Our first time at this location and I want to start off by saying that the experience was made complete by our server, Celine. She was an absolute ray of sunshine! She was professional, personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. Set up at this location is unique. You can sit indoors, on the patio, or there are a few tables set-up along the sidewalk which is so nice when you want to enjoy the sun. I ordered a basic caesar salad and it came complete with seasoned crispy buttered toast, cucumber slices- everything was fresh! My husband ordered a burger and it came out as requested. The fries were also a delight (my favorite) and some ranch on the side- I was a happy lady! We also really loved the 80's music vibe between some alternative and classic rock. This is my first Swamis experience (although there are many other locations of this local chain) and boy it was very long wait, but worth it in the end. The workers are all very pleasant from the first impression of the hosts and the bussers to the servers.. they all showed friendliness which was great. For food I opted for a *Plain Cheeseburger (USDA Choice beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo on a grilled bun) and French Fries*. This definitely was enjoyable from the cheeseburger being perfectly cooked with yummy crispy french fries. For drinks I ordered their *Nirvana Nekter* which includes: Apple juice, bananas, strawberries, raspberries bee pollen boysenberries; ginseng, protein powder, vitamin C. My girlfriend and I were heading to the beach but wanted some breakfast before heading there. The area is so cute and quaint and the place was very busy! The servers were attentive and the inside of the restraint was cozy. I ordered the egg Benedict with mock turkey and a side of potatoes, with a cold glass of iced caramel latte! At first I was hesitant to order the mock turkey but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! This place is a short walk from the beach and they also have outdoor seating. I've been a fan of Swami's Cafe in Encinitas for years. I went to the Carlsbad location a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how expensive it is. $50 for two people for breakfast is crazy. The service was OK. The ambience not so much. The food was OK. But charging six dollars for cappuccino at Swami's is ridiculous. Also, they have packs of Smuckers high fructose corn syrup jams on the table. This used to be a place to get healthier items. It's turned into a generic Denny's. Such a cute place right by the ocean! This place is absolutely tiny, but they do have a decent size patio that is dog friendly. This menu is very healthy and large and everything sounds delicious it's so hard to choose. I had started with a mimosa which was absolutely delicious, and a great touch with the fresh blackberries. My girl friend is completely gluten free and was able to customize pretty much anything she wanted to satisfy her needs. That's always a major plus when you have a gluten allergy, or if you're a vegetarian or vegan! This place has it all for all types of eaters. I ordered a veggie sandwich which definitely was one of the best I've had. The ingredients are all so fresh and you can choose from multiple different sides, which is always a great touch. Chips and salsa with my sandwich instead of fries? Yes please! Not only that but the chips were great and the salsa had wonderful flavor! My friend loved her gluten free French toast, definitely her favorite stuffed French toast she's ever had. The only downside for me was service was a tad bit slow. We loved Swami's when living in San Diego, and we started hitting this location when we were coming down from OC to North county. We had many great breakfasts except our final one - being that we will intentionally never return. The general crowd is very mixed in pleasant and stressful, and the staff is typically nice. Over time, we learned a lot about the items we love at Swami's. I love the Spicy Turkey omelette, and at my latest trip I ordered one. When it arrived, it was not turkey, it was ham. I told our server it was ham, he took it away, then brought it back saying it was turkey. It was not. He says he checked with the chef and tasted it, agreed it tasted like ham but was turkey. It was ham. We heard that the chef was informed that his turkey looks like ham, but I haven't eaten ham in 22 years and no matter what I'm told, I know the difference. So, we won't be back. That sucks. If you don't have dietary restrictions, the food is good! I don't trust the staff any more because they insisted on what I knew wasn't true, but they are still fairly nice. I guess it's the final bridge to San Diego I need to abandon. read more

I would like to say my boyfriend and I have been going to Swami's in Carlsbad weekly for almost 2 years. We used to go every Tuesday but after some time we kind of gave up because no matter what they somehow always manage to mess up our order. The food is pretty good and it's usually not too busy during the week days, but today we decided this was our final time trying to go back. I got a burrito that usually comes with ham, eggs, potatoes and avocado. I asked for no meat. I got my burrito and it's good tasting, but there's no avocado anywhere in it. That was my main ask, and that was for $14. We also got a side of straight up cantaloupe which was all over the news for containing salmonella. My boyfriend got the exact same sandwhich he gets every time, the swamis club, and he always asks for no mayo and sub mustard, and no cheese. He has 90% of the time, even when it is extremely slow, gotten cheese, gotten mayo, or gotten no sauce at all. We used to love going here for food but having it messed up every time is incredibly frustrating. I did not leave a bad review the time I had moldy tomatoes on my avocado toast, and I gave up ordering the avocado toast with modifications, and settled with ordering a side of avocado and a side of sourdough toast so I could make it myself. Which kind of defeated the point of going out. They still managed to give me rock hard avocado the first time I did that as well where I literally couldn't cut into it with a knife. I also didn't complain the time I didn't get a drink I ordered when they were extremely slow as well. The employees are wonderful (s/o to Erick you're awesome!!) but I think the chefs are ruining it for customers and servers. Swami's was our favorite place, and it's slowly gone more and more downhill in this regard. We won't be coming back again and if you have any modifications please do not eat here because they will mess it up. They have never gotten our order completely right. read more

I ran down to Palomar Airport Rd and back. An Acaí Bowl is what I wanted for my rewarding morning of getting up and running early this Saturday. Considering the location, there is no view even though you have the fabulous ocean breeze. I wanted to sit by the beach, better yet, the lagoon so I requested my bowl to go. The host took my order, which included a coffee. He was nice enough to give me the coffee while I wait for my bowl rather than giving it to me all at once. The bowl came in a regular ole to-go box. Not sure how often they get this request, but it worked for Me! It was a great mix of blended acaí smoothie and toppings, which personally is the best part of any smoothie bowl. I loved the granola that came in practically every bite, the bee pollen and coconut shreds, plus the fresh berry and banana on top. What a great breakfast, I'll be good til dinner! This is the second time I've been to Swami's. Being a vegetarian and recently, struggling with veganuary, I love how this place leaves me in a state of confusion on what to order; those rare occasions when there's a range available, suitable for my diet! I ordered the veggie chipotle burger; the waiter suggested a substitution of the milk cheese to a soy-based one. The chipotle sauce was on the side for my husband to enjoy as it isn't vegan. A couple of hiccups but I'm not one to mark staff down for these as they fixed them quickly and without any fuss: 1. At the time of ordering, we asked for the chipotle sauce to be separated for my hubby but they forgot to do so. Upon asking, they speedily brought a tub. 2. My order for ice tea did not arrive with my hubby's fountain soda. We asked a passing waiter who dramatically hit his head, suggesting that he was meant to do it but forgot. When he brought it, there wasn't a straw which I had to ask for. It arrived by the time I was ready to mix my sweetener. No harm, no foul. 3. My hubby's fries were meant to be separated as I wouldn't be comfortable if they touched the meat products. We had specified this when ordering. The waiter responded by leaving the fries on the plate as it is and he will send out another portion in a separate bowl. Indeed, a generous portion arrived! Overall, my personality isn't one to be easily dampened by human errors, especially those that are dealt with sufficiently, therefore I stick by my five star rating. And yes, I will be returning. On both occasions I have left Swami's feeling content; eating wholesome mains that isn't dripping with grease and not feeling like I could have done with another bite.
