We were in the restaurant for about 2 hours and there weren't even that many customers. This review is mainly for the service: We have been seated for 25+ minutes and the server has not brought us any water or even greeted us. We had to get a menu from another table. After 30+ minutes of waiting for our order, we have only gotten our 2 skewers of string beans...... still no water or no greeting from the server. At this point, we are feeling discriminated against. Other tables have their food and drinks (and second/third round of drinks). The server seems to refuse eye contact with us and gives us minimal communication. Overall, I do not recommend coming here. I did read yelpers comment about this TIT being the spin off of the old original TLT (that has since moved to Fremont) but I gave it a try this weekend and both my hubby and I really enjoyed our food. In our opinion, the skewers actually taste a lot more flavorful than the Fremont location (though San mateo one is still the best flavored among the three). I also like that this place offer stir fry A-chay. We usually like the bbq A-chay but I personally prefer a big plate of stir fry ones ahahaha~ The owner was very friendly, he even gave us a coupon $5 off for our next visit. I could tell that he is trying to improve his business. Service was just so so, typical chinese restaurant but they did refill our water and did not give us bad attitude like some yelpers claimed. They have the "write in your order system" with the erasable marker, but they have the old menu with pictures if you need them (if you don't know their food very well). If you like grilled meat, this is the place to go! The location is also easy to get to (close to the freeway), a lot simpler to find than the Fremont TLT. Too bad Newark is a bit out of our way (we had to take the bridge to get here) otherwise, both hubby and I would probably come here every week just like we used to in San Mateo lol. read more

I came here allllllll the time, and it is a really nice little place to have traditional and good Chinese flavored barbecue. All the items on the menu are delicious. It's almost tradition I come here with my wing chun students every Thursday night. This is a very unique type of Chinese cuisines. They offer exotic meats on skewers that are spiced up so deliciously. The skewers I always get are the Beef, lamb, chicken , chicken gizzards, beef tendon, Chinese chives, squid, and mushrooms. Occasionally I'll order a green onion pancake; but the pancake here is "aight" I love coming here just to wind down and eat some Protein after a hard day of teaching and doing martial arts. It's been a long while since I've been here and looks like it's run by new staff and new owner. Over all, I do remember some light differences. One differece is that you get to mark on a plastic erasable sheet on what you want to order and how many, at least there still the picture menu from the previous owner that they still uses. So what did I come in for? Let's see, I order some chickens, A-chay, green bean and a spicy salad...wait a minute...they are all spicy! But it's ok, I like spicy food! If you're not into spicy, you better tell them that you don't want it spicy, like I do for my 3 year old son. By default, you will get it spicy, You Are Warned! So how does it taste? Well, they're ok. Not too bad, but I think they're still better compare to some others places I've been to. Anything better then gas cook is what I think. The chicken skewers seems a bit more over cooked compare to the previous owner of this place. The A-Chay and green beens where fine, I think it tasted a little sweet and spicy. As for the Salad, I still like it, but it's not as tall as the ones from the previous owner. So would I come back again? Sure, I'll come again, the staff were nice to me that day. Asian street food aka everything on skewers! This place is pretty straight forward. Come in, take a seat, mark what kind of skewers/food you'd like, wait, enjoy. Like any asian establishment, few, to little words are exchanged. Food comes out fairly quickly with no particular order other than time it was cooked. Been here twice and once the food was a bit too salty with a kick, and our most recent trip it was just right. Most notable things to eat here is the tofu, mantou, bread slice, beef, and lamb. Passable items are the chives, the quail eggs, and the squid. The corn is so so. On our last trip it tasted sour as if it had gone bad. Usually we spend about $10-$17 per person here and that is more than enough food for each. Although I do favor other establishments that are quite similar to this, I will continue to come back to this location. read more

Good bbq joint with nice cumin spicy flavored meats. Inexpensive and fast. BUT i had a major MSG headache after eating here. and had to gulp a ton of water down to relieve the pain. We ordered the grilled eggplant, lamb, beef, chicken hearts, chicken liver, a-vegetable (not sure what it was), shrimp, steamed egg, and fried rice. All very tasty. Loved this place! Gives you that old hole in the wall feel. There's a nice uncle there that was super kind and nice to us. The food was so good!!! I had gone to this one and then the Fremont one within the span of a week. This one had better seasoning and bigger, juicier chunks of meat. I was so amazed with the little bits if roasted cumin seeds on my beef skewer...I drool thinking about it. Was super skeptical about the bread slice (like wtf a bread slice on a stick???). It's a pretty typical Asian restaurant with some basic tables and booths. They have a TV that plays Cantonese movies and shows. Food Definitely need to be in the mood for this type of food. This type of BBQ is some of my favorite as it is super salty with spices. They are big portion Asian kabob style. Do not order a ton unless one is willing to take them home. They are sneaky filling. Service They serve the food as it gets done, not by appetizer or main dish. Do not be shocked if the BBQ comes out before some rice or soup. They take your order and then let you be.
