The place has an interesting ambiance since it's right next to a pet boarding center, and there were a few cute cats hanging around outside. I was given a free drink, I'm not sure why, as I wasn't the one to pickup the order. While I appreciated that, the drinks had a chlorine taste. We ended up dumping our drinks. Also, my bubble waffle was not fluffy like a usual bubble waffle, very dense, and had an odd aftertaste. I ended up dumping it after a few bites. My colleague said the coconut shrimp was unseasoned so it needed the sweet and sour sauce to make it flavorful. I'm disappointed since this place got such good reviews on here. So thankful we were able to try Sweet Corner Cafe out. My family who is not celiac were questioning where I was taking them until we were greeted by Chelsea who was very friendly and enthusiastic. I shared with her that I had Celiac and she went out of her way to ensure I felt comfortable and safe with ordering food. I had the orange chicken, fried rice and shrimp tempura. We had just dropped off our son at volleyball and were looking for a place to have breakfast. My wifey suggested Sweet Corner Cafe and said that it is in Waiau. But when I mapped the cafe's location the map directed me to Halawa Industrial Park! What?! Not Waiau but "Waiua" Place! Ha ha! We turned onto Waiua Place and saw the sign for Sweet Corner Cafe on the side of a building, so parked our car on the street and walked toward the sign. Hmm...where's the cafe? We saw kids practicing basketball in the H4C gym, but no cafe. We walked down the driveway and saw a sign for Wag n Wings Hawaii (animal boarding and daycare) but no cafe. We saw a sign on wall that directed delivery persons to "walk into the hallway". What hallway? Aaah! If you walk towards the entry to Wags n Wings, there's a hallway on the left side of their door. We followed the signs to Sweet Corner Cafe and were warmly welcomed by Chelsea. She showed to a small dining area and sat us at a table and brought over a laptop with the cafe's menu. She carefully went through the menu items from breakfast items to brunch items to drinks. We ordered the fried rice with scrambled eggs and the bubble waffle with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I ordered the Magic Butterfly Pea Lemonade and my wifey ordered the Iced Caffe Mocha. Chelsea put in our order and brought us water and our drinks. The Magic Butterfly Pea Lemonade was refreshing! We drank our drinks and listened to the calming music playing in the background. Oh, we brought our Pom-Pap with us. Chelsea loves animals so she said hi to Yuki, but Yuki was shy and moved to the back of her carrier (she's very skittish around new people). Chelsea brought out our entrees and everything was nicely plated. We shared the fried rice and the bubble waffle. The fried rice was tasty and the eggs were perfectly scrambled (fluffy like my son likes 'em). Chelsea is so attentive and friendly, checking to see if everything was okay. She mentioned that this was her family's business and that she was currently studying at the University of Hawaii. Whoa! Where did the time go? We had to pick up our son, so Chelsea quickly brought our bill and the Portuguese custard tarts that we ordered earlier. We paid our bill and thanked Chelsea for a pleasant experience. We told her that we'd return with our son (and Yuki) next time. She walked us out into the hallway and thanked us for stopping by. Sweet Corner Cafe may not be a fancy, white linen restaurant. It isn't easy to find and they don't have their own parking lot. It doesn't have beautiful view of the ocean. But what the cafe may be lacking, it more than makes up for in customer hospitality and by serving food prepared with love. I wished that more food establishments would care for their customers like Chelsea did. Dining out would be so much more pleasant! Please support this small cafe and tell other Yelpers about them! What an amazing find. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall. Never would've expected a restaurant to be tucked away in an area surrounded by warehouses. So happy my son found this place on Yelp. Once we entered the cafe we were greeted by Chelsea. She immediately made us feel so welcomed just like family. She asked our names and thereafter referred to us by name when addressing us. Chelsea was very attentive to our needs and explained all about the menu items and what ingredients were used. A perfect hostess who wore many hats. We ordered our drinks (Magic Butterfly Pea Lemonade and Raspberry Black Tea). Both were very refreshing. For our meals we ordered Orange Chicken with House Fried Noodles and Fried Rice with Gyoza. The food did not disappoint. Portions were generous and the taste amazing. Definitely not disappointed at all. While our bellies were stuffed we managed to find room for dessert......Bubble Waffle sprinkled with powdered sugar and drizzled with honey. Yummy. And of course we further indulged and took home some Portuguese Custard Tarts. The tarts were scrumptious.....flaky crust with a creamy custard filling. This place earns its reviews! We almost didn't go in from the outside, but were so glad we did. The waitress learned all of our names and became part of the family. Each course was incredible. I don't usually like orange chicken and it was delicious. Our au pair orders fried rice everywhere and says it was the best she's ever had. While maps can get you close, you need to look for the signs to find it. Chelsea is super friendly and explained the menu. I like that she told me how long it'll take for the food to come out and kept updating us on the time. Portions are big. I got the gyoza with noodles and wasn't disappointed. I also got a bubble waffle for dessert. Food was delicious. I wish I had eaten the bubble waffle while it was still warm since it git cold by the tine I got honestly to eat. Still, I enjoyed it. I think next time I'll add some whipped cream and fruit and it would be perfect. There is a room with 3 tables where you can eat, but my guess is that most do take out. Such a hidden spot that you wouldnt even know that it's there...unless you know! Tucked