    Massaman Curry Dinner
    Nette B.

Very cute restaurant in front and inside. They have about 6 to 8 tables. Variety food in the menu. Tried their Massaman chicken curry and i love the creaminess of the sauce. The sweetness and creaminess is balanced. Perfect for the side of rice. I will est this again. The Pad thai is good too but too sweet for me. The appetizer we ordered are the fresh rolls. Too bland for me and The dip is not that good. Maybe I am more familiar with the peanut sauce of Vietnamese. The service is good and the server is nice. Street parking but we havent had a hard time looking for one.

cute place, it's attached to a house. Service was okay, just one lady serving and running the front end. So it took her time to serve and give the check. Another customer came and they waited about 5 minutes before they got greeted or given water. All the dishes were sweet! Lives up to its' name. Not a fan of sweet Thai food! Panang curry and red curry both tasted the same. When you order a vegetarian dish you have the option of adding veggies or tofu- you don't get both. Will charge extra for the tofu for the veg dish. Both the curries also had potatoe in it. The curries were really creamy, as you can see dish was not enough of the curry. Lacked flavor! Just really sweet despite ordering spicy. The pad Thai was also sweet. The Thai iced tea was overly sweet compared to the norm. Wouldn't go back.

Came here for lunch the other day and absolutely loved it! Authentic Thai food and flavors, not too spicy, but you can ask to make it spicier. The service was fast and the ambiance is cute. It's like a small cozy dining area inside of a house, no like literally-this place is inside of a house turned restaurant. Super inviting and there is even a ramp which makes it completely accessible! Love it and the prices are reasonable as well for these days.

This is one of the best Thai food I've had. I'm not from Albany, and it's so hard to find good, authentic food here. Sweet Basil is definitely good and authentic. The restaurant is tiny, but welcoming. I ordered the soup and it was sour and spicy, but tasteful. The Penang curry was soooo good. Be careful of the hidden chilis; they'll bite you if you're not careful, setting your mouth on fire. The noodles in the pad Thai were perfectly cooked, not too hard. It was sweet and had lots of flavor. So pay a visit to Sweet Basil and if you want some really good Thai food.

I'm giving a 5 star review based off only 2 dishes, but both were amazing. Nothing could have been more satisfying on a rainy/cold day than the Tom Yum soup with tofu. We ordered the lunch size, but I probably could have eaten a whole gallon. I also reco, mend the Drunken Noodles with duck. The duck itself was cooked perfectly and really juicy and tender. Sometimes the sauce of the noodles can be too sweet, but this was balanced well with the veggies.

My first time at this amazing Thai restaurant, and definitely won't be the last. Service was swift, food was incredible, and overall a cute cozy spot. Definitely would recommend trying this out!!

One of the best Thai restaurants and that's coming from a NYC Thai aficionado. Hidden gem.

One of the best spots for a quick but consistently good meal on Newbury Street. I love the Pad See Ew and the shumai is good too.

One of the best Thai places I've had in Albany. Usually get the red curry and drunken noodle, no complaints here :)

Excellent Thai food. I almost always do take out, but the restaurant itself is cute and almost always full when I pick up my food.

The City Beer Hall fits the bill. Located on Howard Street, the City Beer Hall has the local hangout vibe for professionals in town like me and locals wanting a beer and a pizza and fun times. The building at one point housed the city's old telephone company, and now is a cool pizza bar joint with a speakeasy that wasn't open when I went. The large room that houses the bar and long communal tables with high ceilings and large windows is like a Biergarten that is works great for happy hours and evening hangouts. Pizza wise, I was pleased with their Hot Honey Pizza that balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors between its delicious crust, pepperoni, creamy ricotta, tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and a lovely drizzle of hot honey. I enjoyed the pizza with a Ommegang Blueberry Falls that was a "Blueberry Kolsch" whose crisp and slightly sweet flavors balanced well against the spicy and savory I was noshing. The only downside was I found the service behind the bar to be a bit slow and distracting from conversations with other customers. I felt I was forgotten until I finally flagged for the check. But overall, the City Beer Hall was a solid experience highlighted by their hot honey pizza.

Upon entering, the girl behind the counter just stared at us. No greeting. No direction on where to sit. No smile. We assumed it was self seating so we found a booth. She came over, poured our waters, still said nothing. We had about 45 mins until the restaurant closed so I'm unsure of what the cold attitude was for, as there were still 4-5 other patrons there eating as well. My friend is a vegetarian and ordered the veggie dumplings, and I had the same but with meat. Once the plates arrived, the one set in front of me was green, and his not. I figured I would double check to make sure we had the correct ones - I didn't want him to end up eating the meat ones if it could be avoided. Sure enough, the plates were mixed up. Honestly seemed to be done purposefully because it's very clear they are 2 different orders. The texture was chewy/foamy and they also tasted like old grease. Disappointing but we still had soups to look forward to. Our ramen finally arrived and I was hoping it would be the redemption moment of the evening but it wasn't. It really lacked any depth of flavor. Again the meat was chewy instead of tender. More distracting was how we awkwardly felt rushed as the server was shutting off lights and music...again...with at least 15 mins until the kitchen closing time. She seemed annoyed we asked for to go containers. At no point did she check in with us, refill waters, or even crack any resemblance of a smile. I used to love this little spot when I was in college. It was cozy, delicious, inviting. Couldn't have had more of the opposite experience this time around! And for this reason I would not return. I will travel to Colonie for Kuma Ani for better food and MUCH better service. TLDR; this place is extremely overrated
