Marinated pig ears, pork stomach, soy sauce chicken, roasted duck

Still has the best roasted duck in town. $25 for a whole duck. Ask for the head and everything if you like everything. Sometimes places don't include the head. We also buy the pork ears, stomach, and tongue. The duck wings are good but difficult to eat since it's not fall off the bone. We also tried the pork with peanut zongzhi. They try to sell some items cheaper to get rid of them since it's towards the end of the day like the cheong fun (buy 1 get 1 free) and duck wings ($4 for 1 lb).

I came here most recently around 3pm, and they still had a lot of offerings. Service was fine and they speak English. It's a takeout-only spot. I paid $55 for 6 dim sum orders and a la carte string bean chicken. They have really good shrimp stuffed items, specifically eggplant ($7.40 for 3), bell pepper ($7.40 for 3), and tofu (all separate items, stuffed with shrimp). The eggplant and bell pepper respectively complement the shrimp nicely. Each piece is also decently large, especially the eggplant. The ha gao and siu mai are pretty standard, nothing compelling. Turnip cake was better, good pan fried texture. String bean chicken is good. The lady gave me a free turnip cake and Chinese donuts. I'm not sure why, maybe because I came later in the day? It was super nice of her! Didn't try the roast duck or deli items. Overall this is a solid spot to get your dim sum fix, and the shrimp stuffed items are a standout.

My family and friends brought us roast duck and dim sum from here during my confinement and I have been itching to check out this mysterious place with the cheap roast duck in person. We were craving dim sum this weekend but couldn't fathom bringing our twin terrors out and thankfully remembered this place. Rating Breakdown: 1/2 Stars for Taste -- Our go-to here is the roast duck. It might be a bit leaner on the meat than other places, but at this price point, who cares! Other dim sum favorites include the fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste and the fried shrimp balls. The shaomai and steamed shrimp rolls are average but tasty. The fried glutinous pork dumplings are hit or miss. Sometimes it's overfried (maybe refried?), and it becomes too hard to chew and nauseatingly oily. The ladies here suggested their fried chicken strips, which was good when they gave us a freshly made sample, but the window of freshness is very short. The trip from the restaurant to our house left us with soggy cold chunks of dough. 1/1 Stars for Value -- The main selling point here is the duck. Where else can you get a whole roast duck for less than $25? The dim sum prices range from around $5-8 for 3 pieces. The quality might not be what you get at a sit-down restaurant, but they are big pieces and they don't skimp on shrimp or meat. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- A Chinese mom and pop shop where the servers are super nice? Say what?! The ladies here made recommendations without being pushy and were patient with us as we hemmed and hawed. By the time I finished choosing, the dim sum was already boxed up and at the register. You can use your credit card for orders over $10. Will definitely be back when I'm craving duck!

We come here fairly often for the steamed buns. We've gotten the bbq pig another time but it wasn't very meaty so we stick with the buns. My favorites are - red bean, custard, and pork with veggies. I stopped by this week and they had one I've never seen, TARO! I had to try it and glad I did. Very good! Had a smooth texture with a light flavor. You have to come here early or just get lucky to get the buns as they sell out daily. Some days they have some after work and other days they have nothing or only a couple left. The women that work here are also very sweet. A couple of them recognize my husband and I now which makes it even more fun to stop in. You can tell they work very hard and enjoy seeing people come in.

Came here on Thanksgiving for some roast duck! The line was pretty long as there were already 5-6 parties before us when the store hadn't opened yet. When we got to the front, it seemed like the only duck options left were that with less meat on them; however, after we ordered, they brought out a lot more duck. I guess it is all about line timing. The roasted duck was honestly pretty good and turned out to have a lot more meat than anticipated. The fatty bits was delicious with all of its sweet "oil" dripping down the meat. I will say that the meat that wasn't against the bone or the fat/skin was a bit dry but it was still very tasty. I will definitely come back for more roast duck in the future!

