My granddaughter's 1st birthday party was held at this venue. It was a very special day for our entire family. The on-site venue room was like walking into something from Disney! I cannot believe how much time and effort they put into the set up and the decorations. Everything was literally PERFECT! The confections.... Again, unbelievable! There was a cake but also smaller confections spread throughout the room. Every piece was perfect! Every piece tasted out of this world! While I was there I made it a point to speak with the owners Robby and Darmayne. They are veterans, which made it all the much more better for me. These people put so much love and care into the decorations and the confections resulting in a priceless experience for whoever is the recipient of the party. Job well done! I had heard wonderful things about Sweet Confections Cakes so decided to order a cake from here for a very special birthday party. I send an order via email and got a call back pretty quickly to ensure the order was what I wanted. I had wanted a guinness shaped glass for the cake but was told that their "shaped cakes" do not have fillings so I instead opted for a traditional cake with filling (almond cake, raspberry filling) and just decorated with the Guinness logo/glass, ect. I told the bakery the slogan I wanted and let them take it from there to see what they could do for a creation. I picked up the cake and it was more than I could have ever imagined. The attention to detail was great and the birthday boy was beyond thrilled with the cake. Everyone raved about it, not only did it look good but it tasted great. I will say that I wish the filling had a bit more "flavor" but overall it was still delicious. Sweet Confections also provided a board for the cake to rest on. I was a bit worried about this detail prior to picking up the cake but my anxiety was at ease. The cakes are heavy and flimsy cardboard just isn't going to cut it. Also the cake "board" was covered in a foil material so it looked nice too. Be prepared that the prices are not like you will find at Giant or Costco, they are a bit pricey but well worth it. The cakes are huge!! We actually had a good bit left over so we froze it and are still eating it now and then (and its still delicious)! Everyone raved about it! I was at a wedding were Sweet Confections did the cake. The cake was very pretty BUT the cake itself was quite dry. One layer was extremely dry and the second layer was a little dry. Not even the mousse filling or icing could rescue the dry cake and make it more palatable. It was quite a letdown as I was looking forward to some yummy cake. read more

Can I tell you how much I enjoyed our wedding cake!!! We just had our wedding this past weekend and it was delicious! Our cake was white chocolate with strawberry moose, and one tier was strawberry cheesecake. Yes cheesecake!!!!!!! It was so good!!! Darmayne definitely took care of us. We live in California and she made the process easy for us to get in to taste and then she called and confirmed a month before the wedding. So glad that she called us because we thought our bottom layer was a different size and had a cake stand made. So she worked with use to make sure our cake would work with the stand. I have ordered two cakes from Sweet Confections and they exceeded my expectations both times. I was looking for a very specific design for the first cake, including a fairly intricate pattern done around the entire cake by hand. They made it happen and it turned out great! I also wasn't sure about what colors would look good together, and they offered a couple options and helped pull it all together. The second cake was ordered and created within three days! I called in on Wednesday looking for some "standard" cakes or cupcakes on which they could write text, and they told me that they could create a cake for me and have it done by Friday. I was ecstatic! This cake was left up to the decorator's choice; I just told them what colors I was looking for. It turned out so beautifully! I have had people asking me nonstop where I got it. Compared to other bakeries that I considered, their prices are reasonable, although I would be willing to pay more for the quality and service that I've received with Sweet Confections. I should also mention that both cakes were delicious! Thank you so much to the Sweet Confections team for the wonderful cakes and incredible customer service. I stopped by to pick up two cupcakes only to come home and find out they were both stale. Cake was really hard from sitting outside for a long time. Icing was old. This place seems to be good for custom cakes but not good for just picking up desserts that's already ready. Cupcakes were worse than grocery store ones. read more

I was at a party, and was told the cake was made by Sweet Confections. When one of the kids birthdays came around I remembered the great cake I saw at another party. So I stopped in and spoke with them. The lady was very helpful, and kind. I had tons of questions, and she was great while I made up my mind! Absolutely love Darmayne and Robby! I happened to find this little hidden gem a few years ago. After ordering an amazing personalized sports cake for my nephew, I continue to stop by and pick up goodies! I've had their little Pink Champagne cake pops and fancy cake balls in a variety of flavors. Last year, Darmayne did a special order for me of "cake push pops" for my close friends bridal shower. Simply delish... raspberry, chocolate, and real lemon (my fav), such a hit with the guests. Only wish I ordered more, just for me! I occasionally stop by to see whats in the cooler, and once found what I call "smashed cakes/filling/frosting in a cup". Kids loved them. Last Friday, I called Darmayne for cupcakes in a Saturday rush. She went above and beyond to fill my late order. I had the prettiest pink champagne with luscious buttercream frosting and little jewels on top. So pretty, oh yes and the raspberry cream cupcakes too. I would avoid everyone to avoid this bakery at all cost. They provided the dessert for my 5-30-15 wedding -- a dessert bar and small cake. All was well until the day of my wedding; they showed up more than an hour after their planned arrival time, and didn't call to tell me they were going to be late; the cake had the wrong design and they told me on site that they were not setting up my dessert bar (though I had paid for it), after my groomsmen and father carried the dessert in for them. When my mother reached out after the wedding to discuss the issues, they denied everything, were rude and even hung up on her. So I called and received the same rude behavior. They told me I was lucky they showed up at all, and that it shouldn't have mattered if they were on time or not because I wasn't even ready for the ceremony --- which was none of their business. No empathy, no apology, no can we do anything to make this right. They put all the blame on me, the customer. Their comments coupled with their attitude and lack of customer service, has driven me to tell everyone I know about my experience, and even caused me to create a YELP account. Horrible, horrible, experience. Do not use this bakery -- you've been warned. read more

We ordered a cake for my son's Eagle Scout ceremony to test their cakes before my Daughters wedding. The cake was decorated exactly as we wanted but the taste was a bit bland for a chocolate cake. When my wife ordered it she just requested chocolate not realizing they would give a dark chocolate cake. Maybe good for adults but for a group of kids to leave most of a pretty expensive cake was worrisome. Even with that we decided to go with them for my daughters wedding. Long story short we placed an order and gave the $100 deposit. My daughter and her fiancé are in Japan and soon after going back to Japan made the decision to delay the wedding till they returned stateside permanently. I know the $100 deposit was non-refundable so I asked if I could just order a birthday cake for my wife's birthday. No go can't change the order. I asked if I could just get the wedding cupcakes, nope can't order less than originally planned. Tried to tell me the contract says that but there is nothing in the contract that states you can't reduce your order. Not worth pursuing for $100 but if you go with them order the minimum you can as you can always increase. Also be aware that the prices are pretty high for their wedding cakes and cupcakes compared to the average in the Harrisburg area. Went with them because my daughter was happy with what they offered. I have no problem paying extra for a good product and service but when I have an owner/manager being so inflexible they lost my business and anyone else I know that is looking for a recommendation. I should note I hardly ever take time to even write a bad review of anyone so the fact that I took the time to write this should speak volumes. read more
