less, so make sure you ask for a box. I've ordered numerous cupcakes here, where they came in a bag and the cupcakes got all dented, even though I was very careful with the bag. If you request a box, they will at least have more outside protection, but there will only be a thin layer of wax paper separating them, unlike the protective cardboard cutouts of their competitor's cupcake boxes. I'm hoping they consider matching their competitor's boxes soon. I LOVE THEIR CAKES. Just a word of warning: If you are considering buying one of their cakes for just 2 people, even the smaller size cake has huge tall slices, so there's no way you'll be able to finish it in one sitting and since the cake is made without preservatives, it goes hard within a day. They do not recommended putting it in the fridge because it will also get hard so it needs to be eaten same day. I was misled by someone at the bakery on my birthday last year that I could put the remainder of the cake in the freezer. This doesn't work and when I initially posted this review, corporate replied and said their official stance is that you should never freeze their cakes once you've cut into them. I spent $80 on a birthday cake, ended up having to put 80% of it in the freezer since there are only two of us, & when we took it out a few months later (when they claimed it would still be fresh), it tasted terrible so regrettably, even though I LOVE their cakes, since I only have two people in the household, I will have to stick to buying individual pieces. But if you're getting one for a party that can finish the cake in one sitting, they are DELICIOUS and worth every penny! :-) Truly yummy. Don't miss their holiday sugar cookies and gingerbread and December's candy cane cake: my all time fave! read more

Called this place twice today tired to do some business. Sadly they did not want my business. First call I asked the lady if I can pay in advance for my order drive by & if someone can run my order to the car . (The parking is miserable no where to park) . She told me she can't promise anything. Not sure are anyone can be available. I thanked her I said I'll call her back. Second call 20 minutes later same person answered . I asked if I can pay for 8 cupcakes I'll drive by in 10 minutes....offered my CC number. I had the task of getting baked goods for my daughter's 3rd birthday party at her pre-school. I had about 20 toddlers to serve, and other parents had done either a cupcake or cake party. I was hesitant to get baked goods that weren't fresh, and so I had to find a vendor that could provide fresh cupcakes for the specific date. On their website, SusieCakes offers a product called mini-cupcakes. I figured that this would be the right size for the toddlers. I ordered two bouquet box of the mini-cupcakes for the party and picked them up around 10:00 am. I went to pick up my daughter at 5:30 p.m., and there were some mini-cupcakes leftover. Seven-and-a-half-hours later the cupcakes were delightfully sweet and delicious. My wife also didn't get a chance to try one until this time, and she agreed. I wish that I had stuffed one from the box when I left the store. I am pretty certain that I will be ordering these again. Very disappointed. This was what I ordered and what I got. Very ugly green and just not matching the photo. I have seen this cake in the store before and it looked the same, so I'm not sure why I received this lousy design. If I knew this is what I would have gotten, I surely would not have been open to paying $85 for a 6" cake!!!!!! They advertise this cake as 73.99 for a 6", however they charge $4 to choose a flavor other than the only 1 no charge option, then an extra $8 for the outside of the cake to be white, which is what's shown in the photo... We've walked by this place for a long time and we finally stopped in. Now, we probably get something a few times a month. We've tried their carrot cake (a family fave), lemon cake, coconut cake, tropical coconut (my fave), fresh berry (so good), and a few cookies. While we have our favorites, we've really enjoyed everything. Their cakes are flavorful, moist, and the frostings have the perfect amount of sweet. This place is incredibly clean and the staff is so accommodating. They often send us home with complimentary treats to try. When I got home, I noticed that the store decided to add an extra "voluntary" fee to the total bill to pay for the employee's benefits. That should not be an extra fee added to the bill. Either raise your prices to compensate or eat the costs. I am also a small business owner, and I have done both. This type of deceptive action just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. And in response to the owner's claim that the extra fee is "optional". That is very misleading. An "optional" fee would be "hey, your total is $10, do you want to contribute an extra $1 so the owners don't have to dip into their profits to pay for my benefits"? You automatically add the "optional fee" into the total, in hopes that most customers won't catch it. And your "visible signs" are very small and only noticeable after checkout. read more

I was assisted by each woman during my first 2 visits (my most recent was 4/23). They were both so friendly, upbeat and genuinely happy. Both have the same positive attitude. I left feeling like a valued customer. Oh, yeah, and the product is some of the best ever. I have tried the chocolate, vanilla and carrot cakes, all of which were moist and delicious. The buttercream frosting is perfect, just the right amount of sweetness. I used to go to Dot's for cupcakes but no more. I'm a long time customer and couldn't believe my latest experience. I ordered a carrot cake for a birthday and it was pretty lumpy and the words were pretty faint. Keep in mind you pay extra to have an inscription on anything. I was very disappointed and they agreed to fixed it. When they brought it out it looked just as bad. The words happy birthday were incursive, some letters thicker than others, and the person's name was in block print. I'm sorry what? It looked even worse! I was still disappointed and they were happy to let me leave. Before getting to my car I turned around and brought it back. So here I am waiting on a third attempt to fix a pre-ordered cake. I don't mind paying $60+ for a 6 inch cake but it better look right. Keep in mind this wasn't a crazy custom cake. Just a carrot cake with happy birthday on it. What a let down! read more

Parking is at the rear, and it's a paid parking. It happened that I parked across the street at Macy's, which is free. I'm not a fan of apple pie except for this one. The only apple pie that I craved. You need to order it online. The apple crumble pie is so good it's hard to control your appetite. The price is high, but it's worth every penny. The cupcakes and cakes at this location are dry and don't taste the same as other locations. I'm so glad there's a location in the San Gabriel Valley. I use to go to the west side for these cupcakes and cakes. The cupcakes in my opinion better then sprinkles because of two things. I feel the cupcakes a lot more spongy in texture so not as dense and second is the icing is so much more creamy and not as thick and sweet as sprinkles. read more

The cakes here are sooo yummy! They can be a bit pricey but they're about the right sweetness for my taste and well worth it in my opinion. The flavors are subtle yet strong and are different from other places that I've tried! I ordered 4 cupcakes of different flavors: red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry shortcake. I don't usually like red velvet but their cream cheese frosting was so good, as was the strawberry shortcake which didn't have that super artificial strawberry syrup flavor. Picked up a chocolate cake on the 16th of December. Friendly staff. The 9 inch cake can easily serve 20 people. It is so tall a thinner slice will be enough. It was tasty. There are a lot of reviews/ comments about the cake crumb being too dry. Ours seemed like that because it was too cold. The cakes might be frozen by the bakery prior? It takes a Long time to soften then the crumb is moist and delicious. 3 days in the fridge and the cake is still perfect. I was so happy to learn that a Susies opened up near me. I love ordering the celebration cake for everyone's birthdays in my family. It's been a staple in our family since we first had it in SF ten years ago. However, recently my friend introduced me to the carrot cake which is so moist and delicious, that I am torn as to which one is my favorite.
