Its was my partner and I first time coming to this store and I can say the service is very good. As soon as I walked in they greeted me and both employees were ready to take my order. The environment here was pretty calm and quiet, we were the only customers inside at the time but we did see people coming in and out. The Italian ice was very good and well served. For the $5 medium (3 flavors) I Believe it was very good portions. My favorite was the cherry while hers was the strawberry. although it was very good, I would rate the Italian ice a 7.5/10 because there wasn't a very big lingering flavor after eating it. That being said, I still would come back and get some during a late night or a hot summer day! Would recommend! read more

As someone who grew up on Ted Drewes frozen custard, it's so hard living in California and not having regular access to it. Randomly found out sweet and shavery has it! You can also mix Italian ice with it for form a lot of different flavors but personally, I'm just here for the custard. read more

Ahh sweet and shavery, the one dessert spot that has eluded me in my many years in Davis. Definitely hits the spot to save you from these hot summers. I tried a cup of chocolate soft serve and lemon ice. Probably not the best flavor combination, but individually they were both delicious. The chocolate is super creamy but not overwhelmingly rich or sweet. The lemon ice was amazing though, and just thinking about it makes me crave more! It's not sour at all but has that sweet lemon taste. Highly recommend coming here for dessert. read more

Sweet & Shavery is an essential sanctuary from 100+ degree Davis summers LOL. Charming local shop + yummy desserts, how could I not love?? Their Italian ice and custard are house-made & have a great balance of sugar/flavoring-- nothing tastes grossly unnatural, just refreshing and light. I usually get a parfait, which is a cup of both their Italian ice and custard. I don't stray too far from their main attraction, so I can't say much about their other items, but I recommend sampling every flavor here-- you're sure to find something you'll like ^__^ The workers here are super friendly and generous with the scoops. You get a lot for the price! And heaps of variation from the flavor combos. The store itself is pretty & very inviting-- lots of seating surrounded by cute decor. It does get pretty crowded in here during peak summer days & evenings, but the wait is very, very worth! I will say one thing tho-- if you're looking to take a "cute aesthetic dessert" type of pic, this isn't really it LOL. Frequent employee inconsistency and the custard melts fast af. Cute little dessert shop in downtown Davis. $3-5 for a delicious cup of Italian ice and custard. If you don't know what flavor you want, you can try before you buy! You can also pick what you want on their menu which already has flavor pairings. The shop is clean and brightly lit. There are also games you can borrow to ply with. I can see why there was a steady stream of customers throughout the night. read more

It was a nice warm day which called for some ice-cream or shaved ice so I yelped and found this little gem. They have a large selection of shaved ice, which I liked. We ended up ordering a vanilla custard, the chocolate macaroon and the key lime pie. Omg! The key lime paired with the vanilla custard was the best!! Definitely worth coming to on a warm day. We shall be back if we're ever in Davis. read more

Portions and variety here were great! I was here on a Yelp elite 2-day event and was glad there was no line. The host had no issues finding my reservation. We got a medium, where u can pick three flavors. I love that they had some flavor combinations to choose because sometimes you have too many options it's hard to pin point what to get. All the flavors I tried were GREAT I definitely need to come back and try the crepes. Time was great for this treat. There were benches close by to indulge on our shaved ice. read more

If you're looking for a nice cool treat to beat the heat wave, then this is the place for you. Gourmet Italian ice and tons of flavors. Great for families and the staff is welcoming! The location of this spot is in the parking lot so initially hard to find at first. Good place for some sweets. They have frozen custards, shave ice or parfait (combo of shave ice at the bottom and custard (yogurt ice cream) on the top. They have a good variety of flavors for the shave ice. I got the frozen custard (they have vanilla, chocolate or swirl), which basically is a thick ice cream IMO. This was my first time coming to this little spot in Davis, it's definitely a good place to come and get something sweet on a warm day or just because you have a sweet tooth. One of my favorite spots in Davis, and perfect for these hot summer days. Been coming every summer for their amazing mangonadas--aside from being so pretty, they are seriously some of the best I've had. TL;DR try the custard (+board games)!! Sweet and Shavery serves crepes, shaved ice, and custard. I paired a crepe w vanilla custard for a dessert after dinner. The crepe was was pretty chewy and not too appetizing. However, the custard was creamy and smooth. The custard and crepe was not a great pairing, shaved ice + custard seems to be the better way to go. They have board games and plenty of seating for you to play with your friends as you enjoy your chosen sweet good. read more

Cute, inviting environment that plays great EDM. Dessert: I ordered the pineapple, mango shaved ice with vanilla custard. Wow! The vanilla custard is light and airy, i truly enjoy it. A small is definitely enough if you just had a dinner/lunch and you were looking for something to cleanse your pallet. Would definitely recommend! Bathrooms: No bathrooms in here, when you walk in, you see the menu and a couple of seats. Probably as big as a cafe. Parking: Private parking lot that shares with 5-6 other businesses. Reminds me of a shop that I visit in the Bay Area, except this place is more cheaper than the other one. I will always choose local mom and pop Italian ice than Rita's because the consistency melts slower and tastes less artificial. I wished I had ordered mine with the custard but I was so full from lunch that I had to pass on it. read more

