My Boyfriend and I decided to try this little restaurant out and we were not disappointed! The waitress was a new one and she was the sweetest and answered all of our questions.We both had a soup and a half a sandwich for $9 with a coffee. It was delicious and we both could tell that it was homemade which is so hard to find! The decorations inside were beautifully quaint and i almost felt at home. Was amazed with the food. My wife and I both had BLT's. A friend joined us while we were eating and he ordered breakfast. His food looked great and he really liked it. First time at this cafe and we will definitely be a regular. Depending on where we are for breakfast we have Jimmy's Egg or the Black bear Diner. Elaine the owner was extremely nice to us. My first time dining here. I went with my brother and his wife based upon a recommendation from a family member. It's one of those little tucked away places that you can pass by and not realize that it's there unless you know about it. I rarely give a restaurant a 5 star rating on a first visit unless it absolutely deserves it, and this little hidden gem certainly does. We had a wonderful young lady taking care of us who was knowledgeable about the menu and very patient explaining it to three first time customers. I regret that we didn't get her name, but she was awesome. Our food came out in a timely manner. I ordered a BLT sandwich, and it was delicious! Fresh toppings and some of the best tasting bacon that I've ever had. My company also raved over their selections as well, and there were 3 empty plates when we finished. The owner Elaine, is a delightful lady who took the time between cleaning tables and running orders out, to stop by our table and thank us for stopping by. Something that rarely happens in this day and age, and to me at least indicates an proprietor who truly appreciates her customers. A BIG thumbs up to her. I love supporting local small business owners. And I truly believe that I've found my new breakfast/lunch restaurant of choice. I'd like to go again and try something different to eat. I trued the Monte Cristo sandwich, it was good it had all the right things on it. However I wasn't expecting it to be deep fried like at the fair. Don't get me wrong the bread was so fluffy, the flavor was pretty good, but it was a bit more greasy then I like. We have visited Alexander's many times over the years. More when both of the owners were around and involved. Saturday, 03/04/2022 we spent the day walking, shopping, and having fun in Salado. This Review would have been a 5 Star Review, for our Food and Waitress Until the Manager or Whomever was Out of Line and Very Rude. Around 3:00 to 3:30 we stopped in and have some food, drinks, and share a birthday meal with a Great Friend at Alexander's. The meal was Awesome, our waitress was Amazing, the weather was Perfect, what a Great afternoon until maybe the manager (Not Sure), came outside and said: You all, meaning 6 of us, need to wrap it up and leave in 5 minutes, we have reservations and need your table. Everyone was in shock and the day was less pleasant now. We paid our bill and left with the decision this manager or whomever needs to be talked to by the owner and the owner needs to be informed. This the reason of the review and you should get a few more from reviews from our group. I actually went up to this person at the Hostess Desk, and asked did you really say this to our group, and she said: I said 5 to 10 minutes, what did you want me to say? I said we'll it would have been nice to known we had a time limit, but the bar area upstairs opened at 5:00, you could have asked good paying clients if they would mind being relocated to the bar area and let your clients continue to enjoy and support our local restaurant. I feel this person, manager, whomever took this 5 Star review and turned it into a Zero Review for not caring about customers. We are in a Service World, and she was not Service Friendly. Thanks, J. Stopped by yesterday, Saturday, and didn't have the best experience. The food was ok but the customer service left a bad taste in our mouths. Our waitress seemed as if she'd rather be somewhere else. I kept listening to the other waitress with the black hair and she was outstanding with her customers. She read off the day's specials, greeting them courteously and thanked them for coming. Our waitress did none of those things and we just didn't feel welcome. My son and I got up to go to the bathroom and that is when she decided to come to the table and asked my husband if she could take our order. It's not a big place, we were back in 2 minutes, please kindly wait for guest to come back from the bathroom to take our order. Next, the food came and as my son's grilled cheese sandwich was being placed on the table it was clear to see it was over cooked/borderline burnt bread. I wasn't going to say anything but then it occurred to me to turn it over and sure enough it was burnt. I politely asked someone that came out of the kitchen if it was possible to remake the sandwich. She looked and it and said sure. I felt a bit uneasy asking because the establishment thought it was ok to serve this visibly burnt sandwich to a customer. Based on our experience with the waitress, we are not likely to return. My husband left a good tip in hopes it would cheer her up or perhaps provide better customer service to her next guests. read more

So glad we gave Suzy Q's a try. If you like Monte Christo sandwiches, this one is first-rate! Not greasy and heavy as is often the case, this sandwich is ample and light. The handcut fries were crisp and not soggy like is generally what you find. We got some of the homemade dog treats which our pup loved too! Great service and food. The bacon was such that there wasn't that 'bacon struggle' you find in so many other sandwiches. It was of a perfect thickness & crunch. The chicken was so very moist & of good proportion.
