Merav delivered perfection. My wedding cake was exactly what I envisioned and like the picture I gave her. Kitchen cakes even had a bit of decoration! Nice touch. I was happy to have some leftover that I froze a few weeks and kept taking places to share. But it's gone now. I will be using her services as often as possible. We ordered a 8 inch round cake with fondant in white and lemon flavored cake. To prepare you, this baker runs business out of her home.The girls at my daughter's party said the cake was "too rich" or "too moist" and only ate a few bites. Prior to the party I had spoken with Merav via email about how the cake should look. I provided pictures of the invites, the cake plates and theme (hot pink and black) parisian theme. We got a light pink/peach colored cake with red fondant decor. I saw a cake very similar in her photos, which kind of took the fun out of ordering from a baker, as I thought it might have been a bit more custom and original looking. Several of the fondant decorations fell off despite careful and gingerly handling. This of course precipitated a hour preparty freak out and reattaching session of my own. As far as pricing goes I think I paid 79$? It was a cute cake but off from the look we needed and the taste of the cake was also off. Maybe she was having a busy week? I can't say. If I were to order again, I think I would speak with her over the phone and provide LOTS of pictures/examples. read more

Mirav did my son's 1st Birthday cake on short notice. I emailed her pictures of my ideas and she did a great job. I ordered 2 cakes. The coconut poppy cake with lemon meringue frosting and coconut cream filling. I usually don't like frosting on any cake but hers was delicious! And the cake was super moist and not too sweet and had a nice light coconut flavor. The other cake was the pumpkin chocolate cake and that was super yummy as well. All my guests were very delighted with how moist and delicious it was. For Christmas I ordered a cookie platter with cheese it's, alfajores and the chocolate halva rugelach. All very good. After looking at the recipe, Merav recognized it as similar to a cake her grandmother used to make for the High Holidays, and she was more than happy to recreate it for me. My office ordered some things today to try out. We got several things including the chocolate pudding tart, chocolate sin rolls, alfajores, and Israeli rugelach. We all thought they were just okay. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate pudding tart, which was literally just that. It was like a Jell-O pudding mix in a pretty hard tart crust. The alfajores were very tender and crumbly (perhaps a little too much so) but we felt cheated on the dulce de leche filling. It wasn't all iced inside, just a ring around the edge and a dollop in the middle. Two of my bites of cookie didn't have any filling at all. The ones from Sabores del Sur are much better. We thought the Chocolate Sin rolls and Rugelach were the best of what we tried, but not enough to blow our socks off. I'm sorry to be less than enthusiastic, Merav is so super sweet and she delivered everything right to our office. We really wanted to love it, the pictures were so beautiful, and everything was made with such care. The rugelach are especially pretty. read more

Wow! you have got to get your next desert here. When it comes to sweets I am a pretty tuff person to please, that being said the two cakes that I purchased could not have been better. I was looking for some gluten free deserts for a friends' birthday party, so I purchased the "Flourless Chocolate Cocount cake" and "Double Chocolate and Hazelnut tart". Both were simply wonderful, very tasteful and not too sweet, but just right where one could acually taste the different flavors. One would never know they were gluten free. I live in Pleasant Hill but would not hesitate to make the 30 minute treck down to Sweeets again. read more
