So I picked the Beef Noodle Soup, a Taiwanese creation, but felt it was just okay. The noodles were straight and didn't pick up much flavor. The broth itself was much spicier than expected. We went on a Monday evening, it got quickly busy, the Happy Hour has a lot of options! We tried many things and the portions are very very reasonable as well as the pricing compared to other places. Wagyu Beef pot and steamed dumplings were phenomenal. I didn't have but two others tried the pork belly pancakes and loved them. Our server, Tina was amazing, attentive and polite, smart and helpful. The owner is also a such a kind lady that likes to visit the tables with food delivery and check up on the guests. Wow. We went here completely on a whim after looking online for a place to eat for almost two hours and I'm beyond glad we did. It has a great chill vibe and was pretty empty when we went which was shocking considering how delicious all of the food was. I know it's basic but I'm a sucker for an egg roll and these were some of the crispiest I've ever had, I almost order four more. The miso soup, again can be basic but this had such strong miso flavor, in a good way; I feel like a lot of restaurants just give you broth with just a hint of miso and this made me so nostalgic. The three cup mushrooms with purple rice were amazing, all the flavors in the marinade went together so well, and the ginger flavor was great without being overpowering. The star of the show however was the Zha Jiang Mian, I mean woah. That pork had such a depth of flavor and the fresh garlic they recommended just put it over the top, add to that all of the crisp fresh veggies and I know the dish I'll be getting when we come back. I highly recommend the dumplings in chili sauce, we could have had two orders, that's how good it is. We then shared the Beef Clay Pot with local Wagyu Beef, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and onions - we made sure to scrape out all the gravy, it was so good. We also had their special of the day, BBQ Pork Belly over steamed white rice and steamed baby boy choy, they seriously need to put this on the regular menu. Last night, my husband and I decided to try Sweet Chive, since it's only about 8 minutes from our place in Riverside. What an excellent decision we made! We ordered four dishes: the Spicy Chili Wonton (special), Bon Bon Chicken (cold appetizer), the Scallion Pancake, and the Zha Jiang Mian (noodle dish). Every dish was delightful, but the chili wontons definitely took the prize for best dish of the night. The chili wontons were served in a chili oil/ dumpling sauce broth combo and were boiled (not crispy). They were clearly fresh and handmade, and the stuffing was incredibly flavorful (great notes of celery!). And the SAUCE. Y'all. I cannot fully explain how amazing the sauce on these guys is. The waitress explained that the sauce is essentially a mix of their chili oil and their dumpling sauce, and it was so incredible that we ordered a side of rice so we could just continue eating the sauce that was left in the bowl. Some of the best bites of food I've had in months. Highly recommend. The bon bon chicken was a cold appetizer and had a bit of a vinegar and chili oil flavor to it. It was refreshing and lovely and a great summer evening dish. The chicken was well cooked and tender, and the mushrooms had an excellent chew to them. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of cold dishes. The scallion pancake was delicious! Not your typical incredibly greasy scallion pancake. This one was more bready and less flaky. Not everyone's favorite, but it's definitely my preference. My husband tends to prefer the ultra flaky, greasy style of scallion pancake, so this wasn't his favorite. But it was great in my book. Served with a vinegar, soy dipping sauce. Very good! The Zha Jiang Mian was HUGE. A noodle dish with ground pork, raw veggies (carrot, cucumber, bell pepper, etc), and some cilantro. You toss it all together before eating, and the pork becomes a bit of a sauce as it has plenty of fat and cooking liquid with it. It's somewhat like a meat sauce, if I had to explain it to somebody who's never had it, but I'm not sure if that's an accurate classification. The dish has a very unique flavor profile--not your "typical" Chinese noodles that you get at any old spot. Highly recommend. It was filling, fresh, and delicious. The noodles were soft and tasty, and the pork was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Fresh veggies added great crunch and freshness to cut through the rich pork! The folks working there were incredibly kind and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Restaurant was also immaculately clean! Highly recommend stopping in or making a to-go order. Their ingredients are fresh, their food is delicious, and their service is top tier. :) We look forward to trying more dishes from them in the future! read more

I've been to this place a couple of times since I live two blocks away. Today I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience, and sadly, will not be going back. I am glad they now have a license to sell but the food was very bad. I always order the same rolls (can't remember the cucumber one, spider, and spicy tuna), vegan spring roll and some noodles. ALL the rolls tasted fishy, looked very poorly made, low quality and after just a couple of minutes my stomach started hurting. I told the waitress because we literally didn't want to keep eating (it was that bad), and she didn't even apologize, asked if she could offer something else - NOTHING. We literally left most of the food, I hate wasting food but it was just not even slightly good. We still had to pay for everything, which I understand and specially with this inflation but I did think they should've given us at least one roll off or something. Sadly, I will not be coming back.