I absolutely love visiting Tai Pan for their Chinese BBQ meats, including BBQ pork, roast pork, and roast duck--you won't be disappointed! Their catering service is perfect for work events, accommodating a small groups of 10-50 people. You'll get to try a variety of dishes, including dim sum and sesame balls, which make the perfect dessert. I've also started picking up their frozen homemade shrimp wontons and dumplings. The quality is exceptional and far superior to what you find in the frozen section of Asian supermarkets. Ambiance is casual, to go only spots but is perfect for getting Chinese food to go with limited time for lunch! They are no only quick, great portion and great value and very courteous!

Update: came in Feb 2025 Roast pork is AMAZINGGGG! crispy skin, juicy tender pork meat that's very well seasoned! Most places that don't actually season the meat so this was a very welcomed surprise! Craving satisfied, will definitely come back for it! Har gow was ok, not dry and shrimp was okay. Chinese donut is huge I didn't care for the deep fried pork ball. Won't fall for that again. Parking can be tight. The inside of the place of very hole-in-the-wall is but that's part of the charm and I'm all for it.

    Roger L.

A "hole in the wall" Chinese deli that makes you think you walked into Oakland or San Francisco's Chinatown. Boxes stacked up to the left and Char Siu BBQ pork and soyu chicken hanging in the glass. Don't expect flowers and fancy tables, in fact there are no tables, just a couple of wooden chairs backed up to the boxes in case you have to wait. Volume of food is generous, and prices are higher than they used to be but still relatively good. Pro Tip - Get the Jian Dui fried sesame balls when they're hot out of the fryer. A nice treat at 4 for $1. An unexpected hole in the wall in Fremont to get a massive 3 item combo that will be 2 people easily.

We happened to be in the Fremont area on a Friday morning. I searched on Yelp for a takeout dim sum place, and we came across this place. Therefore, we decided to give this place a try. Service: Let me start with the service, the service was great. I did not expect much from a takeout dim sum places. But the lady that helped us was extremely helpful and friendly, and her service was really quick too. Not to mention, she got my order right, and it was a big order. Kudos to her. Ambiance: There is not much to talk about or review when it comes to the place, just because it was such a tiny store, dedicated probably only for takeout customers. But I liked how the food was all laid out behind the glass window, making it easier for the customers to know the food to select from. Food: To be quite honest with you, I was in a big fan of any of the dim sum from this place. Aesthetically, the food was not pleasing either. For example, their pork siu mai didn't have a good shape; the meat seemed to have spread out during the steaming process. Flavor was just OK. I also tried their seafood dumplings. While it sounded interesting, unfortunately the flavor was just very similar to imitation crab meat. (although I'm sure they used real fish and shrimp). Their shrimp dumplings (har gow) was pretty good but skin to meat ratio was a little bit off (the skin was too thick/too much). I did try their other dumpling, which was made out of pork and cilantro, and this one was pretty good. The meat also held its shape pretty well. Price: $4.80 per order (three items) as of June 2024.

    Sistine M.

I come here at least a couple times a month. Usually for a couple dim sum items for snacks or lunch. Sometimes I pick up duck or roast pork for dinner. The line can get long, but the ladies move everyone along quickly. Favorite items: Baked pork bun Chive dumpling Fried chicken Har gow Shrimp/bell pepper Shrimp/eggplant Shumai Chicken feet I LOVE the sesame balls and at 4/$1.00 you can't go wrong! It's a little place, to go only. During Thanksgiving they usually offer cooked whole turkey for advance purchase. They sell frozen items as well. Good place to order party trays.

We went on a Friday afternoon and the place was almost full at 12pm, they seem to be short staffed so it took a few minutes to place our order but the food came out really quickly. We ordered a variety of Dim Sum as well as chicken fried rice. The Dim Sum was hot and tasty, you could tell how fresh it was because the individual items were sticking to the wrapper they came in. The buns were flavorful and the skin was not too thick, in fact it was a good as the filing. The presentation is beautiful as well. The rice is a bit expensive at $18:95 but they serve a very large plate of it. They serve tea as well which is $1/person, it's hot and steaming and pairs just right with the food.
