My inclination is to rate this place lower, but I go here a couple times a month out of convenience, so it can't be that bad, right? The SV car wash ,cheapest is $4 (with coupon) for every wash. It's a VERY shallow wash and doesn't get rid of bird feces, etc., but instead only slightly wears away at it. It does, however, get rid of rain spots or that general dust that exists when you are parked near a tree. So, if you're looking for a superficial car wash, get at this. read more

Cheap, no frills car wash that gets the job done. I like how it is basically 24 hour self-service so you can come by whenever you have a spare moment. I came around 9:30pm at night and the place was deserted. There is a automatic machine in front of the car wash with clear instructions on what to do. You pay by cash (bills or quarters) or by credit card, and after swiping your card/inserting cash into the machine, you choose what kind of car wash you want. They have 3 levels of service priced at $6, $8, and $10. Since my car wasn't very dirty, I went with the cheapest car wash ($6). After selecting the type of car wash, you drive in and sit inside for about 10 minutes while the machine does its work. Overall, I was pretty impressed. My car came out clean, and I definitely thought it was worth the $6 to not have to wash it myself. I was expecting car washes to cost more around the $15 range so I was very happy with the price. The only downside is that there was literally no one there to ask for help in case something happened. I'm not sure if the station is manned during the day but at least having someone around in case of an emergency would be helpful. Also, I've read previous Yelp reviews that you can get $2 off by checking in on Yelp, but I don't think they are doing that anymore - at least, there wasn't any indication of that deal when I went yesterday. read more

I scanned my card twice because the system didn't work the first time. They charged me for two car washes, and I have called them three times to get the second charge removed with no response. Also, I put two dollars in coins in the vacuum expecting to get 20 minutes worth of vacuum time. I got less than 5 minutes worth. Avoid the vacuum, it's a rip off. read more

I visited SV Express Car was on Dec 18 to get my car washed. I was double charged. I contacted the owner, named Vik, by emailing expresswashmountainview@gmail.com to inform him that I was double charged. Despite there being an error on his end, I wanted to give him an opportunity to correct the mistake. He wrote back on Dec 28 acknowledging the mistake but did not issue me a refund for the double charge. It's been over two months and radio silence. This is a business that will steal your money and has no issue with charging you twice the amount of the services advertised. Most expensive option is $12 for a double wash with their premium soap. I'm not usually one to wash my car too often, this time around it was about 13 months of tree sap, dead bugs, and various other oddities you pick up from the road and parking under trees. After the wash, there was still some speckles of sap and other residues. Windows were definitely clean but the ending blow dry doesn't wick up all of the water droplets. Can't really ask for more from a 5 minute drive through car wash, right? To get that five star I'd require at least a way for the car wash to clean my side-view mirrors too. The payment machine is kind of confusing, so I knocked off a star for that. I couldn't get the credit card reader to work, and the machine ate one of my $5 bills, so I definitely ended up overpaying. When I arrived at this car wash it was a little rundown looking but I gave it a try anyway. There were two self-service bays one was broken I used the other. The change machine also broken so I used my credit card. While washing my car the hose leaked I got soaked. Moving on to the vacuum. There are three vacuums, two were obviously broken so I used the third. $2 wasted, it never came on. I tried calling the phone number of course no answer mailbox full. I live near this car wash and have taken my truck here for the self service wash several times. I have a few major gripes regarding the self service wash which warrants this car wash a 1 star. From visiting several times I noticed that the brushes are not cleaned on a regular basis, I attempted to brush soap onto my car for several minutes while I noticed all I was doing was pushing dirt and grease from the dirty brush. The brush was so dirty that I eventually gave up and just hosed down my car with wax since the prewash function did not work. This was my first time at SV Express Car Wash on Old Middlefield in Mtn View. I opt'd for the Ultimate automatic drive through ($12). It was easy since I just had to drive my car to the designated spot and the brushless rotors did their thing. (It goes through twice.) There were no soap spots and it did a good job. You can opt for the vacuum for another $2 more, but I didn't have the coins. I took a towel to dry off some of the spots. I was glad to find a place that was not exorbitant. They are open 24 hours and have both the drive through and the self-service service bays. They take cash and credit cards. I will come back again. read more

Great location, there are no timers or warnings on the wash you get 1.5 minutes for about 3.00 for a wash, I found out it takes 6.00 to wash if you still scrub your car when the first 1.5 minutes goes out, use the existing soap on your car, scrub, and use the other 1.5 minutes to wash your car thoroughly. Otherwise it will cost you 9.00 to wash and scrub your vehicle, which is about 5 minutes, if you are young, fast, or have 2 people at the same time, one washing, or one scrubbing, so it is a lot of work, follow my detailed instructions above, and this will work for all car washes, and will save you hundreds as you wash bi-weekly for the summertime, bring a sponge from the dollar store if you are not sure what to do, and grab a few microfiber towels as well, as there are no towels, wipes, or cleaning solvents here to purchase like a lot of traditional car washes. There is an automatic wash with a dryer if you do not want to wash and dry yourself, for 6.00! It's not touchless.. And you will still need to clean your windows inside, interior of your car, yourself, with your own solvents, go to the dollar store, buy a small carry container 1.00, some window cleaner 1.00, some microfiber towels 2.00 for 4, 1.00 for 2, and a sponge 1.00, upholstery cleaner, spic n span is great if you can find it 1.00 spend 5.00 or 6.00 and you will save over 20.00 each wash over a year that could lead up to 900.00 in washes. This place doesn't maintain their car wash stations. Brush has been broken in one of the stalls for months with a small note right under brush stating that brush is out of service and to use other station. What good does that sign do once you've already put money in at this station rinsed and put soap on your car... Sign should be at payment area so you know if you need the brush not to pay for this station. Also of the 3 vacuums stations only one works. Others are missing hoses and the station that has a hose is worthless. The hose is taped in multiple places so there is no suction. I did have some leftover Christmas tree needles stuck on the folds of the back seats, but that was my bad for not pointing it out earlier, and they were able to vacuum it up quickly. I have liked coming here in the past since it's the only affordable self service wash nearby. However this is the second time I've been where I've been disappointment. The foaming brush was dirty and broken in the second bay, so I had to pay twice to actually get the car washed. I just got home and realized that there are fine scratches all over my car - most likely from the old brushes.