away in Halawa near the animal quarantine station is Sweet corner cafe. They're actually down a alley off the side of the road and you'll definitely need GPS to get you there. There was some parking along the wall down the street but it looked a little rough to get in and out of. The day i went had this giant container so i didnt want to risk it and just parked on the street. You'll have to go downhill in their street and then up a few stairs to find the restaurant located in a very dark hallway. Im not sure how someone with a wheelchair or stroller can get up there if you wanted to eat in - but i would think you can call in your order and they can bring it out to you if you plan on doing take out. I struggled with my doggy stroller going up the stairs a bit and also down their driveway. LOL. This is also a delayed review - but there was a few other tables occupied the time i went. The owner chelsea was very pleasant. Please be patient with them as they are very limited with staffing. She will give you a laptop with their menu. You're actually supposed to order through the laptop, but she did it for me. I order the ribs, tart, and a drink while i was there. I dont remember what my total was since i went back in October i think. I also like that they're dog friendly :) Its probably best to not go on a Saturday tho, since they bring in cats if you're allergic to them or if you're planning on bringing your furbaby with you. read more

First of all the food is SO good, truly. As I'm gluten free, I had a lot of options and I really appreciated it. Second our server was so sweet and so kind and even gave my son a lemonade drink for free. If you're going to check it out, note that service did take a while as they are a small family business and short staffed. The best PET (Portuguese Egg Tart) AKA Pasteis de nata, I've had in Hawaii. This hidden gem in the Halawa Industrial park is destination worthy not just for the baked goods but also scratch made gyoza, noodles, hearty plate lunch specials, HK style coffee and fruit teas all with a nod to the owner's Macau heritage. The PET, extremely rich and creamy, gently sweet custard in a flaky butter based layered crust. Though lacking the cinnamon notes of the true Portuguese counterpart, outstanding and worth the $5/each price. Note: very limited quantity made daily. Equally good, the butter croissant. First the buttery aroma of the fresh baked croissant hits you. Then experience the flaky layered goodness. Proper fermentation evident in the good interior chew. Excellent. The house made gyoza has a well made, chewy outer layer and a flavorful, meaty interior. The accompanying fresh spinach and gyoza sauce complement each other well. Finally the noodles. House made with a flavor and texture more like spaghetti than the usual fried noodles. It works sucking up the seasonings. Ordered as a side with the gyoza so cannot comment on the entree version. Looking forward to trying more (ie coconut shrimp, whole roasted chicken, BBQ ribs and shrimp tempura). Located near Menehune Water. Limited parking along the side of a very steep, narrow driveway or on the street. Follow the signs and banners at the bottom of the ramp leading through the interior hallway. One of the most unique experiences for a food establishment. This place was really tucked away in a warehouse building with other businesses. Really a hole-in-the-wall, with wonderful service. We were greeted by Chelsea, a wonderful host that was well informative about the menu. Happened to stumble upon this place on the way to North Shore. A bunch of breakfast places we wanted to try were closed but we found Sweet Corner on Yelp. It's not as straightforward getting in, you have to go down a driveway, enter through a door, walk down a hallway, and enter the door on the right. We were greeted by the most lovely and warm woman ever, Chelsea. From the moment we got there until we left, we felt so welcome and .. dare I say it? LOVED! Chelsea guided us through the menu and was extra sweet to our 4 year old son. My son got a chocolate croissant, I got a plain croissant, my partner got the sausage and eggs with an egg tart. Chelsea even recommended a lemonade to me with "healing properties," since I am recovering from a hand injury. Everything was yum and my family left happy and ready to hit the beach. As someone with celiac, I had an amazing experience. The chef has celiac and the server, Chelsea, is very knowledgeable. We did a takeout order, and I am the only one in my family who has celiac, so the server brought out our plates one at a time, telling me exactly what I could eat and how I should not eat my parents food, as it has gluten. She even said that the waffle my dad has was gf, but the chicken was on it so probably don't eat it because of cross contact. That's not a normal experience that I get with places in Hawaii! She also explained everything that was in the food, telling us exactly how it's made so we know that it was gluten free. And, they have a dedicated fryer. Not a 100% gluten free place but they know how to avoid cross contamination and will answer any questions you have. The food was delicious! Wow...what a hidden gem! The entrance is a little tricky to find. It's located on a down slope driveway with parking along side. However, after calling the restaurant, staff Chelsea answered the phone and met us outside. She greeted and escorted us to our table. She was very polite and patient. The ambiance was cozy and clean. She gave us the rundown of the menu. We started with a Iced Matcha Lemonade and a Mocha Chai Tea Latte. It was so cool and refreshing. For food, we started with the housemade Gyoza with a choice of beef or chicken. We got both. Its one of the best gyoza I have ever tasted. It came with a sesame seed soy sauce. We also had the half fried noodles and half fried rice. Both were very flavorful with a taiwanese infuse twist. My fav was the fried rice, it had a slight sticky texture...super good! For dessert, we had the bubble waffle with whip cream drizzled with chocolate. It was light and tasty. We also ordered a poke bowl for takeout, which was pretty good.
