Came in on vacation for morning breakfast and coffee. The whole place was staffed by very friendly ladies, both serving food and espresso and baking. We parked on the street (read the various signs about street sweeping - we happened to be there on a first Monday), but there was a small lot in front of their shop you could park in too. We got coffee with to-go cups. I remember wondering why they didn't give you in-house mugs, but that's ok. Maybe I didn't ask. My husband ordered a coffee cake which was served immediately - delicious. I ordered the mushroom quiche. The server came out with it maybe 5-8 minutes later and very nicely told me to advise her if it wasn't done cooking. It's hard to tell when the eggs set. They weren't set, so I gave the dish back and she threw it in the oven. Things got busy and I waited a while, enjoying watching staff interact w/locals. I got up to ask for it and the cashier told me "thanks for waiting" and gave me a berry muffin for free! Talk about aiming to please! The quiche was killer - fresh mushrooms in abundance and a great crust (obviously homemade). The muffin was similarly wonderful. Not too sweet, fresh berries, solid top with moist center. Sweet Addies is almost as good as it gets, sweet treats, tasty drinks and nice staff. I recommend their iced coffee, but beware! it's the STRONGEST stuff around, so take it easy. read more

disappointed... got there in the afternoon, around closing time, so there weren't that many selections. desserts looked a bit unappetizing. my friend got the chocolate cream pie and it wasn't any exceptional. probably wouldn't make the trek here again. read more

I got two cakes for a mother's day/birthdays last sunday. I got a lemon cake and a summer cake. They were both delicious! I got them customized for the two birthday girls and they went above and beyond my expectations! One had flower pedals and the other had fresh rasberries! Everyone raved about it! Sweet Adeline doesn't really need to receive any more accolades on its baked goods... I think its pretty well known by now that they produce some top notch, tasty baked goods ( I love the scones and the almond tea cakes) I am writing this review because for the past month I have been sorely sleep deprived. Walking into sweet adeline and being greeted by some of the friendliest (in a non-irritating, fingernails on a chalkboard manner) staff I have ever encountered has become integral to my sanity and makes me feel less "dead inside." This is a very nice neighborhood bakery w/free WiFi. The atmosphere is very friendly and the pastries are quite good. There are ample tables but the place can fill up quickly. Also on Tuesdays the Organic Food Market takes place right in front. Nice area. read more

I seize any opportunity to order a cake from Sweet Adeline's with both forks. The carrot cake and the chocolate pave deserve a special mention. It's worth taking the BART and walking here just to sample a small nonfat latte, a chocolate chip cookie (the best in the Bay area), or any of their other great cakes / cookies. After getting stiffed by another bakery who called at the last minute and told us they were out of the carrot cake that we had ordered the day before, we placed a frantic call Sweet Adeline around noon. Yes, they had a carrot cake, yes they could write something on it, and yes they had another cake (we needed 2 cakes)--we selected a pistachio cardamom cake with rose water glaze. Both to be picked up in 4 hours. The carrot cake was fabulous--everyone raved about it. The pistachio cardamom cake was equally yummy. I've lived in this neighborhood for a long time now and I can't imagine life before Sweet Adelines moved in! Everything there is great, I have a new addiction every week or so.... this week it's the peanut butter cookies. So simple, so perfect. I find myself inextricably drawn there, all of a sudden I'm out of my house and walking that way. It feels so good in there. Everyone who works there, without exception, is fabulous and they make me feel welcomed every time. They also have local art shows and and socials. Such a bright spot in the bay area! I love this place. I stopped going to Peet's in the morning because I like their espresso drinks better (not to mention they're cheaper.) The baked goods are fantastic. I'm a terrible cook so I usually bring one of their cakes or pies to dinner at friends' and ppl always rave and then expect an Adeline desert forever more. Any fruit pie or the flourless chocolate cake are big hits--but everything is good. They also have good sandwiches. Fun, young upbeat staff, wireless, good music. Highly recommend. read more

I ordered our wedding cake from Sweet Adeline's and it was delicious, gorgeous, and well-priced. The lemon curd filling was tart and tangy and set off the sweet, creamy frosting very well. I chose a three-tier white cake with chocolate scroll work that my florist decorated with red roses, miniature white calla lilies, and heather. Sweet Adeline's will also decorate with fresh flowers but I had the florist do it to coordinate with the other wedding flowers. I would recommend Sweet Adeline's to anyone needing a wedding or other special occasion cake. Juli was extremely pleasant and helpful. read more

How lucky during a time of economic travail and the decline of western civilization that we have a place like Sweet Adeline to assuage all angst. I have been going for a couple of months now but the height of bakery bliss was achieved the other day thanks to their chocolate cream pie, an exercise in perfection which went above and beyond the normal realms of daily life. Also not bad is their lemon tart, probably the only one I have had in this country that matches those you find in Paris, having the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. I love the service here, everyone is very very sweet and every single thing I have ever eaten from there has been DELICIOUS!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? The cakes are amazing as well, I have had plenty in my day and wish bad things upon people who are talking crap about them. They are luscious, moist, tasty and very very well made and decorated! Sweet Adeline is a cute bakery. It reminds me of an old school candy shop and the sweetest girl was behind the counter. She chatted with me for a bit and when I posed the question, "What's the best thing on your menu?" She didn't hesitate to pull out the Fruit Buckle, a slice of cake with fresh peaches on the inside. It was the last piece they had left and I immediately snagged it. I also had to try out one of their delicious looking lemon bars. The Fruit Buckle was really good, very moist and fresh, I really enjoyed it. The fresh peaches were a really nice addition to the cake. The lemon bar was just a little too tart for my taste and I usually like things sour. Sweet Adeline is really cute, the desserts are well displayed and there are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your cup of coffee and cake. read more

I got a box of baked goods and the one that stood out the most was their ALMOND TEA CAKE. Both my sister and I really liked it that and would definitely come back have some more. I also got their CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE, OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIE and GINGER COOKIE. They were all good but the next time I'm there, I'll try praline cookie and their apple turnover :D nom nom read more

This place also reminds me of the bakery in "stranger than fiction." It has this old fashion/funky appearance to it with such a wide variety of baked goods!!! I love their choc chip cookies and chocolate cream pie. :) read more