This is a delicious little dessert place. Whether you like custard or not there's an option for everyone. The ice is smooth and packed with flavor. I was so excited to Sweet and Shavery!!!! It's a nice soft serve/ice dessert place in the heart of downtown Davis. The area can get pretty busy, especially the summer time where everyone is craving something cold! Inside is pretty nice, it's clean, all the options are on the wall and some of the favorites are actual poster sizes so customers can know the favorites. I ordered the strawberry milkshake which was strawberry freeze, vanilla soft serve custard, and condensed milk! Honestly, it was okay.... the vanilla custard was pretty good, sweet and creamy.... the condensed milk is good as always but the strawberry freeze is where I felt was short! The freeze didn't have that strong fruit flavor, it tasted slightly watered down.... My lady had the lychee ice with vanilla custard! She thought it was so so... she thought the vanilla custard was actually too sweet... but I like it sweet! Overall, not bad... would I try it again.... yea probably but I would get something different.... I thought it was going to be a lot better from the yelp photos but it's a good 3 stars.... Sweet and Shavery is amazing especially during hot summer days. I absolutely love the cherry flavor while my boyfriend always get the cotton candy flavor. They have lots to offer besides just shaved ice. They provide an assortment of games you can play while eating your dessert. I personally love to play battleship while there. Parking can sometimes be a hassle. The parking lot is small and usually crowded. If you see a spot take it otherwise I recommend parking on the street. There's so many concoctions of shaved ice one can try here. I highly recommend this if you are in the area and craving something sweet!! read more

Me and friend stopped by this place. I didn't get anything but my friend got the soft serve with chocolate and custard. I had a bite of that and it was delicious! We came around closing and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I saw they could add Nutella to the ice cream. I'll definitely be back to try that. I recommend coming into this place. Sweet and Shavery has brought classic East Coast desserts to the great town of Davis, California! Italian Ice, or water ice, is made fresh in store. A classic Philly frozen sweetened dessert made with primary water and fresh fruit, fruit concentrates, purees, or food flavorings. The consistency is similar to a mix of sorbet and shaved ice. It is made in the same process as ice cream. Our Frozen Custard is a cold dessert similar to soft serve ice cream, with a denser and richer mouth feel. Custard is made with egg yolks in addition to cream and sugar. Less air is pumped in as it beats, thus yielding a creamier and richer product. Here you can get a unique and tasty dessert that people will enjoy every time!

I love Davis creamery!…read more Since my freshman year, I have been going to Davis creamery! It is one of my favorite places to bring friends to, or show to people visiting Davis. I like that they choose to make their ice cream in store rather than buying it in bulk or ordering it from a factory. If you are looking for a quick ice cream treat, I would 100% reccommend checking this place out! Everyday of the week, they have some sort of deal or happy hour sale going on which is worth it to schedule into your day. They have many different flavors and toppings and they do allow sampling! For those who cannot have dairy, they also have dairy free options which is why this place is a go to for large groups or people new to Davis! There are options for everyone. One thing to note, they do not have seating inside and oftentimes they have long lines. But they do have seating right outside under street lights. On busy days, staff are alwasy working as fast as they can and they are always happy to help. The best way to avoid the lines? Go before meals or go earlier in the day :) after dinner is always the busiest time. In the spring, you can also submit a flavor you'd like them to make and if it makes it into the running, it will enter the month of bracketology where visitors try new flavors created and the favorite will be added to the menu for a while. If you are new or just stopping by, I would reccommend trying this place! If you find a flavor you really love, you can always take it home in a pint!

There is limited seating inside and outside, but it seems like most customers order their drinks to-go (campus is across the street, and downtown Davis is a couple of blocks away). Even with new boba shops opening in Davis all the time, I still go to RareTea for the consistency and convenience.

I was brought to this place by my girlfriend while visiting for Picnic day and as soon as I saw their unique menu, I knew I had to give it a try. The interior is spacious, but unfortunately the tables were a bit sticky, but that's not enough to take away from the overall experience. Wait time was fast, we got our items within 5 minutes despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon. Let me dive into the dessert. Oh my goodness, it was extremely interesting! I got the Jolly Rancher shaved ice, with sour apple and watermelon flavors topped with frozen vanilla custard. The combination does well together and the value is GREAT! I was pleasantly surprised by the price of $4.5 for a small, which was plenty for me. The frozen custard especially was a unique concept in a landscape of ice cream, gelato, and frozen yogurt. It was creamy and the vanilla flavor complemented the fruity shaved ice flavors perfectly.
